NOW FEATURING HIGH SPEED FIBER OPTIC WiFi! SWITZERLAND TRAIL RETREAT is just that - a wonderful retreat just 3.5 miles from Lake Moomaw! This lovely ranch home is fresh and almost brand new after a complete remodel with new furnishings, floors, windows, HVAC and paint throughout. The cozy home has a deep front porch overlooking a peaceful valley. The living room has a beautiful stone wood-burning fireplace and a large stack of firewood is provided for the fireplace or outdoor fire pit! The eat-in kitchen is well appointed and includes everything needed for preparing your own meals. Stream your favorite TV shows and programs on ROKU - PRIME & Netflix included as well as many free channels or stream your own premium channels with your personal log in information. With the newly upgraded internet service (150Mbps), movie night, zoom calls or just doom scrolling is breeze!

There are three bedrooms. Two bedrooms have queen size beds with brand new furniture and premium, comfy mattresses. The third bedroom has a bunk bed with a double bed on the bottom and twin on top! There is one full bathroom with a brand new tub/shower combo.

The home's HVAC system is state of the art and includes an ultra violet light filter that kills all viruses including COVID. There is a new UV water filtration system as well.

The cottage is located 2 miles down a well-maintained gravel country road, only traveled by the people who live there. Enjoy complete peace and quiet at this cozy cottage - a tranquil, pastoral setting by day and amazing dark skies by night. Your furry friends are welcome here (dogs only please and no more than 2. $100 pet fee applies). They too will love hanging out on the front porch that is gated or curling up with you at the fire pit!

If you are looking to get away from it all, this is the place! If you are looking for the ultimate year-round outdoor adventure location - this is also the place - just 5 miles from The Omni Homestead Resort known for its world-class golf courses, 3.5 miles from Lake Moomaw for fantastic boating, fishing and hiking, and less than 1 hour to Snowshoe Mountain Resort in West Virginia for skiing, snowboarding, tubing and more!

Great place for a getaway

We had a great time in this place, we were 3 adults and a toddler and really valued the space we had. The views are fantastic and our nights by the fireplace were the best. Hoping to come back soon!

The cottage was clean and communication was excellent. The only problems were the internet and cell service was almost nonexistent. Also it should be noted in the ad that the trail to the cottage would be best navigated with an all wheel drive vehicle.

Everything about this property was just as advertised. Clean, comfortable, cozy, peaceful, and private. Really had everything you would need for a multi-day stay. Having a rack of free firewood was the icing on the cake. We spent hours sitting by the firepit enjoying the fall scenery and watching the cows stroll around across the road. Plenty of things to do nearby, boating and fishing on Lake Moomaw, hiking, horseback riding, and we really enjoyed the wine tastings at Rock Roadhouse Winery in Hot Springs. If you are looking for a place to get away from it all, this is it! We would stay here again in a heartbeat! Thank you very much to our hostess, Beth Rogers.

My partner and I had a wonderful stay at this cabin! It’s so peaceful and quiet- makes for an excellent getaway. While we did lose power due to storms one night, it came back rather quickly and we were able to continue our fun. The cabin is not far from the warm springs pools and there’s no shortage of outdoor adventures. The host is very accommodating and even provided flyers of events nearby! We highly recommend staying here and hope to be back.

Quaint, clean getaway property. More than a little off the beaten track, but once you get there, it's quiet and well equipped, but for the TV. Internet is spotty at best and is in need of an upgrade. Cell service is hit or miss as well. Cows in pasture across the road is a bonus.

Lake Moomaw weekend

We went so one of us could swim the Lake Moomaw 1 Mile Swim. Great house, we had 4 adults and loved the porch and fire pit. We cooked breakfast each morning and had ample room for drinks, lunch food and snacks. We grilled one night. Very convenient to warm springs, Lake Moomaw, a river to fish.

Amazing secluded home

This was the best VRBO we have stayed in. It is down a long (2 mile) gravel road and there are almost no other houses. Across the road from the house are cows and always in the yard every time you come or go or look out the window are deer. There is an amazing fire pit we enjoyed tremendously every evening. The home was very clean and everything you need for a get away (good movie selection). If going to Hot Springs again, we will definitely be staying here.

Worst cabin to stay in!!!

Had lady bugs and flies in the building....the scent was horrible.....hard to find even with directions provided. Booked it for 2 nights but just stayed one night!!! Will never stay here again!!!

We are very sorry that you were unhappy with your stay. Our staff is available 24/7 to address any guest issues and would have tried to find a suitable solution had we been contacted. Our houses are checked by staff prior to every arrival to check for bugs and make sure the house is guest ready. Unfortunately, we are in the mountains surrounded by forest and this time of year, especially on warm sunny afternoons, ladybugs begin to swarm and can be in the house despite our best efforts. This cabin has been enjoyed by many others - we hope future guests will consider the many positive reviews as well!

Would want to stay a month!

Great place to get away from stress. Very clean. Well stocked as far as utensils and cooking items. Difficult to find without a map and GPS comes in and out and signage is limited and confusing if you are not familiar with the area. Would have preferred a map included with written directions. Would have also liked more directions to get to restaurants in the area (we had menus but limited GPS coverage). There are very few unless you get to Hot Springs and the Omni. The Omni is incredible. Grocery stores are limited so plan ahead.
