Assateague Overlook | Memorial Park Waterfront Views w/ Decks, Fishing & Unlimited Channel Scenery

This property has a location that is rich with views and amenities. Situated right next to Memorial Park, you can sit on the deck and enjoy the water views as the kids run and play, or fish and crab. The first floor is an open room consisting of the kitchen, dining area and living room (with queen sleeper sofa). You'll also find a full bath on this level. The second floor offers a queen bedroom with a private deck that has unlimited views of the Assateague Channel. The second bedroom (upstairs) has two twin beds and you'll find another full bathroom on the second level as well. Need more space? Rent Channel Lookout next door! (Waterfront area, dock, pier and playground equipment pictured are community property at Memorial Park.)

Had a wonderful stay

The location was great. The house was very nice. It was clean and well kept. The house had everything needed as far as furniture, kitchen, etc. The communication from the property manager was great and the little kitchen and bath welcome packages were a nice little surprise. Great property overall!

Nice location

Nice location if you have a young family. Short drive to all the attractions/restaurants and beach. House was very clean. Easy in and out access to home.

Perfect spot for families in Chincoteague

The Assateague Overlook is located in a beautiful spot, and the playground right next door meant that we could relax on the porch while the kids played. Our kayak trip took off from the ramp right in front of the property, and everything else was an easy drive or bike ride away. The house was clean and perfect for our family of four. We would certainly stay here again.

Great location and nice view

Simple, comfortable, fully stocked kitchen, plenty of room for a single person to stretch out and relax. Ideal space though for a couple and 2 kids. Only issue I had was with 4 remote controls I couldn't get the TV to work. There was a spectrum remote and xfinity remote, so confusing. I ended up logging onto my laptop to watch TV. Perhaps a simple instruction sheet would be helpful and I am not that old.

Good house; great location for kids!

Our family of 3 (two adults and a three year old) had a great time staying here. The location is really great: Our son played on the playground equipment next to the property every day and loved it. Most local restaurants are only ~10 minutes away (max) by car. We ate several meals on the outdoor table on the front porch and the picnic areas in the park, and it was such a lovely view. There is also a trolley stop right at the entrance to the park, which made for a really fun activity one evening (we took it to the Island Creamery for ice cream, which our son is still talking about). And the drive to the beach wasn't far. The property itself had what we needed: The room with the twin beds was furthest from the stairs, and the master was right next to it (so I wasn't worried about our son wandering down the stairs in the night). Beds were firm but fine. Appreciated all the hangers in the closet! We had what we needed to eat meals there, and we were given a care package that provided the needed amount of dish-washing soap (did most by hand and ran the dishwasher twice) and laundry detergent (we did one small load after the beach). We opted for the linen package, and had the right amount of towels and sheets for a 3-day weekend. I only have two small negatives. First was cleanliness: the floors in the kitchen felt a little sticky, and the hand rail on the stairs was pretty dirty when we wiped it down. However, I should note that we are pretty intense about cleanliness (clearly, as we were wiping down high-touch surfaces), so it may not be as big an issue for others. Second were the entry instructions: though it clearly says to twist the lock knob, it didn't make clear that you needed to pull the door toward you after twisting the lock but before twisting the doorknob itself... It was a bit of a difficult entry situation, and I feel like the directions could have been more clear. However, we ended up contacting the after-hours number, and they were very prompt and responsive. All in all, this was a good spot for us, and I can see us choosing this location again. Thank you!

Location is everything....especially if you like bicycling, fishing off a dock within walking distance, and young grandchildren who have a playground right next door. An improvement would be the screening in of one of the two porches, on either the first or second floor, so people could sit outside without the threat of mosquitoes

A great spot

My husband and two kids and I stayed here for 4 days for my birthday. The house was great! It was very clean. It was just enough space for everything we needed. I liked the location a lot - the kids spent a lot of time on the playground and the view was lovely. I loved seeing the lighthouse from the park. My only nitpicks are things people mentioned in other reviews. The queen bed did seem hard to me, but most beds do, so I bring an inflatable sleeping pad everywhere, and I was fine. My husband didn’t have a problem with it. And we could very occasionally hear the other side of the duplex. It seemed to only happen if the kids were on the stairs, and it was pretty muffled. It wasn’t disruptive to us at all, and I’m sure our kids were louder to them! I would stay here again in a heartbeat.

This property was perfect for a family of 4 with 2 younger children.The kitchen was well stocked with utensils and cookware. Our stay was off-season so there aren't available breakfast options so we did some grocery shopping and cooked each morning. Watching sunrise and sunset was a bonus with our view of the inland waters. This property has your essentials which gave us the comfort we needed as we were looking forward to exploring the island with bike riding, viewing the wild ponies, and spending time on the beach. There is a water hose available to rinse of sand and salt water from my vehicle which was a bonus! Would probably need to explore alternative property if you have a larger family and older kids.

My wife, son & I enjoyed our stay at Assateague Overlook using it as the family base station. Enjoyed beautiful waterfront view, boat ramp for Jetski, kayaking, kids play area and tennis courts. My wife and I joined the tennis group each morning for a couple hours of doubles tennis. The Overlook was clean and with 2 bathrooms served as a great base station for daily events mentioned along with group meals. Would recommend the Overlook to enhance your Island stay. We will be back!

Overall great property and service

Everything was great with one exception - there is very little sound insulation between this unit and the adjacent unit. Both mornings, I was woken up at 5:30AM by the family next to me. Their noise and activity level was that of a family with little kids unfortunately the walls did nothing to muffle it. This is the only reason I’m giving it 4 instead of 5 stars
