This 2-bedroom, 2-bathroom vacation rental boasts a flat, nearly 2-acre mountain yard with the property backing up to a working farm with horses, goats, sheep, and other farm animals. Enjoy the wildlife and scenery from the large, covered porch or warm up at the fire pit. Hike the famed Yellow Mountain Trail located less than a mile away!

This was the perfect location to view the changing seasons. The home had been completely restored on several acres and decorated perfectly. Perfect outdoor porch with seating and of course a grill . Dog friendly too.

Misty Mountain Hop stay

It was an excellent choice! The dogs really enjoyed the fenced in yard. Great location with a very short drive into Highlands to enjoy our favorite restaurants. Accommodations were very comfortable with a well stocked kitchen. We are already planning on booking this place for next years annual spring trip to Highlands.

Great property and best host ever!

Great spot to relax and unwind in the country, yet near to all the things Highlands has to offer. Home is well equipped with everything you need for a comfortable and easy stay. We loved sitting on the back porch and our pup loved the big fenced in yard. To top it all off, the host was amazing. We were there during hurricane Helene and he did everything possible to help us through a couple of crazy days. Highly recommend this Highlands retreat.

Our Favorite Vacation Spot

We love staying at Misty Mtn Hop! The house is perfect and we get to bring our dogs. If there’s an issue ( it’s rare) but Landy is extremely responsive! The house is located less than 5 miles from downtown Highlands. We come for a month, every summer!! Can’t wait to return. Thank you, Landy!

Had an awesome stay with my pups here! The most comfortable mattress I have ever slept in, well stocked with everything you may need. Greets you with chocolates, water and even dog cookies for our pups. Enjoyed the wide selection of movies with fire place on! And the convenience of a fenced yard was icing on the cake. Highly recommend.

Misty Mountain Hop stay

We made an excellent choice in choosing this property. The dogs loved the fenced in yard. Accommodations were great but be prepared for very high beds. We found a stool that I could use to get in and out of bed. The wife just hopped right up. LOL! We are already planning on trying to book this property again for our annual visit to Highlands next spring.

Such a Peaceful Place

We love the Highlands/Cashiers area and needed to get out of the Florida heat. We chose this rental because it had a fenced in yard so, we could bring our pups. It was perfect! The home was decorated so nicely and was well appointed. The kitchen has everything you could possibly need. The new counter ice maker was very convenient It's located 5-10 minutes from downtown Highlands. Cashiers is only about 20 minutes away so, it was a perfect location. The road it's on is very quiet and we enjoyed walking the dogs, everyday. Just being able to sit outside, on the porch and enjoy the cool mountain air was wonderful! Landy was extremely helpful and always got back to us promptly. We enjoyed our stay so much, we rented it out for another month, next summer. Highly recommend!

The BEST!

My Labradoodle and I spent 10 days at Misty Mountain on Cole Mountain Road in Highlands, NC. The house and yard were immaculate when we arrived. Landy, the hostess, has seen to even the smallest of details like dog toys in the box next to the fireplace and black face cloths in the bathrooms for makeup removal. The kitchen had everything needed for cooking and storing meals to setting the table for a crowd to just me! Light switches were labeled. Instructions for use of the tv to the ventless fireplace logs were thorough and easy to follow. The bed was comfortable and the linens were of good quality. Nothing was unthought of as far our needs were concerned. We could not have been more pleased or felt more welcome. We look forward to being guests in the future at Misty Mountain.

Wonderful property

I can't say enough good things about this property. It looks like it has recently been refurbished and it was done very well. The bedrooms were good sized with very comfortable beds (although you may need a step stool to get into them). The living room is also very comfortable with all the electronics one would need including a good selection of DVDs and a player. The kitchen was appointed with up-to-date appliances including a great coffee maker that could accommodate either K-cups or ground coffee. There is also a counter-top ice maker which we used extensively. Outside is a deck with nice furniture, a gas fire table and a gas barbeque. There is a large, fenced-in lawn where the pups could run to their heart's content. Beyond that was a large fire ring and surrounding chairs which, unfortunately, we didn't take advantage of. Highlands is only a 15-minute drive away with a selection of shops and good restaurants (which are pretty spendy considering the fare). As I said, I can't say enough nice things about this property and would re-rent it in a heartbeat.

The Perfect Spot!

This was the perfect space! We had two couples and it felt so cozy (indoor and outdoor fire options). The living area was spacious and the large couch accommodated all of us while watching a show or movie. It was just a quick drive to the wedding we attended. The owner was so responsive and accommodating. We’d definitely stay here again and recommend to other travelers!

Shhhh!! The secret is out…this new property was exactly what we were looking for. The property was immaculate and the fenced in yard was perfect for our dogs. The house was so well-equipt. Anytime we thought of something we needed, it was there. The location was so convenient to the restaurants and shopping in Highlands. Communication was easy and very responsive. Great mountain weekend!!

Exactly the rental we were looking for!

We took a chance on this new listing and are so glad we did! It is located in a quiet and very private area about 10 minutes from downtown. The bedrooms are spacious and the beds slept beautifully. My husband appreciated the great internet service and work desk which allowed him to get some work done while there. The bathrooms and kitchen are all gorgeously tiled, and the fixtures and appliances are brand new. Most importantly for us, the property features a mostly flat yard with a large fenced-in area, almost impossibly to find in a mountain rental, that was perfect for our dogs to run and play. We also enjoyed the wonderful views from the fire pit and from the expansive from porch. Everything was planned perfectly for our visit and communication before our arrival was top notch. This rental checked all of our boxes and is going to be our new Highlands go-to house whenever we visit the area! We are already looking at re-booking in the fall.
