A very tranquil stay. Just the place to unwind, with great facilities and a short drive to Port Elliot main street. Victor Harbor and Middleton within easy reach.
The smells and sounds of the country evoked a wonderful sense of peace and tranquility. We spent our 46th wedding anniversary here and enjoyed riding our bikes into Port Elliot.
The property was excellent we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and it was away from traffic but close enough to port Elliot and victor harbour. Was a fantastic, cozy and beautiful place to stay for a few nights
A private & peacful location.
The acomodation itself was beautifully presented and the bed was super comfy. All facilities were immaculate & the special touches for everything you need were provided.
Our 3 night stay was short & we could have stayed much longer if our schedule had allowed. Would definately recomened this little piece of paradise. Thankyou :-)
Nestled on a quiet farm, this lovely studio/cottage has views to the hills behind Port Elliot. Th space is very nicely set out with lovely touches and everything you need for a short stay. It is sans oven but has a microwave and stovetop. It's about a 5-10 minute drive into Port Elliot.
We went down for my wifes birthday, the cottage is beautiful. Its so quiet only the cows in the fields, some horses . We loved the way the cottage was set up , my wife (Jan) felt a home the minute we walked in,the bed was so comfortable,we didn't want to leave. I could go on for ages about the place .we will go back again soon. Cheers Paul
Was disappointed because it was listed as Premium luxury accomodation, and priced accordingly. On driving up to the property it didnât look the best ie cobwebs were abundant, The outdoor seating area covered in bird droppings and did not entice me to sit outside. Inside was acceptable but no better than any other accommodation. I would say âsurface cleanâ not a fan.
Generally, we found the place to be clean, comfortable and easily located. However we were disappointed by two things; the lack of blinds on the windows and the amount of traffic that drove past the accommodation on a private property. There is a window directly opposite the toilet that has no blind which looks right out onto the main residence and the driveway and the large bedroom window only has a sheer curtain, certainly see-through at night. This also looks out to the driveway. With the amount of cars driving past, this was indeed uncomfortable and really surprising. The front door is also bare of window furnishings and anyone coming down the driveway can see straight into the accommodation. We felt that each window should be properly fitted with blinds and it's up to the guests if they use them or not. Just a styling tip too - if you have vases in the rooms (there were four overall) and least put something in them. It doesn't need to be fresh flowers, but it then looks like you've gone to some trouble. You also need to update your information sheets - there were two of the same sheet in the leather binder and they were both badly stained - unprofessional. I also would have liked the property manager to send me a message about key collect/how to access the property etc. rather than me having to approach them on the actual day.
A short stay, but I could have stayed longer. Simple, elegant but unpretentious. A beautiful, peaceful stay. The owner was responsive to a late night communication in regard to nearby party noise, which I appreciated greatly.
Thunderbird retreat is a beautiful, peaceful retreat. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, including a sensational meal at Thunderbirds restaurant. Campbell and Kym were very responsive and helpful. Highly recommend Thunderbirds!!
