This was our second time spending spring break in this beautiful house. It suits our family so well, with lots of space to spread out and also be together. The views and beach are breathtaking. John is a wonderful host, immediately attentive if we needed anything. Thank you so much.
Beautiful sunsets house is nice, a little ride to cape may but worth the privacy and serine setting. I would stay again. Waking up to the sound of the bay out back is awesome.
Awesome location, rare warblers in n the property & bald eagles on the beach. Never saw notice about bringing sheets & towels but luckily owner telephoned prior to our coming with details.
Had a spectacular week at this amazing location. Beautiful sunsets. Great beach access. Everything as advertised. Plenty of space for the whole family.
A week with our daughterâs & preschool granddaughters, who loved exploring the extensive low tide sandbars and seeing the horseshoe crabs and laughing gulls. Lots of local restaurants and services and only a 20 minute drive to Wildwood and Cape May.
The property was everything the listing described. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this magnificent home. I needed a relaxing stay and this certainly met all of our requirements.
Our family had such a wonderful week. The house was impeccably clean with anything we needed. The location is heaven, quiet and very private feeling. Views of the bay and sunsets we even better than we hoped. Highly recommended.
New Jersey Bayside is one of NJs best kept secrets. It has a wonderful serene and tranquil atmosphere and the most amazing sunrises and sunsets. That house was amazing and comfortable. We would recommend this house to anyone that wanted to have a relaxing time
I booked this property for Thanksgiving break for my family, and everything about our experience was wonderful. The home is lovely, very well taken care of, and has a very cozy atmosphere. Awesome kitchen, comfy fireplace area, beautiful siiting space, and large bedrooms. The views of the water are exceptional, and accessibility to beach is perfect. Beautiful decks to sit on and watch the tide go in and out, and steps from the sand for walking the quiet and clean beach. Perfect getaway, completely relaxing.
The property owner was accommodating throughout the entire rental process, from first contact to refunding security deposit, and everything in between. I will most definitely book this property in the future.
The property is exactly as shown in the pictures and as described. The water is very close at high tide, and we enjoyed walking on the beach. However.... not too long after arriving, we noticed there were several cameras located throughout the property. One was in the foyer, one on the deck outside aimed toward to driveway, AND one was on the 2nd floor, directly aimed at the main living area. I shared with the owner our observation of the cameras, and he explained that it was for security reasons and not anything for us to be concerned about; that he certainly would not be monitoring the cameras. REALLY...well....it was concerning, and I think probably even illegal, as expressed by my son-in-law who is a member of the NJ criminal enforcement system . We considered disconnecting the cameras or "putting a sock over them", but did not. Other family members wondered if there were hidden cameras in hidden locations. After careful consideration regarding posting this review, I felt compelled to share our observation and experience with other potential renters. While totally understanding the expressed owner's concerns regarding vandalism, a security-alarm system would definitely be a more appropriate and legal way to go. We would not rent here again because of this issue. Other potential renters will have to choose for themselves. Sorry John...your home is lovely, I understand your concerns, but video cameras are not the solution.
We stayed here as a family for Thanksgiving: 5 adults and 1 kid. Sleeping arrangements worked well, but be aware that the bottom bunk bed has a very low clearance height. Master bathroom has walk-in shower with dual shower heads. All bedrooms are on the first level, making it easy to separate sleepy ones from those who may want to stay up and play games.
The beach was really cool, water comes right up by the house at high tide and at low tide you can walk out on the sandbars. House-provided galoshes made this possible in the cold weather. We really enjoyed exploring the beach during low tide and at sunset. My dog loved the beach, too, and I loved that she could come with the family for the long weekend.
The town of Cape May is nearby and fun to explore as well, but we spent most of our time relaxing around the house.
Owner was quick to return the security deposit (within two weeks). Another review complained about the security system... the directions for unplugging the cameras are in the lease and it was very easy to unplug them. No concerns there.
Would have given 5 stars, except:
- Trundle bed wheels are broken on one side, making it very difficult to pull the trundle out.
- Twin sized mattress is uncomfortable, you can feel the springs as you lay on it
- The one shower curtain liner could use to be replaced, it had mildew on it and 4 of the curtain hanger holes were broken through (two on each side).
- Payment was a little trickier than I would have liked. I wanted to put it on my Visa for security purposes and to earn rewards, but the owner was unable to get his credit card software to work. Ended up paying by check, which made me uncomfortable. Everything worked out, and it was a great holiday stay... but the payment process did make me wonder if I was getting scammed.
