We were on the hunt for a home big enough for our whole crew. Somewhere we could escape to a few times a year during our teaching breaks. One beach trip a year just wasnât cutting it for us! When we discovered Laguna Beach, we fell in love instantly. The neighborhood has such a peaceful, private feel, yet itâs only minutes from everything you could possibly want to do.
One of the things that makes this area so special is what you wonât find here: no highârise condos, no rows of hotels, and no crowded beaches. Much of Laguna Beachâs shoreline is beautifully undeveloped and zoned to stay that way, protecting the natural dunes and preserving those stunning coastal views. As biology professors, conservation is close to our hearts, so being able to step outside and see native birds, plants, and coastal wildlife right in the neighborhood feels like a dream.
We love how close we are to all our favorite spots. Pier Park is perfect for shopping, dining, and entertainment. Head west on 30A and itâs a whole lineup of unforgettable experiencesâFrenchâinspired architecture and amazing dinners in Rosemary Beach, the bright white Bahamianâinspired beauty of Alys Beach, and the relaxed, iconic charm of Seaside. Renting bikes there and exploring the town (and its food scene!) is one of our favorite traditions.
Weâre also huge fans of the local nature preserves. Weâll often spend a day hiking the dunes at Topsail or exploring the protected jetty at St. Andrews. From there, you can catch a ferry to Shell Islandâa spectacular 7âmile stretch of untouched coastline perfect for shelling, snorkeling, and simply unwinding.
Thereâs always something new to see or do, and honestly, weâre constantly counting down the days until our next trip back. Laguna Beach and the surrounding area have brought our family so much joy, and weâre thrilled to share that experience with our guests.
