My colleagues and I had a great time staying at Jose's place. There was plenty of space to cook and work together. The yard and the view is incredible. I would book again any time!

Perfect Stay

I stayed here with my 92 year old father, 90 year old Aunt, cousin and niece - a family trip crossing 3 generations. Jose's property is beautiful - location, house, views, amenities, and owner! It was a super chill vacation and Jose provided us with excellent recommendations for food and beaches. The house is beautifully appointed and comfortable. If I have the opportunity to visit Oahu again, I will certainly stay here if it's available.

Fabulous view home

We absolutely loved our stay in this spacious view home overlooking Honolulu. Gorgeous hardwood floors, large outdoor /indoor dining , big well equipped kitchen, lovely en-suite bedrooms all beautifully furnished! Easily accommodated 4 adults The host gave us great suggestions for dining very helpful, even prepared a lovely dinner for us!!!

Honolulu view

We had a lovely time in this home, perched up a hill overlooking Honolulu. The property owner Jose was very available - next door, actually - and very accommodating. The house stays cool with lovely breezes and there's a great backyard space.

We were so blessed with this property. The house looks way better than the pictures. The view is breathtaking and the location perfect. The rooms are spacious, very clean and well kept. The kitchen has everything. We definitely recommend this gem of a house and will stay their again. Jose is the BEST!!!! Gracious gentleman and very accommodating!

Makki guesthouse

Property was lovely, convenient location near Waikiki and house itself was well maintained. The owner was very helpful, helping us with dinner reservations, moving our car every day in the narrow driveway. Should be aware that you are sharing some common spaces (gym/rec area, outdoor lawn) with other renters so if you want privacy this may not be the place for you. As we were there for business and out during the day, this was not an issue

Catherine didn’t explain that the gym has a complete separate entrance from the rest of the house and only my 12 year old daughter who’s a tennis player uses the gym with her coach couple of times a week. Other renters do not use the gym, and nobody else uses the backyard.

Great place to stay in Honolulu

Great house to stay in on Oahu. Beautiful view over the city, esp. at night. House is very well-provisioned. Could have a bigger TV, and in the family room, but didn't watch it much at all since we were enjoying the island and view. Only other thing that would have improved our visit was if AC was available. Even with the breezes and ceiling fans it got pretty hot inside the house. Jose was great to work with, and very responsive to communications.

Thanks for your comments Dave. AC is something we decided a long time ago not to have because the house is very cool in the evening as it is protected from the afternoon sun by the banyan tree on the yard. We understand that some folks are used to have AC on all the time in their own homes and will miss the coolness of AC when traveling but As much as I appreciate your comments, we have been doing this for over 7 years and we rarely hear anyone ask for AC but I understand your comments. Wonderful home and fantastic view!

Our family regularly vacations in Hawaii and we absolutely loved staying at this home. We have 4 teenage/pre-teen daughters and this was wonderful for parents as well as the kids. The view is amazing during the day and at night. I enjoyed lounging on the Master Bedroom lanai. The roof is built so even if it is raining, you can still sit out there. The house is very spacious. We were able to host dinners for local family and friends - they were also impressed with the house and view. We used the pool table regularly and even the gym a few times! We would definitely recommend this house.

Absolutely beautiful house and location

We rented this property for our family of 8-parents and teen/young adult kids. There was more than enough space for all of us especially withe the patios, balconies, and backyard available for our use. The large kitchen and dining areas were perfect for the 8 of us to cook and share meals together. The rooms and bathrooms were spacious and well supplied. We made use of the weight/exercise/pool room, enjoyed some spectacular idea of Honolulu and Diamond Head, and the best bonus was fresh mangoes off the tree every day! Jose was a kind, thoughtful, and generous host from beginning to the end of our trip even giving us a tour of the tree house. Would highly recommend this house and hope to have the opportunity to stay here again.

Magnificent Views Property

Our family had an amazing time on this property!! There was plenty of space for our party of 8. The property was clean, well kept, & the beds were comfortable. The views were truly magnificent in the mornings & in the evenings. The property location is centrally located, making travelling super convenient at all times. The pool table provided us with plenty of entertainment for the evenings that we stayed in. Jose was very quick in answering all of our inquiries while we were there and was always available for us when needed. He even offered us a ride to pickup our rental vehicle in the morning! Our family had a wonderful stay on the property and would definitely return back again for our next family trip. Thank you Jose!

