Serenity Hill, Great Exuma, Retreat with Water Views & Wraparound Shaded Deck

Welcome to Serenity Hill, our peaceful retreat in Great Exuma. Tara and I purchased this property in 2022 as a place for ourselves to escape from Canada, slow down, and enjoy the beauty and relaxed pace of island life. Since we aren't able to be here all the time, we love the idea of sharing our special home with others so they can experience and enjoy it too.

We fell in love with this home because of its privacy, the gentle island breezes, and the feeling of having so many different places to simply relax and enjoy the day.

The large wraparound deck is one of our favorite parts of the home. With multiple spaces to enjoy, you can have your morning coffee, curl up with a book, share a meal, or simply relax in the island breeze. From several spots around the deck, you can catch views of the beautiful turquoise water beyond the property, adding to that wonderful feeling of being surrounded by Exuma.

We also love our sandy retreat right off the deck. You can step outside barefoot, settle into a chair on the sand, and enjoy the relaxed feeling of having our own little piece of island right at home.

Inside, the bright open-concept living space is comfortable and inviting, with plenty of natural light and an easy flow between the indoor and outdoor spaces.

Serenity Hill is our slow down, breathe in the fresh island air, and enjoy the simple pleasures of Exuma. We hope that when you stay here, you'll feel the same sense of peace and happiness that drew us to this special place.

We chose this area because it gives us the best of both worlds - peace and privacy while still being close to everything we need. Serenity Hill is centrally located in the middle of Great Exuma, making it convenient home base for exploring both ends of the island.

We love that we're only about a 5 minute drive from Georgetown, yet when we're at home, it feels peaceful and private. The road leading to the property is paved, making getting here easy and comfortable, and we have wonderful neighbors who are friendly, helpful and quiet.

Georgetown is close by and has everything you need for your stay, including restaurants, groceries and supplies, local shops, boat rentals and the popular Fish Fry. Many of Exuma's beautiful beaches are just 7-15 minutes away, making it easy to spend the day exploring a different beach or enjoying crystal-clear waters before returning home to Serenity Hill.

We're also only about 20 minutes from the airport, which makes arriving and settling into your island vacation simple and convenient.

We do recommend renting a car if you'd like to explore the island and discover all that Great Exuma has to offer. However, a car isn't essential if you'd prefer to simply relax and enjoy the area around Serenity Hill. We have a wonderful taxi driver right in our neighborhood, and the water taxis are only five minutes away, making it easy to head out on the water and explore even more beautiful beaches including Stocking Island.

Being in the middle of the island means you can easily head East or West to discover beaches, snorkeling, boating, restaurants and other island adventures, then come home to peaceful surroundings of Serenity Hill.

It's one of the things we love most about our location - you feel tucked away and relaxed, without being far from anything.

The moment we stepped onto the wraparound deck at Serenity Hill, we knew we had found something special. From several areas of the deck, beautiful views of the Bahamas Sound, passing sailboats and the open ocean unfold through the tropical greenery. The trees and palms naturally frame the water, creating a beautiful blend of ocean and island scenery. The gentle island breeze flowing through the palms make the outdoor space feel incredibly peaceful and inviting.

When we walked inside, we were equally impressed by the spacious, bright and comfortable open-concept home. The high ceilings and multiple large windows fill the space with natural light and create an easy connection between the indoors and tropical surroundings.

We furnished Serenity Hill with many of the same comforts and amenities we enjoy in our home in Canada because we wanted it to feel like a real home away from home, rather than simply a vacation rental.

Tropical gardens surround the property, creating a wonderful sense of privacy. We love sitting outside and listening to the crickets, tree frogs and the breeze moving through the palms - those simple sounds that reminds us we're in Exuma.

And one of our favorite little pleasures is being able to walk barefoot from the deck to the backyard, where we created a beautiful sandy retreat beneath a palm tree with loungers are awaiting - the perfect spot to relax and enjoy island sunshine.

When you are ready to head back inside from the yard or the beach, there's a convenient outdoor shower to rinse off.
