Newly Renovated in 2023, a spacious back deck on the canyon side of the cottage permits you to dine on the very edge of paradise. Canyon Cottage is 2 km down on the right. No matter where you are coming from your choice of the destination is waiting for you with automatic lights from the car port. Arriving at night will be flashed to the front door.
Town you will fall in love. Tired from city smoke want to relax, enjoy mountain freshness in 90 minutes drive from Sydney. It was first named by Governor Macquarie who, passing through the area on his way to the new settlement at Bathurst, declared 'it having a rather wild heath-like appearance, I have named it Hounslow.' On his return sixteen days later he changed his mind and on 15 May 1815 he wrote in his diary 'This place having a black wild appearance I have this day named it Black-heath. It affords however plenty of good water for man and beast and tolerable good feed for the latter.
We enjoyed a lovely 3 day break snuggled around the wood fire place watching the wild birds enjoying the private garden. The view is stunning and the home rustic and cozy - no need to leave but close to all amenity if you do. We will be back!
Beautiful property with great views. Stayz did not email they key combination 24hrs prior to arrival as we were told. Cleaner did not empty the bathroom bin. Other than this the property was great and we would love to come stay here again.
The property is lovely with amazing views and our stay was very enjoyable.
However, we had booked for 6 adults and this booking was accepted listing 6 adults. We knew it was 2 bedroom and expected a fold out lounge/sofa but there was not. There were only 2 queen size beds. We were lucky one occupant did not come and we only had 5 but one slept on the lounge - extra bedding was available but no covers on extra quilts or pillows
Very much enjoyed our short stay. Picked the week of the rain and floods which was unfortunate. But appreciated the log fire, central heating and electric blankets. View was amazing when the clouds parted briefly. Couches were comfy but probably could do with new covers. Fridge needs to be upgraded and outdoor sensor lighting to the house was not working. We were stuck inside most of our stay thank goodness for the big glass windows and doors that framed the picturesque garden and view. Would definitely recommend. Very relaxing
I booked the cottage for nostalgia reasons - my husbands parents built it so we were really excited to stay there.
Checkin was easy, cottage booklet was detailed, it was toasty warm from the central heating, the views were spectacular and the location was ideal.
Unfortunately it went downhill from there for us. If it was $200 a night it would have been value for money but at over $1300 for 3 nights midweek we were underwhelmed. There was only firewood for one night so we spent $30 for more. There was only 2 rolls of toilet paper, the oven wouldnât turn on and we couldnât get tv reception(I understand you canât control the weather) . The bed linen was clean but old, the furniture was old, and the carpet was threadbare in places. The bathroom was clean and new but the light fittings were covered in cobwebs.
Iâm sorry I canât be more positive overall but I thought youâd appreciate my feedback
A simple property in a perfect location to explore the Blue Mountains. The view is absolutely amazing. Parrots and cockatoos feed from the bird feeder and the Satin Bower birdâs bower in the front garden is a delight. We had a very enjoyable stay.
