Welcome to The Palm Paradise - Your Unique St. Augustine Downtown Retreat!
Transport yourself back in time and immerse in the rich history of St. Augustine while savoring modern comforts at our captivating 3-story Queen Anne vacation rental, nestled just behind the majestic 1 bedroom Grand Oak at 28 Saragossa St. As the oldest home on the street, this architectural gem, originally built in 1891 by the renowned Birds Eye View Artist Henry J Ritchie, boasts 50 windows and 25 rooms, making it a true historical treasure. But don't be fooled by its age – after a meticulous 1.5-year renovation, The Palm Paradise now offers a delightful fusion of old-world charm and contemporary luxury, creating the perfect backdrop for an unforgettable stay that seamlessly blends history and beachside relaxation.
At The Palm Paradise, we take immense pride in offering an exceptional indoor and outdoor experience, transcending the conventional hotel space to provide you with a genuine home away from home. Upon entering, you'll be enchanted by the hardwood floors and the abundant natural light streaming through the tall coffered ceilings in the Great Room. Our 1-bedroom haven, ingeniously designed, easily accommodates two couples or a family with children, with the leather sleeper sofa and additional stack stools at your disposal. The fully renovated kitchen, once the Boiler Room of the home, now stands as a showpiece, featuring a tall paneled ceiling, marble countertops, stacked shaker cabinets with glass doors and an antique cast iron sink with a drainboard which evokes a sense of history and nostalgia. The black slate floors, each piece a unique work of art, add an elegant touch to the space. The large bedroom, graced with a California King bed and antique drop-front desk, creates a perfect relaxation or "Work from Home" space. The floor-to-ceiling subway tile bath, 10' shower curtain, and black surface-mount shower further transport you back in time, providing a truly immersive experience.
But it doesn't end there. Step into the enchanting backyard, where salvaged old bricks have been artfully repurposed to create a fenced viewing patio for the majestic Giant Palm, the inspiration for our home's name. Enjoy a delightful outdoor dining space for four, complete with a grill offering both gas and charcoal options, surrounded by plants and the sweet songs of birds Whether it's a tranquil morning coffee or a delightful sunset dinner, the backyard offers a serene oasis for relaxation.

Great space in the heart of St. Augustine. Easily walk to shopping, restaurants, and attractions. The space is super clean and super quiet. The host is easy to contact and responds quickly with answers.
Me and my wife needed a weekend get away for our 30th anniversary. This place was just the right set up for us to come and enjoy the downtown atmosphere and be able to get there in a very short walking distance. The unit was extremely clean and well maintained and had that small space feel that most couples have when they first get married It brought back wonderful memories of our first apartment. It’s a great little hideaway I would highly recommend for a getaway
Lovely renovated private apartment with private garden area as a bonus. Convenient walking to all historic areas of St. Augustine. The owner, Linda, was an excellent host. I would definitely recommend a stay here and have added it to my favorites list!
Very clean and spacious rooms. Comfortable Bed to sleep in. We literally parked our car and walked to restaurants and George Street area with places to eat, shop and stop for cocktails. There is a Winn Dixie Grocery Store within 5 minutes.
The host provided a wealth of recommendations, gave very detailed instructions, and was very responsive when we called with questions. The home was lovely, spotless and comfortable. We thoroughly enjoyed eating breakfast and enjoying cocktails on the back, private patio.
This house is awesome! Extremely clean, great location, beautiful house had everything we needed. The host was very nice and was quick to respond when I had questions. Absolutely loved our stay, will be returning! Thank you for letting me and my wife stay!
Location, location, location. This home is in the Historic district and walkable to all the major sights. The hop-on-hop-off trolley has 22 stops and they are all within a reasonable walking distance from here. And only a 15 minute drive to both major beaches. Clean, quiet, and modernized for a 140 year old building. However, there were no chairs or place to sit outside .
The location is perfect. Walkable to shopping and restaurants. The home was clean with amenities. It was the perfect size for me and my husband. Would add a suggestions: blinds in the kitchen window to block out light at night and help with cooling the kitchen from afternoon sun. Overall, it was great and would rebook.
