Driveway

The house was great, the driveway was interesting. The driveway declines extremely as soon as you enter toward the front door. At the front door the driveway continues in a horseshoe direction, extremely upward toward the road. You can get 4 cars in the driveway but the first and last will be at a very extreme angle. We only had three vehicles and it was ok.

Our vacation

#1 . The pictures were deceiving. #2 . Cabinets doors were just coming off when opened. #3. The sliding glass downstairs in one bedroom didn’t close properly . #4. The bathroom toilet was clogged and the sink didn’t drain properly . #5. The place wasn’t very clean. The outside porch had not only garbage on it but it was filthy. We couldn’t even go out there to enjoy it. Overall we thought for the money it should have been much nicer . We will not stay there again.

Amazing time!!!

We loved our stay at this cozy cabin, the place is beautiful and all areas well maintained, clean and fully functional. It is an extra perk the resort amenities it is just that the weather did not cooperate for that but this cabin has a beautiful fire pit in the back yard that made our stay well worth it and so was the provided grill. Easy to find and great access on the main road of SV. Can’t wait to return!!!

Nice vacation home

We rate the cleanliness three due to the dishwasher not working properly and we had to re-wash the plates bowls and glasses. The location was nice but the description of the property did not tell us how steep the driveway. Please beware the property is right off the road so you hear a lot of road noise.

Nice home

We were generally pleased with the property but felt there were several things that could be improved upon. We were charged an extra $100 for a pet fee but didn't feel that it was reflected in the cleanliness of the cabin. The rugs in the kitchen and living room, as well as the carpet in the downstairs guest bedroom were stained and had a pet odor. The vacuum cleaner smelled of pet odors when in use. The kitchen cabinets lacked space for storing food items and were in need of repairs (eg., broken or missing cabinet doors). The seat cushions at the dining room table were soiled and needed washed. The living room lacked adequate seating for the amount of guests that the cabin accommodates. The living room coffee/end tables were wobbly and unsafe. The downstairs 3-in-1 game table was very rickety and had broken/missing pieces which minimized its useability. The lighting in the cabin was very cozy, but extremely dim when light was needed. There was a dead tree right next to the house and others very close that needed to be removed. We have stayed in many vacation homes and it is always important to us that what we see in the pictures and description is the reality when we arrive. We felt many things weren't. With that all said, it truly is a nice, cozy house. The beds were great! We loved the convenience of the washer/dryer. The seating and fire pits outside were really nice. We arrived to empty propane tanks; however, the problem was promptly resolved. The cabin had a great layout and centralized location. We really enjoyed the nearby towns and found lots to do. The amenities (laundry soap, dryer sheets, coffee, spices, dishes, towels, linens etc.) were very helpful and appreciated. Honestly, if these improvements were made to this property, we would love to stay again.

Disappointing

Our overall impression of the property was that from the outside in it had not been maintained for a long time. We knew we wouldn't use the grill or oven as they were filthy. We struggled getting any of the sliding glass doors open, the hairdryer didn't work, the sink downstairs wouldn't drain without removing the middle piece, the furniture was not as pictured in living room, ceiling filters were dirty and the outside gutters were overflowing and debris everywhere outside/deck .cigarette butts/random toys/rugs saturated w dirt. Rugs and carpet are worn and stained. The driveway is very steep w cement that needs repair, but it was manageable. Note that we couldn't text or call for most of the trip so they may not have AT&T Carrier up there. We tried to communicate with the manager to let them know the power went out and after no assurance it would come back on (or suggestions if it doesnt) we packed up and left for fear we'd be stuck trying to leave in the dark later that day. The only text back was "It should be on by 6" (Next door the Realtor Office' power was on) Also we messaged the managing company Evolve via VRBO but they said they never received it even though we see it on VRBO on our end. Sky Valley is absolutely stunning, lovely area and we definitely plan on returning but staying somewhere else.

Cozy Cottage

The cottage was cozy and clean. Parts were more updated than others but overall very clean. Beds were very comfortable. Coffee pot didn't work but the owner responded quickly and dropped off a new one. It is very close to the road but still feels secluded. The driveway would be the biggest miss for us. Very steep and a large hole at one end makes it difficult to navigate.

Great stay in the mountains!

Great time in Sky Valley! Cabin is nice and cozy. Highly recommend a visit to Highlands, Dry Falls (paved walkway behind the falls!) and Mud Creek Falls (access road inside the Sky Valley Country Club). Easy access to the falls from the parking area. Julep Farms for a meal or just a coffee, they have the cutest Highland cows!! We did a day trip to Biltmore and it was an easy drive,

Great location, beautiful scenery, deferred maintenance

The property is in a beautiful mountain area. Very quiet, peaceful. The living room area has a very nice cabin feel with a large deck overlooking the trees. The A/C is quiet and works well. The kitchen is in need of an upgrade. The kitchen cabinets are very old and falling apart. The lower level bedrooms are quite damp and a little musty. The bathrooms have good water pressure and plenty of hot water. Otherwise, the bathrooms are in need of maintenance. I saw other comments about the driveway. It will, in fact, hold four cars. It is just a little steep to get in and out. I contacted the owner/manager twice about minor issues with no response. Once via text once, email. Bottom line, I would rent again. Nothing is perfect! PS: Try Juniper Farms Restaurant. Fantastic views of the mountains, great food and service, beautiful, newer restaurant and grounds.

Beautiful, but a few issues

This property was beautifully decorated, very spacious, well stocked and clean. The large decks and firepit / back yard area were great for relaxing. We had firewood available which was awesome. The property was not located inside the golf and country club- all of the amenities including garbage drop off were over a mile away. The driveway was very steep and you had to park single file. Very annoying if the person in the middle wanted out. Low profile cars beware!! The hot water heater SCREAMED. Every time water was turned on including in middle of the night when toilets flushed, etc. No one slept well because of this and it was especially loud in the downstairs queen bedroom.

Wonderful!

We loved our stay in this cabin! The kids enjoyed playing in the woods behind the cabin, and the fire pit was awesome! All of the details were so nice- laundry detergent by the washer, coffee and filters in the kitchen, shampoo in the shower- what a thoughtful host! Thank you! We will be back!

Loved this home away from home! Cozy cabin!

My group fell in love with 400 Bald Mountain cabin. It's cute, cozy feel, beds were comfortable, living area and kitchen were perfect for our group. Made for a perfect birthday get away.

Cool summer nights

Cabin had everything needed for a great vacation. All beds were comfortable. Fire pit and fireplace were enjoyed. We loved the location cool weather and close to many attractions.
