Beautiful lakefront retreat situated in the heart of the South Shore. Open throughout the year- seasonally decorated! Our property is located on Minamkeak reservoir hosting an ideal vacation for swimming, kayaking, fishing and bird watching.
An open plan concept home of three levels with artisan decor and plenty of room to comfortably sleep 8:
Upper Level: 3 bedrooms (1 queen, 2 double beds) and 1 bathroom (double shower and bath.)
First Level: Open concept Living Room and Dining Area, fully equipped kitchen,1/2 Bathroom, Exterior Screened Dining Area for outdoor dining/entertaining and additional open Balcony.
Ground/Lower Level: Open concept Kitchenette suite/Games area/Den, 1 Queen bed and 1 bathroom (with shower.)

Lake front views from all living space and beautiful first level balcony to enjoy your morning coffee.
A vacation home with a private driveway, natural gardens and pathways down to the lakefront dock....your own piece of paradise to explore!

We booked this place as a family getaway after our back country canoe trip got canceled due to drought. We loved staying in this spacious, lakeside retreat. It was so quiet and peaceful and the lake is pristine. There was more than enough space for our family of 4 and the home felt very grounding. The kids loved watching a deer calmly wander through the yard while they ate their breakfast on the deck. Taking the kayaks out for s paddle was also a treat. We would definitely stay here again!

Perfect spot to spend time with family

Emma’s Cottage was the perfect place, our entire family loved it. It was comfortable with all the amenities. We cooked family meals every night. Enjoyed the lake and the convenience of the location to every thing else on the South Shore. It’s even perfectly located to pop into Halifax for the day.Big thank you to Emma and her family for making us feel welcomed. We will return.

We loved our stay. Emma was very accommodating. The kitchen had everything needed. Basement bedroom was lacking space for clothes other bedrooms were great. Nice to have 3 bathrooms. The lake and kayaks were great. Perfect for family.

Heaven on Earth

We were two families vacationing together and this cottage was perfect for our group. Lots of space for everyone both inside and out, with toys, games, crafts for all. I only wish we could stay longer. The lakeside was so tranquil and restorative after a hectic travel schedule. The owner was so lovely, very accommodating and easy to reach with questions. The neighbours were wonderful. We couldn’t have been more happy with this rental and hope to return one day.

The cottage was spacious, very clean, and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The location is quiet and serene, and the lake is beautiful. However, access to the water wasn’t easy for some of our group, as it requires going down a steep hill and over slippery rocks. The indoor stairs to the bedroom are also quite steep, which made access difficult for one of our guests. Emma kindly left us local fruit, which was a thoughtful touch, and she was responsive to our questions. That said, as a frequent user of short-term rentals, I found the number of restrictive house rules concerning. In addition, being told that we were being watched by the house manager cast a cautionary tone over our stay. Overall, this is a lovely spot, but guests should be aware of mobility challenges and the more structured approach to house rules.

Great place for a quiet and relaxing vacation

We had a wonderful week here in Camperdown on Minamkeak Lake. The lake is beautiful and very quiet. We felt like we were staying at a private lake because it was so calm and peaceful. We enjoyed seeing and hearing the loons. The house is very spacious. There is more than enough space for a large family and possibly two small families. The internet connection was great which was very important to my teenage daughter. Emma is an amazing hostesses who went above and beyond to make sure our stay was perfect. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a quiet vacation.

There was 4 couples that stayed in the cottage. It was the most accommodating place. Very beautiful, quiet spot. Had everything you needed and then some. Emma was amazing. Went above and beyond to make sure our stay was perfect. Which it was. We appreciated the kayaks and canoe available. Had some great morning canoes on the peaceful lake. I highly recommend this cottage. As well as host Emma Thank you Glen, Trina and friends

Amazing place with a view that you cannot beat. The host was very communicative and helped me make last minute arrangements for our family dog to join us. Even met me to return some items I left behind. Swimming was great, kayaking and canoeing were awesome, but you can’t beat sitting in the lounger on the dock watching the sunrise. Trust me, you’ll love it! Thanks Emma! We’ll be back.

We were here for family reasons. The property is at a perfect location

The property was very clean. The owner supplies you with everything you need. Lots of lovely teas and coffees, spices, condiments, even baking supplies, blueberries and ice. The home is spacious with everything you need and if you have children (we did not) there were lots of toys and activities. The lake is large and very clear. Highly recommend this property. Emma was very accommodating. The art work in the home is bright and cheerful as well.

Thanksgiving Blessings!

My family and I visited this wonderful property for an extended Thanksgiving weekend. It was wonderful! Emma is an amazing host - greeted us in person, left us fresh berries, garlic, coupons for ice cream at the nearby market, and made sure we had everything we could possibly need to prepare a big turkey dinner with all the fixings! She provides a huge selection of loose tea and delicious coffee, and spices galore. It was a fantastic place for family (from 2 to 87) to gather. We used the canoe and kayak to enjoy this pristine (and quiet) lake. It was a beautiful Thanksgiving, with memories to treasure! Thank you Emma!!

Marvellous. Our host went above and beyond. We were fortunate to have great weather and with a Harvest moon we were actually able to see the lake-bottom at midnight. I really can't think of any constructive criticism at all . . .

Emma was the most welcoming host! Her home is a beautiful, peaceful, private get-away an hour from Halifax and easy to find. Great retreat for a family get together. Plenty of room for six adults. Beautiful property - perfect end to summer

Emma has everything covered at the beautiful home. The house is perfect with everything you need for a home from home stay. The Lake is beautiful , with great access and superb views. We stayed with another family and there was plenty of room to be together and apart. The children (8months - 12years) and the dog had a fab time in the lake, playing games and finding the best peaches on the peach each tree. We cannot wait for a return visit!

We are close to many visitor destinations in the South Shore including Lunenburg, Mahone Bay and beautiful beaches- Crescent and Rissers.
Not that you will want to leave....370Ft of private dock ready for you to explore the waters of Minamkeak lake/reservoir. Bring the camera and binoculars!
The uniqueness of our property will help you feel totally at home in a private secluded setting with the added benefits of easy access to many visitor attractions; fine dining, artisan shops, beaches and trails.

Our home offers a tranquil retreat into nature with the benefits of fully equipped open concept living. The fully screened balcony will allow you to dine out all hours and enjoy many nights of games and barbeques. All rooms are spacious and clean with views onto the lake. If you enjoy kayaking there are kayaks available to use and plenty of dock space to set out a picnic..or three! Minimakeak lake is a Municipal reservoir with clean open water and quiet activity, likely you will receive a visit from the resident loons and wild geese.
