THE SPACE

Originally a humble fisherman’s shack built in 1952 this stunning waterfront holiday home has been recently transformed to suit all seasons of the year. With breathtaking views in a spectacular location, this home welcomes you with natural light filled interiors and views of the water and Coorong capturing your heart as soon as you enter the home. From sunrise to sunset, these views at Pelicans Rest will never disappoint, this stylish home allows you to reconnect with loved ones and relax in classic retreat style. Whether you’re rugged up and toasting marshmallows by the firepit or serving dinner alfresco under a summer starlit sky.

Vegetarian and gluten free options are also available. Please contact us before your arrival and we can supply you with a menu and prices.

Bedrooms & Bathrooms
To ensure your utmost comfort in this holiday home, Pelicans Rest sleeps a maximum of 8 to 10 guests. All the beds in Pelicans Rest are overlayed with the microCloud Mattress Toppers for extra comfort and a relaxing sleep as well as The Sheet Society “Eden” 400 Thread Count Cotton sheets & French Flax linen quilt covers.
The Master Suite contains a queen bed directly overlooking the water with its own ensuite, direct deck access & built in robes. Bedrooms 2 & 3 are equipped with a queen bed & double bed respectively, as well as built in robes. Bedroom 4 also doubles as an additional living area with the Freedom Furniture double sofa bed and the 2 single beds.
There are 2 bathrooms, one with a deep bath for a relaxing soak and a compact European Laundry featuring both a washer and dryer. Luxurious bath towels are provided as well as microfibre hair towels & face washers, hairdryers Sukin shampoo, conditioner & bodywash.
The entire home offers heating & cooling options with 3 split systems located throughout the property, and fans in each of the bedrooms, this absolute waterfront home is sure to impress inside and out.

Outdoor Experience
Enjoy the great outdoors and soak in the views whilst enjoying outdoor pursuits either at the front or back of Pelicans Rest. Relax with a book in the various lounge chairs, beanbags & hammock with shade provided by outdoor umbrellas. Outside cooking is also provided for with a large 8 burner BBQ as well as an additional drinks & food fridge. Dining options outside include a large 10-seater table overlooking the water as well as a 6-seater at the rear.

Fully fenced for both your fur babies and kids with electric gates at the back of the property for additional security, side gates & a gate between the property and the jetty too. If you have brought your beloved boat along with you, we highly recommend launching from the Mundoo Channel boat ramp, located roughly 500m down Mundoo Channel Drive.
** Please note: Pelicans Rest is pet friendly with plenty of outside undercover & sheltered areas for your fur babies to use as well as lawns to play on however the property is not equipped to facilitate pets indoors. **

LOCATION

The picturesque Hindmarsh Island sits at the mouth of the Murray River, facing the Southern Ocean and with its back to the tiny coastal town of Goolwa, over one hour south of Adelaide. With a small population of around 1000 residents who live permanently on the island, the area is quickly becoming popular as a hidden gem among tourists and guest alike who are seeking a secluded coastal getaway with a luxurious feel. You’ll surely want to get amongst the local offerings and feel like a movie star in this filming location of the iconic ‘Storm Boy’ movies from 1976, with the most recent version filmed in 2019.


THINGS TO DO

Pelicans Rest allows you to do as much or as little as you want. The Fleurieu Peninsula is at your doorstep, you’re free to explore or spend the entire time on the island and at the house.
Off the Island you will find the historic river port town of Goolwa to explore, which also has various conveniences such as restaurants & major supermarkets, as well as the Goolwa Wharf Precinct featuring the famous SteamRanger Train & various boat cruise experiences. Other exciting attractions not be missed include the Goolwa Motor Museum, Goolwa Animal Farm and local art galleries. The winery areas of Mclaren Vale, Langhorne Creek and Currency Creek are also at the doorstep to explore. On the island within walking distance of the home you will find Sugars Beach & the Murray Mouth, Coorong Canoe Tours, Lawari National Park as well as the Coorong Café. Boat Use - If you are bringing your own boat please launch off the Mundoo Channel boat ramp. Be aware that the channel is a narrow piece of water & observe the safety and speed signs.
** PLEASE NOTE: no Jetskis are permitted to be used in Mundoo Channel or in and around the Coorong National Park.
