Lovely place to spend a night on our road trip in May. Sun streaming in the windows made it very cosy. Comfy bed. Four Square close by. Highly recommend.
Excellent cabin beautifully designed and decorated, was in a convenient location and the view was fantastic of the Hokianga heads and sand dunes. Will definitely book here again very nice.
There's everything you need here for a short stay, it's so well set up and very comfortable. We'll be happy to stay again when we're in Opononi, thankyou!
First time travelling the Opononi and photos dont do this place justice, we arrived on a sunny day and were blown away by the gorgeous view from the balcony, where we later enjoyed a wine to watch the sunset over the sand dunes. The room was spacious and clean, we stayed in several similar properties whilst in NZ and this was the only one that had a kitchenette with a sink, so we appreciated the convenience. The shower was powerful and the bed was so cosy. When parking we were a bit confused on which property was ours (we were at the back property) this probably would have been obvious if we had internet and could just access the photos from the listing but as we are from overseas we were relying on wifi.We also had a little trouble with access to the lockbox and wifi but the host was very quick to respond to our queries and very friendly.
Great little bolt hole with everything that you need
Bed was brand new, the shower was amazing - especially after a hard day of mahi.
My husband kept asking me to make one of those special coffees (they have a Nespresso with milk frothier)
Amazing views out of the windows of the Hokianga Harbour and sand dunes, it was lovely to sit on the deck and watch the sunset - which is truly one of the most spectacular sunsets to be had.
Ample parking we arrived with a huge horse float and the area more than accommodated for this as well as our large SUV.
All up we would have no hesitation in recommending anyone to stay here.
Oh yes, there is ramp access to the property so this would be ideal for people in wheelchairs etc
This little cabin has potential, & we enjoyed sitting on the deck - lovely views. The poor standard of cleaning let it down. I wonât elaborate as I already communicated with the owner who was very prompt to respond as I was concerned about the fridge but it was just âslow to chillâ. He might consider doing spot checks of his properties, & invest in some new pillows (& pillow protectors)
I drove straight passed the Road as there was no Rd sign. I could only identify it because I usedMy Maps app and had a similar experience in Thames several months ago. I found the toaster had not been cleaned if crumbs and feel that the sealant at the bottom of the shower door look grimy and should be replaced. Otherwise I slept well and everything went like clockwork
We enjoyed the lovely view out to the sandhills. Small but well thought out unit with parking right next to the unit. Very clean with a heat pump/ air conditioner which was very useful. Wifi worked well.
The property is perfectly located. Great view and stunning scenery around.
Inside is all you need. Everything was clean. VERY comfortable bed and pillows.
We have owned this property for 2 years and it is our pride and joy. Opononi has always been a very special place to us and we have poured our heart and soul into this cottage and cabin, with the intention of making it an unforgettable stay for each and every one of our guests. We are very proud of what our properties offer and hope that you enjoy all the little touches we have added :) Have an amazing stay!! - Blair & Josh
The views are worth it alone - but we have also made sure that every part of the cottage and cabin is well thought out - we stay at places all around the world and have learnt what makes a place comfortable and enjoyable. Hopefully we have created the perfect stay for anyone who chooses to book with us.
Fishing is very popular in the Hokianga, whether from the shore line/boat/wharves. Pete at Hokianga Express offers fishing charters so contact this local to ensure you catch your dinner. A major activity here is the sand board riding on the golden dunes. Pete at Hokianga Express operates every day across the harbour with the first trip at 10am and every 30mins there after until everyone is safely back in Opononi. Pete operates from the Opononi wharf and bookings can be done through the I-SITE. There is a great swimming hole/pools at South Head-park at the end of Signal Point Rd walk through the track to the left down to the beach. Turn right about 50-75m and youâll find a slightly elevated large flat rock, climb up there is a lovely fresh salt water pool about a meter deep. This is only accessible at about 4hrs either side of high tide. WALKS HOKIANGA is provided for you to explore the area. There are many local attractions in the Hokianga - too many to mention here but there is plenty of information available at the I-SITE in Opononi. There are some leaflets in your accommodation to get you started.
