Great property right on the ocean with easy beach access. Outdoors and cobwebs could use some attention, but we had an amazing time as a family and look forward to coming back.
We booked Gone To Sea for our family vacation this year and we all left refreshed and happy! Starting with the areas of improvement: several electrical outlets didnât work, never received a text when the property was ready for check in, another fridge/freezer would be beneficial as the current one is small and youâll need to be careful about what you buy in advance, the ice maker didnât work, and the wifi can not support a familyâs worth of devices. Now onto the positives: The home has ample seating for family dinners, plenty of rooms/extra blankets, the top deck overlooking the ocean is equipped with luxurious furniture and a composite deck, the hot tub was clean and worked exquisitely, the beds were comfortable, the house comes equipped with several board and card games, and LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION within 5 minutes you are on the beach and enjoying the sun, sand, and ocean. Overall we would recommend Gone To Sea to any family that was looking for an OBX vacation!
For our first trip to the Outer Banks we wanted to stay right on the ocean and this house fit the bill. There are two access points for the beach- the closest one was closed for repairs but the second was only a couple more houses away in the other direction. The sound of waves was wonderful!
The hot tub was not operational for the first four days of our visit which was disappointing but communication with Village Realty was smooth and they kept us updated on the progress until it was fixed.
It was nice to have bedding and towels included with the stay along with a starter amount of dish soap, trash bags and toilet paper. If you are staying more than a couple days be sure to bring your own or just across the main road is a really nice Harris Teeter grocery store.
Cute shops are close along with tons of activities if you arenât staying during the off-season which we did. We loved the games, books and puzzles available at the house for our chilly days. Also included are skim boards, beach toys and an inflatable shark for use on the beach.
We would definitely stay here again! Make sure to fill out the guest book found on the shelf with the games because it was fun reading about other peopleâs travels!
We really enjoyed our time in Corolla at Gone To Sea. Any property managed by a company means very few necessities (ie: dish soap, paper towel, etc) so plan on going to the store. We anticipated this so it wasnât an issue. There was one roll of toilet paper on each bathroom, one roll of paper towel, a sponge and small dish soap and one packet of dishwasher cleaner. No laundry soap, no coffee filters, salt and pepper, etc. Not necessarily complaining, just want people to be aware what theyâll need to bring or buy. There were plenty of towels, sheets, blankets, pillows, etc. This is not always true with management companies so we were happy about that. As far as the property, you canât beat the location. The view was amazing, the porch was great every morning for coffee and sunrise, and there was plenty of room for our family. The entrance to the beach is mere feet away. We loved it. The hot tub was okay, not super hot (which is fine in the summer but we had a couple chilly days) and the hum from the hot tub is pretty loud in that bedroom itâs adjacent to. This was a minor annoyance. Bottom line is we would definitely rent here again, in a heartbeat!
We live in Orlando and weâre just looking to escape the craziness of Florida spring break. The house was clean, tidy and amazing. The views were spectacular. We drank coffee and watched dolphins, soaked in the hot tub and took relaxing walks on the beach. The grocery store right across the street was super convenient!
We stayed at this property the end of March and, while there were a few chilly days, the house offers us constant views of the ocean and the hot tub was hot and clean. We have stayed in many rentals in the outer banks and this home was exceptionally clean and, though it is clearly older, it has been updated nicely and painted recently. New composite decking on the top deck allowed our kids to run and play outside without worry of splinters. The home is located blocks from a well stocked grocery store and just a few miles from the lighthouse and shopping areas. Would definitely stay again.