Palm Paradise was the perfect place for our short stay. Very clean, great size, walking distance to downtown, quiet. I stayed with my mom and my daughter but would love to go back for a couple’s weekend.
Great location; easy walk to everything in the historic district. The space was pristinely renovated and communication with the host was very easy. Absolutely would stay here again.
Wonderful property! Linda, the property manager, was very helpful and quick to respond. The space was clean, full of light and is in a great location. I was concerned about how far of a walk it would be to the main tourist street but it was an easy walk. I would definitely recommend!
I hate to give this a great review because I want to make sure I can stay again and it’s not booked. Our stay here was awesome. The house is clean and very charming. The location is perfect, steps from the historic district for restaurants, shopping, and sightseeing. Your in the middle of everything, yet the home is quiet and secluded.
The apartment had every "basic" need to make our stay very comfortable and relaxing. We ate out the entire time there but that was by our choice. The apartment was super clean and had all of the comforts. It was bright and crisp! I enjoyed the soft bed..... My husband did not like it as much but he slept well regardless. Close to everything (shopping and restaurants) but several blocks out of the noise of the bars . The owner was super nice and took care of a remote control issue right away.... Space was perfect for 2 people but not sure I would do 4 people. Only one bathroom would make it tight. Just our opinion... But.... beautiful and comfortable place for sure!!! Totally give it a HIGH "5" !!!!
My name is Linda Bayles. I have been a Realtor in the Jacksonville/St Augustine area ranking in the Top 1% of Agents since 1998. In 2005 I walked into a 1926 beach cottage direct oceanfront on St Augustine Beach and knew I had found my calling. I wanted to 'Create' a vacation space for Families. Large extended families. A place were Cousins, Grandmothers, Uncles and Aunts can comfortably come together to reconnect and enjoy each other away from the demands of the outside world. I come from a large family of 5 children as does my husband, Brad. Some of my fondest memories are when we all got together to just 'hang out' for 3 or 4 days. The little ones always come up with a 'play'. The adults always congregate in the Kitchen passing down the 'Family Recipes' to the next generation and playing Games. We are a big Game playing family. Specifically Rummikub. We start them at 5 and My Mother is still going at 95. If you have never played, you must. I make sure there is one in each house. Once you are hooked and have one of your own, I hope you will think of your St Augustine stay every time you play.
So I bought that 1926 Craftsman, gutted it and turned it into The Chautauqua which sleeps 21. It has been a rewarding success. In 2011, my Father expanded the tradition and bought 4 homes on one Oceanfront compound on 9th Street. We could not believe our luck and spent the next year remodeling them into The Seaside Cottages. We started renting them in June of 2012. The Best part is not only the homes but the BEACH. There are only 18 streets on the “Best Beach” - No cars. No Catwalk. The ocean right at your door. Everything within walking distance.
In 2016 I moved to Downtown St Augustine and added 4 more Downtown Homes walking distance of St George Street, the Center of Historic Downtown and all the Restaurants, Sights and Music. It is absolutely charming at night. You will feel you are strolling an old European City. A must see
And now I have moved to this glorious 1891 3 story Queen Victorian. I have spent well over 1.5 years renovating it. I will be living in 2 of the units and invite you to come share one of the other 2. I have also started renting my 1st Downtown home called the Lemon Street Retreat. That along with the Lemon Guesthouse in back can accomodate up to 20 Guests. Great for Weddings and Family Reuntions. I hope you will stay with us in one of my 12 creations and create memories you will cherish for a lifetime.
PS: I am also a Realtor. I work primarily as a Single Agent. There are not many of us out there. Most Realtors work as neutral Transaction Agents. You can google 'Buyers Agent' to get an overview of the difference. I think it is big. Just ask yourself the question, Would I want the other sides Attorney to represent me too? That's it in a nut shell but the amazing thing is, unlike Attorneys, it does not cost you anything to have your OWN Realtor representing just YOUR interest. We are all paid by the Seller. So .... I would love to help if you are thinking about buying or selling in the area. Just call and I will send photos of what's available. Once here I would love to give you a tour of the area and take you "shopping". We can see about 4 per hour and you have me as long as it takes.
