Recently stayed at this property with my family for my sonâs 12U Cooperstown All-Star village tournament. Great location and owner communication throughout the day. Would highly recommend for anyone looking to stay out that way. Being only minutes from the park and close to the little downtown was wonderful for our family With plenty to do around the area.
Large house, all bedrooms had access to four separate bedrooms. This made is very convenient to accommodate four different families. Quick 8 minute ride to All Star Village. The owner was available to help with anything we needed to make the stay comfortable.
This will be one of the only negative reviews of a product or service I have ever written. All of my experiences in working with VRBO and VRBO owners - up to this point - have been wholly positive. Properties have been as advertised, owners have been responsive when routine issues arise and previous reviews of the property in question have been thorough and accurate. This review is an attempt to forewarn future renters based on our experience with the property so that they can make an informed decision.
If you are looking for a clean, functioning and accommodating property free of bugs and mysterious stains, where the mattresses are supportive, the furniture doesnât look like itâs 30 years old and where the TV doesnât give off an aquatic shade of blue regardless of which channel youâd like to watch, this home is likely not for you.
We had the opportunity to meet the VRBO owner upon our arrival. He seemed like a nice enough fellow, but it was hard not to notice the caution tape preventing anyone from accessing a porch on the side of the house. Turns out, the porch is literally rotting off the house (it wasnât the only instance of rot we noticed during our stay).
Did the lights turn on? Did the water run from the faucets? Were the kitchen cabinets stocked with the bare essentials? Did the toilets flush? Yes to all. However, given the rate charged, the overall lack of cleanliness, it is our opinion that this house was not as advertised.
Buyer beware. If interested, we have pictures of the property during our stay to help verify and substantiate the commentary provided as part of this review.
We had 4 families stay comfortably in this 7BR classic/historic mansion. Owner was always helpful and recommendations for eating and enjoying downtown were spot on. Will return and recommend to friends!
This was super convenient to downtown and all star village for baseball. Itâs definitely an older house, but worked for what we needed. Dave was super communicative and easy to work with. It got super hot and the AC seemed to struggle to keep up, so it got a little warm.
Home is in a nice, central location. Owner was prompt in responses to questions. House itself could use a deep clean and refreshing. We were surprised to see holes in walls/carpets, years in wall paper and evidence of water damage on ceiling and walls based on pictures in the listing. We had to do some cleaning in the kitchen on arrival - microwave, refrigerator, counters werenât clean. Met our needs
The house was is a short walking distance to plenty of restaurants and shops. A super convenient location. The inn itself (because technically it is an inn) is quite charming with lots of original touches like stained glass and wood carvings, but it could use a bit of a deep cleaning and perhaps a bit of updating. Overall, it suited our needs perfectly and was very affordable. The manager of the house was very accommodating and responsive. If you are touring colleges and donât want to stay in a hotel (and arenât too fussy about a place being âpolishedâ) this house is for you. We would stay there again if visiting Oneonta.
Dave is an excellent person and very accommodating. He made my stay a very pleasant one. Dave is an easy guy to work with and I will definitely look him up again if I need to be in the area.
We stayed in this house with our baseball family. It was very clean and a perfect location to All Star Village. Everyone in our party had a great time staying at this house . I would highly recommend. Looking forward to staying here again in a few years for our next Cooperstown visit .
We just got home from an amazing week of baseball at All Star Village. We shared this house with a few of our baseball families. The house was awesome! It is only about 10 minutes from the field and a short walk to downtown. The front porch was our favorite hang out spot! Dave is a wonderful host and highly responsive to any requests. Highly recommend this house!
The house is great for All Star Village families! Large house, Perfect location!
We had a great stay! The house was perfect for multiple families. The 4 full baths made our stay even better. The house had everything we needed for the week. The location was great for walking to restaurants and Main St. The location is close enough to All Star Village we could come home in between games!
We had a great time with family and friends at the home. In town for our daughters college graduation. House is old but very clean and comfortable. We were 1 block from her sorority house and 1 or 2 blocks walking distance to restaurants. So convenient to be able to celebrate with the grads and walk home after.
We enjoyed our stay at this lovely property. Beautiful older home, and most bedrooms have their own bathrooms, which is a plus when there is more than one couple. Very clean, and an easy walk to town. We would definitely stay there again.
The location enabled us to go back and forth between games or events, about a 7 minute drive. The house is extremely well stocked and fully equipped, clean, spacious, high quality bedding and towels.
Easy 5 minute walk into town. If you are looking for luxury modern, this is not the house as there is no such thing in Oneonta but it has everything else. We are from Los Angeles and rather fussy, so coming from us, 5 stars is really 6. A lot of the home is original, beautiful wood carvings, stained glass windows, older furniture, different from other places we have stayed. The hotel rooms at All Star Village are a 3 star maybe. Cost wise, a home is a much better choice for sleeping, meals, space, etc. The owner is extraordinarily responsive. If our grandson was playing again at All Star Village, we would definitely stay here.
Enormous house - very clean and comfortable - great location
Perfect location if your kids are playing at All Star Village - our son could come back and rest in between games. House was completely outfitted with everything we needed for our week long stay. Wonderful front and back porch - great for grilling out. Great for a large family or multiple families. Blocks from town and a gem of a coffee shop / restaurant. We will treasure our time spent at this house and in Oneonta.
First time using VRBO and will definitely use again. The house was perfect for families visiting All Star Village. Huge space and perfect location! One block to downtown restaurants so it we never had to drive after baseball was over each day. Owner was friendly and very quick to reply to any questions we had. Thank you!
The house is stunningly beautiful. If you love Victorian homes this one is a must to stay at. Grounds are beautifully landscaped, thoughtfully decorated and clean. There is nothing needed but your suitcase. Location is ideal and within walking distance to town. The host is extremely gracious and caring. We are seriously considering making this a yearly trip.
This house is set up perfectly for 4-5 families. Each room is good size and has its own bathroom. The kitchen is pretty small, so any larger scale meals are best left to either the BBQ of one of the local restaurants. The property is easy walking distance to everything downtown. The owner was very responsive and provided some great recommendations. We really enjoyed our stay!
Centrally located historic home that provides Victorian charm w/modern convenience. Great property!
We LOVED our stay at The Inn at Elm. Beautiful historic home, lots of space for large/extended families to use as a centralized hub for lodging and group gatherings. Also a great prospect for a corporate team meeting offsite destination. Located right off the interstate, central to gorgeous Oneonta.
Working with the homeowner and property manager was so easy. Amazing people that really worked to meet the needs of our family (we were all coming from across the country for a funeral / memorial service).
We are already looking forward to our next stay!
We own several properties in the area and we are listed on other sites with 5 star ratings. We make sure that our houses are updated and extremely clean for our guests. We also pride ourselves on customer service as we will help guests with all the logistics from traveling to the area as well as what restaurants, shopping, leisure activities, etc.
"This is by far the best place to stay in the area! What a fantastic house to live in for a week!!" as quoted by Fabiola a summer 2021 baseball parent from San Jose, CA. Gabriel October 2017 Best family rental in Oneonta! Stayed Jul 2021 dan n. "We had 4 families stay comfortably in this 7BR classic/historic mansion. This 4,000 square foot home built in 1890 has plenty of privacy. All of the large bedrooms have king/queen size beds and the downstairs has tons of space for everyone to relax and enjoy their vacation time.
