We loved our stay at Poplar Run Retreat. The cottage was cozy and welcoming. Alta, our host, was immediately accessible but not needed because everything we needed was already anticipated and provided. Expectations were clearly communicated with property explanations and check-out directions. We especially loved the creek side deck, listening to nature, the gentle gurgle of the creek, and watching dappled sunlight moving through the treetops in the morning while sipping coffee in the sunroom. Looking forward to returning in the spring when the walls of rhododendrons are in full bloom.
We spent our 1st year Anniversary at this lovely resort feel secluded quaint home for a weekend. It was a lovely, comfortable and charming place with a bubbling creek, hot tub, and so many cute spaces to hang out and have fun laughs and moments of peaceful relaxation. The thoughtful gift basket on arrival was a wonderful surprise. The hosts were friendly, kind and responsive. Thanks for a memorable stay!!
Excellent space with everything you could possibly need! Everything is clearly labeled and exactly where you need it. The hot tub is dreamy in the evenings. The creek was shallow and nice to splash around in. Be sure to get some ice cream at See-Mor's All-Star Grill's window just down the street. Lots of great hiking and waterfalls in the area.
If youâre looking for a peaceful getaway surrounded by nature, this place in Normalville is it! From the moment we arrived, we were blown away by how cozy, clean, and well-stocked the home was. The views are stunningâtrees, pond, creek, and the kind of quiet you donât realize you need until you have it.The house itself is beautifully maintained, with charming touches that make it feel like a true retreat. We especially loved the spacious creekside porch, the fire pit area, the hot tub, and how close it was to trails and outdoor adventures. Itâs the perfect mix of rustic and comfortable. The hosts were responsive and thoughtful, providing everything we needed for a smooth and relaxing stay. Whether youâre planning a family trip, a romantic weekend, or just a solo recharge, I canât recommend this place enough.
The cottage had a very welcoming feel when you walked in. The place was so clean and was nestled in a beautiful landscaped yard. I hope to go back in the fall and watch the leaves turn.
My husband and I stayed here for a weekend get-away. The house was very nice. Had all the amenities that we wanted and needed. Welcome basket was very thoughtful. Host was prompt with communication. The property was very relaxing. The sound of rushing water and nature made for a peaceful time to enjoy my coffee in the morning. Although the weather was not great, we were still able to enjoy the surrounding state parks which were all close by.
The Creekside Cottage exceeded expectations. We chose this property based on it's location between Polymath Park and Fallingwater and Kentuck Knob, where we scheduled tours across a weekend. However, upon check-in, we immediately wished we could stay longer. Check-in and communication was a breeze. We walked into a welcoming space with a little treat basket and note from our host, Alta. How sweet! The cottage is spacious and inviting. All the modern amenities are present, the space is spotlessly clean, and it still feels warm and relaxed. The window seat overlooking the bird feeder, yard, and creek is such a cozy spot to unwind. Everything is clearly labeled, instructions are easy to follow, and the hosts provide many extras that agency-run VRBOs lack. The entire setup is really turnkey and made us feel at ease immediately. The outdoor space is wonderful and beautifully maintained. A huge fire pit space (with wood available), plenty of seating and relaxation areas, hot tub, koi pond (with a little frog, too!), corn hole, fishing spots...there was too much to even use over the weekend we stayed. The additional cabin deck overlooking the creek offers a great spot to take in the natural beauty of the area. We're already thinking of coming back and renting the cabin as well so a few friends can enjoy this little piece of paradise with us. We enjoyed our stay and it truly felt like a home away from home - but better.
Came to celebrate my birthday weekend in Ohiopyle. The goal was hiking, relaxing, and quiet. This place was perfect ! The location was easy to get to everywhere we wanted to get to,and also the perfect spot to unwind and relax. We LOVED the hot tub, the stream in the bakyard, the deck on the creek house, and our favorite spot was the window seat to read, have morning coffee and bird watch! The house was clean and stocked.,the host responded promptly, and the welcome basket was such a nice surprise. Would love to return in warmer weather to really enjoy the property more. Definitely recommend!
We loved the quietness and coziness. Perfect place for a weekend getaway. The hot tub was icing on the cake. Having a lot of condiments is a plus as well, especially when you forget some important ones... We enjoyed our stay and will be back. Thanks for a great place!
This cottage was the absolute perfect getaway for my boyfriend and I. The property was spotless and so inviting. The hot tub was so relaxing after a long day of hiking. The deck off the creek house was excellent for morning tea. The indoor fireplace was also lovely. The host was so kind and communicated promptly and politely when we had questions. We will definitely be back.
From the time that we came down the tree-lined drive and opened up the front door to find a wonderful welcome basket, to the time that we cuddled on the couch and watched movies in front of the fireplace, this place was everything that was advertised, everything that we needed
We really enjoyed our getaway at the house. We utilized the hot tub a least once a day. It was very clean and well maintained. We enjoyed playing cornhole. It's one of our favorite activities. We used the grill which was very clean. The welcome basket was fabulous! We were in close proximity to things we wanted to do including Fallingwater, Flight 93 Memorial and Ohioplye. We would reccommend this place to anyone!
We enjoyed our stay so much. It was just what our family was looking for. In addition to the beautiful property and cottage, the owner was wonderful and took care of everything. We definitely would rent this cottage again!
The property was as-advertised. Very clean, secluded enough for privacy, and everything was clearly labeled. Expectations were few and reasonable as well. Very nice place to stay, will stay here again.
Poplar Run Retreat is a lovely place to stay for 5 nights! Alta has made sure that the cottage is well maintained with lots of extras. We enjoyed cycling the GAP and visiting Fallingwater.
My sister and I chose this property as a place to reconnect and review memories after our mother passed away. It was a perfect choice.
The owner was extremely thoughtful with the space. There were directions left all over the place which helped us out tremendously. We never had to guess on how to operate the lights, ac, TV etc. There were plenty of linens, towels and every kitchen tool you might need. The hot tub was a great place to unwind at night.
The actual property is just off the beaten path. Close enough to drive to a small market or buy extra firewood (some wood was provided), but far enough away from people to feel like you were secluded with nature. There was a little creek behind the cabins, but the water was a bit too low to go exploring.
All in all, this was a perfect place for a get away. We will definitely be back!
This was our third visit to the property. The cottage is always clean and well-maintained with pieces of nostalgia woven in. We purchased a RV at the end of April and we still decided that we will return to this property when itâs not camping season. Hopefully, that clues you in to the charm of this property.
Very comfortable and peaceful home. Sitting on the Creek House deck with the babbling brook, lounging in the hot tub, having a cozy dinner on the patio. It was all fabulous
Have lived in the area for 40+ years. We are retired and are managing this property for our son, Jason, who lives in Utah. We love to travel and stay in homeaway/vrbos often, so we know what people want and expect at a rental.
This cottage is very private, which we value. The view from the kitchen and dining area makes this cottage very special. The deck on the Creek House is available to all that rent the cottage, with or without the Creek House.