Ohana experience

If you want a truly Hawaiian (Ohana) experience, this is the house for you. The owner and others share the property, while you stay in the main house. The view of downtown is impressive in the daytime and the nighttime. The house is spacious, with spaces for relaxing, 4 bedrooms, 4 full bathrooms and a half bath. There is a pool table that we enjoyed, as well. The location on the hill allowed for ocean breezes to usually cool the bedrooms by nightfall, but it could get warm during the day. The house was comfortable, with a useful kitchen, but the whole house could do with a deep clean. Jose was friendly and gracious, as were everyone else we met on the property.

Correction: The house isn’t shared with anyone else and there are no “others.” We have another unit above garage which is completely separate and on another property all together with its own entrance. As for the deep cleaning mentioned, we do it every time we have TIME but it’s impossible to do a deep cleaning on back to back stays due to time constraints. the window bases get dusty from time to time but this is the first time in 12 years that someone even mentioned about deep cleaning. I have one helper who lives in the treehouse and I don’t want future guests to have the impression that they will be sharing their rental, that’s not the case.

What an awesome property - a hidden gem!

Brought mom to Hawaii to be with her sister and brothers and our stay in this home just minutes from relatives was so perfect! Family enjoyed gathering here for some much needed family time. The views overlooking the city are amazing. The grounds of the property are spacious and we utilized and enjoyed the yard, along with having morning and evening beverages sitting on the patio. Cooking for our group was fun in the open kitchen with all the amenities. The house is beautifully furnished with lots of open space. Jose recommended many local places with great food. We had the wonderful opportunity to socialize with Jose and meet some new friends - great memories. We will most certainly be back to this house our next trip to Hawaii. The location is perfect, minutes away from Waikiki and local beaches, yet private and a great get away from the hustle and bustle of the hotels. Highly recommend this property to everyone.

The genuine Hawaii experience!

We stayed in Waikiki the first 2 nights and then went to the house. It wasnt until the first night in the house that we truly felt like we were in Hawaii. Highly recommend this property, we didn’t want to leave. The house is incredibly spacious, clean and in a perfect location. All amenities were working, we used the grill multiple nights. The house is a quick drive into the city but also not more than half hour drive from some great hiking spots and beaches. There is a stunning view of the city, especially at night. The hammocks by under the mango tree were definitely one of our favorite parts. Jose is an extremely kind and helpful host. He recommended so many great local places, from beaches to restaurants to coffee shops. This beautiful home along with Jose's amazing hospitality is what made our trip extraordinary!

Amazing house, huge space, great views, helpful host

My family of 8 had a great stay in Jose’s house. We stayed for a few days and enjoyed all of the wonderful spaces- the huge yard next to the generous mango tree, the comfortable hammocks outside, the spacious back patio with huge outdoor dining table, and the multiple gathering spaces inside the house. With a group our size, we especially loved all of the separate bathrooms. The master bedroom and bath is amazing! Jose was incredibly helpful and communicative every step of the way, and easy to contact or accessible in person if questions ever came up. He even helped us maneuver the cars we rented from him in the narrow driveway every day, sometimes multiple times per day! Which we greatly appreciated. As others mentioned, there’s no AC but the bedrooms were cool and comfortable in the evening so no complaints. Overall, great space and great stay. Highly recommend.

Definately a Home away from Home!

It is looking like our visits to Hawaii may become an annual vacation :-) ... so excited - and this is our favorite home to stay in! Last year we gathered family from different states and locally to bring our older relatives together for some quality time, and this year was a bit more relaxed. Since it is not our first time in Hawaii, we spent most of our days hanging out at the house, entertaining and playing games. The patio doors in the kitchen open all the way to make you feel as though you are sitting outside, which was perfect, since it was rainy season. The house is furnished beautifully and very comfortable. The yard is a perfect spot to watch the fireworks from Waikiki on Friday evenings or to just hang out and enjoy some sun. Jose has become family to our group and such a pleasant host. We are fortunate that he is willing to share his home/property so that our time away is perfect! I used to enjoy staying at hotels until I stayed here. This will always be my go to home while I am in Hawaii. Highly recommend this property.

