We traveled to the area to reconnect with family and friends; the location was great with easy access to the other towns where we need to make our stops.
We really enjoyed this area and the beautiful scenery. The dogs were so sweet and we enjoyed interacting with them as well. We had a concert this weekend and wanted to check in early so we wouldnât have to unload and set up after at midnight or later. The host was extremely accommodating in allowing us to do so and was very fast with responses. I would recommend this place 10/10 and I am saving for future stay as we enjoyed the area.
Quaint ,tastefully decorated cottage. Perfect for two. Small, yet
has everything needed for a comfortable , relaxing getaway. Beautiful
scenery and the host is very accommodating ! Really enjoyed our
stay here !
The place was very clean and the bed was very comfortable. Nice setting amongst the horses, although don't expect to get very close to them. They also have several large dogs that frequently run around the property. We enjoyed watching them and they were all friendly.
We were blessed to have such a wonderful time - the cottage is darling in a quiet peaceful atmosphere and we had the wonderful security of Duncan the gentle giant and we just adored him. We so loved it - its on the top of our list of new places to stay :) thank you for being gracious hosts. Rita, Deanna, Jackie and Melissa
We greatly enjoyed being around nature and watching the horses! The plce was easy to get to. The owners are very niceâtheir house is a short distance from the property, but it still seemed private. It's quaint and small, perfect size for a couple. Be aware that the stairs to the sleeping area is steep with a dip in the roof at the top one needs to avoid. Lovely!
First the positive:
1. Good location, easy to get to Gettysburg, Hershey, Appalachian Trail, and Harrisburg.
2. Host was very quick to return messages.
3. Contact less check in was easy..
4. Bed was comfortable.
Negative:
1. Not private. Listing pics are misleading as there is a house about 30 feet away from the cabin.
2. No shades or blinds on door and windows in kitchen and blinds in living room did not close all the way.
3. The house next door owns five dogs. 3 of which are very large and come over to visit, uninvited. We were sitting on the back patio having dinner and wound up with a big dog face in my plate, which pretty much ruined the food. One morning, a very large dog came running at me barking and growling as I left the cabin. The neighbor was right there to call the dog off, but I was pretty shaken.
4. The cabin had a mouse infestation. The cookware in the drawer beneath the oven was covered in mouse poop and urine. I wish vrbo would allow reviewers to post pictures because i took a lot. We informed the host who reminded us this is a "working horse ranch". I grew up on a "working dairy farm" and we NEVER had mice in the house so not accepting that as an excuse. She said she would bring over mouse stations but we never saw her or the stations.
5. There laundry facilities are actually in the basement of the house mentioned above. Entry is thru recessed cellar doors and a very steep set of stairs-that were covered with garden hoses (again, I have pictures). Basement had many spots of standing water, some over an inch deep. Laundry room was filled with piles of dirty clothes, bedsheets, towels, etc. Like, I get the main house is obviously a long term rental, but how many people live here?
In hindsight, the first morning when we saw the mouse poop, we should have asked for a refund and left because on the last morning, there was mouse poop on the kitchen counter. Thankfully we had made it a point to store all our food in the fridge or closed up in our cooler to avoid having mice get it.
I'm super disappointed in this place. The last reviewer said "horrible", but nothing else. Details people-when you leave a review, details are important!! We never would have rented this place if we had all this information in hand.

Our little guy was so excited to stay at the tiny house with the horses. He kept saying that he was going to sleep on hay like the horses do :) The cottage is cute and very clean. In the morning we walked just a couple yards to the lookout to say hello to the horses in the pasture. A truly lovely stay on a lovely piece of land.
Very charming and welcoming cottage! Very well equipped with thoughtful touches such as extra power cables for an IPhone and paper and colored pencils for the kids.
My 18 year old daughter & I spent a week in this adorable cottage on a gorgeous working horse farm. The caretakers were super friendly & the cottage was immaculate! We will definitely make a return visit!
This property is very safe and secure. It is convenient to many good places to visit. It is safe and well stocked. The neighbors are friendly and helpful.
This was our first time ever B&B 100% satisfied The owners went above and Beyond on to have everything you would ever need On a scale of 1-10 they were a 15 Thank you so much
Lynne was very responsive to messages. Check in was easy and contact free. The cottage was not only very clean, it was absolutely adorable! I enjoyed 2 nights there with my dog, while visiting Caledonia and Pine Grove Furnace state parks to hike the Appalachian Trail as day hikes. It was great to be able to grill a delicious dinner on the beautiful patio overlooking the pastures just before sunset. The kitchen has just about anything you'd need to prepare meals. The upstairs loft has the most comfortable bed!
The property is gorgeous and very relaxing to watch the horses.
The property is located very easy access to the highway (15). It is close to Gettysburg, beautiful states parks, the Appalachian Trail, Army Heritage Center and more.
I would happily stay here again, especially since it is so easy to access from the DC Metro area.
We just wanted a getaway near some nice hikes and this fit the bill very nicely. This cottage is very cozy. It would be even better for a group of four in warm weather, when you could all eat on the patio out back, but we did cook multiple meals and the kitchen had all the cooking supplies we needed. COVID prevented a barn tour but we did get to see the horses from a short distance, even from the observation tower - we don't do eventing, but I bet that would a fun place to watch it from if you were! Lynne was a super-responsive host and answered all of my messages very promptly. All in all, we had a great time and we recommend this property.
My husband and I usually fly for our vacations but due to COVID, we are driving and staying in homes instead of hotels. We were driving to the Catskills and only needed the house for the night. I wish we would have had a couple more days. It is a very clean and perfect size house. We had our 2 dogs with us and found a great dog park for them to run and play. I would definitely recommend this place. The owner was a very good communicator.
This property is amazing and we have been hosting for over an year and are super hosts with a 5 star rating. The cottage is wonderful and relaxing. The people enjoy watching the horses and wildlife in the fields. Barn tours can be arranged and all visits must be accompanied.
