Phenomenal last minute trip to KDH based on our normal location in Hatteras being inaccessible because Highway 12 road washout. Overall, the house had everything we needed for 5 guests and two pooches. Phenomenal location in a very secure community. We brought our 19’ Center Console along and kept it right outside the back door in the canal. Easy water access. Everyone had a great time in a beautifully appointed home. Thanks Very Much!!!

The property exceeded our expectations. Pictures do not do it justice. We enjoyed afternoon sunsets on the screened in porch, grilling, cooking fish we caught, nights in the hot tub, and time cooling off in the sound. It was absolutely perfect!

It is decorated beautifully and the kitchen is so well equipped with everything you could ever need and then some. Loved the rocking chairs on the screened in porch, overlooking the canal. We enjoyed early morning coffee & evening sunsets there. So grateful for it being a dog friendly home & the fenced in yard. Loved the hot tub & it's private location, as well as the tiki bar & fire pit. Southern Jewel has it all! It was so nice having our own dock with chairs & an umbrella.The owners were so gracious in sharing their beach chairs, toys & games, bikes & kayaks with us. The yard was beautifully decorated with flowering plants & shrubs. We had a wonderful vacation!

Great House, but Bonus Room is "Detached"

However, it should be highlighted that accessing the "bonus" room (the one with the refrigerator) requires going outdoors and then back in again. Having pool access was fantastic, and the ocean beach is just a short drive away. Would stay again!

Perfectly decorated house on the canal

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Driving up to the house, it’s tucked away into a gated community away from the main boulevard, yet it was only a 10 minute drive to the beach access point. The house itself is perfectly situated over the canal and gives incredible views of the sunset you can watch from the rocking chairs on the 1st floor deck, chairs on the dock, or 2nd floor deck off the master bedroom. Each part of the house was well thought out from the open concept of the kitchen/dining/living room to the outdoor space with a Fire pit, tiki bar, outdoor dining table, hot tub, and shower. The master bedroom was spacious and the king bed was comfortable (we didn’t use the other rooms so not sure about them). The house was fully stocked. You can tell the owners put a lot of thought into to the house. Would definitely stay here again.

Great Getaway

We had a wonderful stay here! Enjoyed the quiet neighborhood, kayaking on the beautiful canals, and beautiful house. Kitchen and house was well stocked, minus no toilet paper at all to start out. Neighborhood was a great little place, has community pool and park, basketball and tennis, dog park and dog access to the water was a nice to have The only fault to the house was just not realizing that the 4th bedroom is really not really connected to the main house- you have to go outside to go down the stairs to the room on the bottom floor. The room itself was fine, just wasn't ideal for our situation, but it was fine in the end.Great house and would recommend for a nice quiet getaway!

An accident waiting to happen--

Rating Details: The property manager was adequately helpful. The vacation rental was very dirty. I was happy with the location. I was very dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Trash over flowing with maggots at curb. Laundry overflowing in buckets with maggots. Downstairs room smelled like a litter box, commode had not been cleaned. Main level knob missing in kitchen, blinds uneven, glass coffee table broke later we found shards of glass, floor has not been swept. Vacuum cleaner filter too cogged to clean. WORSE - gas stove flared up like a gas grill for no reason while in use. Burners did not adjust. Stoves circuit breaker tripped Thursday night. Front burner has flame when turned back burner on and front was off.Dishes left in dishwasher, dishwasher was still hot when we arrived at past 530 pm. Screen on door loose. Furniture was comfortable-- but it was thing after another

The porch door needs work, sticks when opening. The ants are a problem! The master shower needs to be cleaned better, the mold and mildew show easily on the white tile. We still overall had a great time and vacation.