Awesome location, host, house, and view!

We recently stayed at Jose's home with a group of us for a conference in Honolulu and this couldn't have been a better place to stay! It was very easy to get to the convention center and most anywhere we needed to, as this location was quite centrally located. The nice thing about being there was we were close to everything, but far enough away to be quiet and ability to enjoy the view from the house. The house is spacious and homey, with plenty of room for everyone. We really loved the kitchen, which was furnished well with most anything you would need. Having four bedrooms with included baths was perfect, giving us space and privacy. It is nicely furnished and immaculate. Jose couldn't have been a better host! He made sure we had sufficient bath and bed linens and gave us tips about places we could go that we would have otherwise not known. He knows the area well and stays close by, so it makes it easy to readily get help as needed. We highly recommend this home for a stay in Honolulu, particularly for large families or groups. You would be hard pressed to find a better home for a better value!

Fantastic Home in Honolulu Waikiki

We really had a great time in this fantastic house. The house is situated between Honolulu and Waikiki in an secure and quiet upper middle class neighbourhood. No traffic because it is at the end of the road. Far enough away from the highways that there is no noise from police, fire and emergency cars. The view of the city is truly spectacular. If you have kids they can be noisy without trouble from the neighbourhood. The property is spacy and not to close to other houses. Nice and spacious rooms, Spectacular view from the master bedroom. Luxury Bathrooms. Supermarket, Safeway, is only 5 minutes away by car The Banjan Tree close to the lanai is a marvel of nature and a landmark. We enjoyed the barbecue place almost every evening.. Kitchen Fridge are spacious, coffe machine is top. If there are any problems you can always ask the owner, who organized an Brazilian style barbecue for our hawaiian evening. Children Friendly. We checked some other Homes before we decided to rent this hous for our vacation, and we were absolutely sure that we were lucky to rent this house instead of others. If we ever travel to Hawaii again I always woul ask the owner to rent it to us again. Absolutely 5 Stars !

The Perfect Rental

While my fiancé & I were looking for accommodations for Hawaii for our destination wedding, we knew we didn't want your ordinary and typical hotel but instead we wanted a beautiful place where a couple of our family members and we could stay and enjoy the view and ambience of the place. I also wanted a place that would be beautiful for "getting ready" photos for the wedding, which are pictures of the bride and groom getting ready for you who don't now what those are. I must say that we couldn't have picked a better place! This is an absolutely breathtaking home. Let me tell you why. It's on a hilltop and overlooks the city so you have this amazing view from the kitchen and the living room. It took my breathe away every single moment I was there and especially in the morning and at night when you could see the city lights. My family absolutely loved staying there. The house also has this really green backyard (which also overlooks the city) that our wedding photographer, who so happened to be a friend of the owner of the house, told us that the house was so beautiful that she just wanted us to take our first look photos there. We completely recommend staying here. Here are some more really important facts about the house: 1. Extremely clean 2. Nice and Roomy 3. Beautiful Kitchen 4. Has a gym room and a pool table 5. Has a propane grill 6. Great location (great neighborhood)

Hospitality to the MAX! Beautiful house worked out perfectly for our combined families of 10.

Couldn't have asked for a more perfect house, location and owner! Jose was more than hospitable and at the very beginning told us what he expected of us and what we could expect of him. Jose and his daughter Isabella live on property. No surprises! The house is beautiful and spacious with the exercise/play room as a bonus. It provided extra entertainment and actually kept kids off their electronics. The tree house was unexpected and a huge bonus. Ken, the builder, went over and beyond to teach the kids how to rope climb up to the tree house at the end of his work day. He spent several days going over different techniques to instill safety. Jose was always available and made sure we didn't need anything If we did, all we had to do was ask. We now consider Jose ohana. Jose let us know that there would be a little construction noise during the day and they were always very considerate to not create excessive noise. They would also check with us each day before they started work. When Jose was not available, his friend Derek, was there to help. Highly recommended for a large family group. This is his private home that he allows us to share with him so we can enjoy the spectacular views of the city. The neighborhood is very quiet. Our family is sold on this location! Thank you Jose for a great experience!

Stunning property, get it while you can!