Overall, I recommend staying here if you are looking for a quiet, relaxing getaway. The home is beautiful and the view of the beach (especially at sunset) is amazing.
Les points faibles : Communication, emplacement, exactitude de lâannonce
Renter, BEWARE!!,
I am offering a fair and honest review of our experience at this property.
Our stay was not what we were hoping for or expecting. Upon arrival, you can clearly see that the property needs some TLC and hands on, basic maintenance. Honestly, it looks abandoned since ALL of the âyardâ is grossly overgrown and even prohibits getting out of your car without brush rubbing against the door. Quite frankly, it looks, and is, horrible. Not even remotely groomed in any way, shape or form. I am well aware that most often times, beach homes do not have typical lawns but this mess is just neglect.
There is no debate regarding the beautiful sunsets and the cleanliness of MOST of the home. The ( indoor) shower floor was loaded with sand and all around the shower base along the walls there was black mold. Yeah, I know it can get sandy at a beach house, but I donât think thereâs any good excuse for a gritty, moldy shower. Iâm assuming the previous renter paid cleaning fee like I did but obviously somebody dropped the ball. Fact of the matter is mold doesnât happen overnight. A previous review from years ago (yes, years) mentioned a âcracked patio doorâ. If that reviewer was talking about one of the master bedroomâs glass doors leading out to the balcony, surprise! Itâs still there, cracked from top to bottom.
The most negative thing we encountered was upon entrance to the house. We were greeted with a surveillance camera in the downstairs foyer, only to go upstairs and find 3 more cameras with audio input/output in the living area. We thought we were in the Big Brother house. We called VRBO re: the cameras and were told cameras inside the property are prohibited. We were uncomfortable knowing we could be seen and heard apparently at will. Hereâs the kicker: I went back and saw a review from May 2014 citing the cameras indoors. The owner response was that their presence was disclosed in the rental agreement. I did not receive, see, sign, or get informed of any cameras. Why this has been allowed to continue, I do not know. If there are so many problems with vandalism, robberies, etc in the off season that it makes indoor cameras necessary AT THAT TIME, why are they all allowed to be there during the height of the summer when the house is occupied? This is a complete and total invasion of privacy. Period. 100% creepy no matter what explanation may be offered. There can be no acceptable reason for 4 cameras inside the home. Creepy, and unacceptable.
Stayed 3 nights for a girl's trip. The house is spacious and clean. Close to attractions such as downtown Cape May and wineries. Our favorite part was watching the sunset over the bay each night. Would recommend!
Before I start I want to say we did get a full refund. But we should have never been allowed to book the property. Before we arrived the property owner mentioned the heat wasn't working well but that he provided space heaters (more on that later). When we arrived the house is right on the water and the views were breath taking. But the house itself and the property left much to be desired. Initially walking in we found at-least lol a dozen alive & dead wasps. Along with another dozen live lady bugs crawling on the walls. When we opened the refrigerator a very gross and pungent smell came pouring out. Along with mold growing on the shelves. Upon calling the owner he said he MIGHT be able to get someone out the next day, which was Christmas Eve. And he also said maybe we could go to Wawa and get ice for the cooler. And that the cleaners were there the day before. Also the space heaters were so small they wouldn't have made a difference in the freezing downstairs. And on top of it all there was a camera in the main living area. The owner said we could put a cup over it, but I thought having camera was against VRBO policy. Clearly he was not caring for the property in the way we expected. We were so grossed out and uncomfortable we left the property and took our business elsewhere.
Beautiful property and beautiful views of the bay-sunsets, pelicans, an eagle and other birds. Only problem I had was with my GPS which did not want to put the address in to come to and from the property, so just put in a business nearby to get back and forth from Cape May.
Thank you for such a lovely stay.
We built this house in 2010 after many years of planning. It has qualities of a sanctuary, close to nature, with the bay in front and wetlands behind. The sun rises over the wetlands and sets over the bay. Light pollution is minimal, so there are breathtakingly starry nights. We marvel at how restful our sleep is, with the waves gently lapping the shore thirty feet away.
Get the fun, adventure and crowds of the shore, when you want them, get a peaceful and relaxing place to stay. You can sit on the deck and watch the water for a long time without getting bored. If you don't think you meditate, you may find out otherwise. I always feel a sense of renewal when I am there.
