From beginning to end this was an extremely convenient and comfortable stay. The morning views are unbelievable. I cannot say enough good things about this property and the host. Excellent communication through out our stay.

Western Shores Adventures

This is a lovely property close to all of the beautiful beaches. It's a great place for exploring from Burntcoat to Rose Bay. It was clean and very comfortable for 4 adults! Kudos to Shirley!

Beautiful spot on Western Shore!

This lovely home was very well equipped with everything you need for an enjoyable week by the ocean. Our hosts were responsive to us when we had questions. We will definitely return and highly recommend to others who want to experience the beauty of the region with lots of outdoor activities and fine dining.

The Perfect Location!

Shirley's cottage was the perfect location along the Southern Shore! Any exploring we wanted to do was just a quick, easy drive away. The cottage was exceptionally clean, and was equipped with absolutely everything! Couldn't have asked more a more perfect spot to spend our week in lovely Nova Scotia. Relaxing week

We enjoyed this opportunity to slow down and relax. The cabin was cozy and very clean. It was thoughtfully stocked with gifts of local eggs and homemade cider, along with all the necessities. We did not meet the hosts, but they were welcoming and attentive through VRBO messaging. This is a scenic spot and a good home base for visiting the area.

Peaceful

The perfect place to get away and reconnect with family. We had an amazing time just being able to talk, play cards or cook together. A quiet peaceful sanctuary close to some beautiful places. The little extras were appreciated, fresh eggs in the fridge, homemade cider and chocolates in the bedrooms. A 10 out of 10. Would stay again.

The cottage was spotless and very well appointed. Especially the kitchen: came supplied with both pod and drip coffeemakers - and coffee along with some other staples. Communication with the owners was clear and timely. While the property lot runs down to the sea at Western Shore, the cottage was not truly "ocean front". It is set back from the ocean a bit but we could sit right beside the sea. Lovely!

Perfect stay

This was a perfect ending to our trip around Nova Scotia. It was the most comfortable and relaxing spot to wind down and we were gifted a visit from the "Bluenose". As we sat at the firepit she just lowered her sails and anhored right in front of us. Very special. Shirley is an amazing and thoughtful hostess. We wanted for nothing. Bed was very comfortable and the welcoming cider was a lovely touch. Would highly recommend this accommodation. We loved that we were totally private even though there were other homes nearby. The entertainment was the free range chickens. A beautiful spot.

We appreciated the well equipped cottage. It had literally everything you could want or need. We also appreciated how clean it was.Unfortunately the check-in was not as we expected and we had to engage the neighbour to assist by calling the owner for the lockbox code. We later found out that the owners’ dog had died the day before our arrival.The views of the water and morning sunrises from the deck and inside the cottage are amazing. The weather was perfect everyday. The “beach” is extremely rocky and thus the water was not accessible to go for a swim. We enjoyed the chairs near the water.The location is between the towns of Chester and Mahone Bay. We travelled extensively to many places including Cape Breton (Cabot Trail). You do need to have a vehicle to go anywhere. The area is not safe for walking alongside the busy highway with little room from the vehicles speeding by until you reach a small wild rose park. I was nervous walking that route on a daily basis with my little dog. If you’re not into walking then there’s no issue.

The municipality of Chester operates 46 kilometers on the abandoned railway from Martins River To Hubbards The crushed dust and flat terrain make travel ideal for walkers, cyclists, off-road vehicles and the occasional horseback rider. This trail is minutes from the cottage just up the lane and across the rd. Unfortunately the municipal trails are closed in response the province wide fire ban. There is also sidewalks leading up to the boardwalk, wharf And local restaurant.

My husband and I stayed for 5 days at the beginning of October. At the time that we booked the accommodations there were not yet any reviews but we thought we would take a chance. We were not disappointed. The accommodations were spotlessly clean. The kitchen was well equipped if you choose to cook which we did. There are lots of extras in the cottage to make your stay even more pleasant. Very warm and inviting. It reminded me of European bnb or vrbo. There is a fantastic covered porch to enjoy Beautiful place for a morning coffee to and evening cocktail. There is also a fire pit right at the shoreline stocked with wood go your evening fire. There is not a single thing not to like about the place. Shirley and Jack were great. Readily available should you need anything. Would have no hesitation in recommending this accommodation.

It is truly a pleasure to know when your guests have enjoyed their vacations.

This ocean property is located very close to Oak Island Inn, the private beach overlooks the infamous Oak Island, the Chester Yacht Club and the numerous Islands of Mahone Bay.
Nothing quite like enjoying a roaring fire, and your favotite beverage while overlooking the shore and all the water activities.
Check out Mahone Bay, Chester and Lunenburg for numerous restraunts, markets and stores. The historic Cuty of Halifax is just an hour away.

Quels sont les atouts de cet hébergement ?

It has a relatively large lot, it’s own private beach and a country feel. Fresh eggs from the neighbors!
