MURCHISON COTTAGE - Relaxing, fresh retreat from the city
A relaxing getaway just a short walk from Marysvilleâs town center. Enjoy decking areas at the front and back, plus a lovely meandering path through the property. Perfectly located near cafes, bakery, restaurants, shops, parks, lake, sports facilities, and walking trails.
This property was touted as wheelchair friendly. The path up from the car certainly was. However, when you get to the top of the path there are stairs into the house which are too close to be able to turn wheelchair around and too steep for a wheelchair to go up. Because of the compactness of the laundry accessibility through the back door is also non existent. Very frustrating.
Code to get into property was not emailed to us and we had to pack wheelchair user back into the car to go down into the village to look for an emergency after hours number to get it. Two codes later and we were finally able to get in. The list of cleaning (or else big fines) was unnecessary and unfair given that it was not a party house and we were here for a break. Imagine then the disappointment that we were asked to do all these jobs, yet the house had not been checked from the previous people and had not been dusted or cobwebbed or de-moused.Also asked to clean fridge and freezer before we left, but not so much as a bottle of milk in there to welcome us.The least friendly stayz we have ever used. A shame really when Marysville is such a pretty place
This property was well set up. Had all the amenities needed- heaters, kitchen utensils etc.
Only thing that was strange- the bunk beds bedroom, the door canât close. Very tricky to not wake up kids sleeping in there.
When we needed something, the host was very quick to respond and provide what we requested.
The house was well set up and cosy. The firewood however was damp and wet; lucky we bought our own kindling and fire starters (there were none), so this wasn't a problem in the end. Safety switch for power points tripped twice; we found that the double power point in the main bedroom of which one side didn't work. This aside the house represents excellent value for a family of seven.
This property was clean and fine - however, the bedrooms didn't have heaters, only electric blankets, and all the rooms but for the living room were freezing when we visited in the winter. Some of the kids staying with us got sick as a result. Perhaps it would be fine in summer, but wouldn't recommend in winter. Also wasn't a fan of providing a copy of my personal ID documents on check-in - not a fan of Stayz in that regard.
Enjoyed our stay lovely outlook to gardens. No firewood supplied. Short drive to town I donât think there is a footpath to walk there. Driveway to get to house on incline and rough track up to drive. Would be nice to have pillow protectors. Well appointed kitchen.
Stayed here with my kids and another couple and their kids. Everything was clean and neat when checked in. Great location close to everything in Marysville. The fireplace was great for such a cold weekend but a little firewood would be good. Great place to stay for two families!