This property is a heavenly getaway with jaw-dropping views. You definitely feel like you’re in a luxurious tropical getaway. The details In this lovingly constructed home are beautiful. To top it off, Jose is building an incredible treehouse in the banyan tree. This treehouse is going to end up in architectural digest for on a television show because it is out of this world and we were lucky enough to get a tour. Kevin, the treehouse builder and property manager pulled a coconut off one of the trees and cut it open for us. My favorite spot was the balcony off the master bedroom. I could’ve stayed there all day. As in most Hawaiian homes there is no AC but all the rooms have ceiling fans and even in July it cooled down enough at night to be comfortable. Be aware that you are sharing the property with others, however the home is exclusively yours. The downstairs gym has a separate entrance and is used by Jose‘s daughter and her coach. There is a tenant in the basement, But I never heard her and I only saw the top of her head one day as she was walking from the side of the house to her separate entrance. Kevin, the property manager lives in the treehouse while he’s working on it. He’s friendly and respectful of your need for privacy. One or two people also live above the detached garage and we barely saw them. Unless you are looking for a getaway from all people, this place is a 10 out of 10. Would definitely book this again.

Thanks Katrina, Correction, my daughter doesn’t live in my property and neither her coach. Her teenis coach used to live there 5 months ago so you got the information wrong. Nobody lives above the garage, I rent it to airbnb once in a while. Thanks for staying here

Surprise - Owner Family Onsite & No Privacy

The Good: The house is nice, spacious & has everything you need. The view is great, the treehouse on property is amazing, & the owner is nice. The Bad: The listing is being misrepresented & we felt duped. Based on the description we did not expect the owner, his family & dog to be living in the basement or that we’d be sharing any space, like the gym & outdoor areas with them & others during our stay. We specifically rented this house because it mentioned “magnificent views & privacy” in the main header & because of the gym. We were really looking forward to having the whole family together in a space just for us for this momentous occasion of so many milestones birthdays and moving our daughter into college. Instead, we found ourselves having to be uber-cognizant of all the other people around us so as to not disturb them or intrude on their space, privacy & vacations. It became hard to use the gym, outdoor seating area, jacuzzi, hammocks or even have a private conversation since we knew other people might be in the space & were also in the basement, other house & in the treehouse. Needless to say, we were very disappointed & had no option to leave so it took us all a few days to adjust to the situation. This owner needs to set clear expectations that he, his family & dog live on-site in the basement, that there are other renters in the house on property & in the treehouse & that people will be sharing common space. Niceness does not excuse the misrepresentation.

Absolutely beautiful home with gorgeous city views

My friends and I, a group of 7, stayed here at this location for 7 nights. The place was absolutely stunning and had everything we needed for our stay in Hawaii. It had a big backyard that overlooked that part of the city, mountain ranges and even the sunset. The location was perfect and not too far from Waikiki and any of the beaches. The separate bathrooms was so convenient for our big group. Checking in was very easy as Jose gave us a little tour of the house going over some house rules. Jose even his gave us a tour of his Treehouse which was awesome. The house was very clean and had every amenity our group needed. It had a big living rooms, gym, a pool tables, jacuzzi, hammocks and so much more for all us to enjoy. Communication with Jose was great as he was accessible anytime. Parking was not a problem at all as he even offered to drive our rental cars in and out of his narrow driveway for us. Although there is no AC in his house, it was honestly not a problem at all. The house was located at a high elevation where the cold breeze cooled the house throughout the day. There was even ceiling fans at every bedroom which helped a lot. Overall, I would highly recommend this place with no complaints. 10/10 would come back again.

Very beautiful place in Oahu

This place is great for big families. We were there for my daughter’s wedding and the place was able to accommodate the whole family. The view is gorgeous of the city. The gym was awesome and the kids (20’s) loved the pool table. The host was very accommodating in allowing us to rent his car from him (although we were charged an extra day since were there for only 4 nights and not 5), but it was convenient to have. The treehouse there is beyond amazing.

Other than property owner being around all the time, we had a wonderful time & property is lovely.

Location, location, location...beautiful views and very comfortable...beyond that, the 100+ year old Chinese Banyan tree keeps this home cool throughout the year and provides a home within a home to many different birds and a soothing sounds to waking up to every morning.
