The home is beautiful and as described. Our large group had a wonderful stay enjoying the theaters, hot tub, sauna, and views. Our kids loved performing in the shadow theater.A few minor items to note. The shuffleboard was too worn and lacking sand to be used. The WiFi speed, as mentioned in the home guide, does struggle at times. We had to make everyone disconnect their devices so we could get a movie to stream. The electronics are well labeled however some of our party were unable to figure them out without help from the family IT guy.Overall an amazing house to make family memories in!
The home had everything you could ask for including a great view, wonderful entertainment rooms and features, up to date appliances, and large bedrooms. Highly recommend any season of the year.
Our family had a great time staying here. The views are amazing. We spent many early mornings on the back deck watching the wildlife and the sun burn off the low-lying fog. The house was big enough for us. There were a few things that we discussed with the property owner/manager (I forget her title) who was very attentive to our suggestions. We were very grateful to stay in such a large home in a beautiful location.
This property has amazing views. Ski in/ski out. Big screens available on two floors for watching movies. Ski slopes were groomed every day. We had a good time.
We absolutely enjoyed this cabin in the beautiful mountains! Our ages ranged from 4-59 years old. Everyone had something to do at all times! Enough space for 12 people! The view is absolutely stunning! Deer outside several times a day! We definitely will be recommending this cabin to others and would even book again ourselves!
The stay was mostly great. We were unhappy with the size of the outside grill, for a place that hosts 10+ people, the grill was not large enough. The inside grill was large, but needed a lot of TLC. We also wished there was a bit more kitchen storage, but as we were there for 9 nights, this would not likely be an issue for shorter stays.
Otherwise we loved the accommodations, all the kids were entertained for the whole time, and the beds were very comfortable.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay! There were 8 adults and 7 children in our group and space galore! The house was as advertised and plenty to keep the kids entertained. The location was absolutely perfect for the skiers in our group. There is a small hill next to the house leading to the garage where the younger children were able to sled. Snow tubing was a short drive away and highly recommended by all! The hot tub was a huge perk and the robes provided were perfect for entering and exiting. The only recommendation I have would be to provide kitchen towels. We went through a lot of paper towels just to dry hands after clean up in the kitchen. We had the perfect family trip!
This place provided a beautiful setting for a large group of us to enjoy time together and explore. The highlight of the house is the breathtaking view from the upper floor balcony. Bedroom suites are nice and spacious. Kitchen and amenities are ample as advertised. Overall a good time.
Some smaller issues: poor internet (understandable for location) renders some of the extravagant technological frills unusable.
I regret having adults use the advertised bedding in the theater room (air mattresses). Maybe ok for kids.
The road leading up to the house is a very rough mile stretch (early summer.)
Aurora Point offers an incredible view. The beds are comfortable and It was nice to have three master bedrooms. Communication prior to the visit was more cumbersome than other rentals have been. The cleaning staff was wonderful and while it was clean , the property was a bit worn for the money spent. Unfortunately there was no zip lining and sport clay shooting available which we were hoping to do. But we could still hike (Dolly Sods is a hike up the mountain and just beyond the Timberline slope, which was better than taking the 45 minute drive) ride bikes and golf. We also took the chair lift to the top at Canaan for a lovely view. Would highly recommend a day trip into the quaint town of Thomas (better on the weekend as more shops are open) especially sethâs artist gallery, Creature. Davis has a really good place to get ice cream.

Sliger Family Reunion
I want to start off by stressing, we really enjoyed our stay, and would stay here again. But I also want to provide some constructive help for the owners.
The house wasn't the cleanest house I've stayed in there at Timberline. The vents for the HVAC were pretty dusty. I took a picture of the one by the dining room table.
The big fireplace did not work. The smaller one to the left worked fine, but the larger one did not function.
The WiFi was in and out all weekend. I'm guessing this had to to do with the number of devices connected with 20 people staying at the house - most of whom had a phone or ipad connected at one point in time or another.
A couple bedrooms were missing towels. Not a big deal, as there were enough to go around once we sorted them out.
The list of to-do's seemed a bit exhaustive. We happen to own a hot-tub, so we know how to do the chemicals in one. However, most people do not, and to ask a renter to read some instructions on how to do so and re-balance the PH themselves is a bit over the top. With everything else that is asked, what are you paying the cleaning service to do, other than wash/dry the sheets/towels and make the beds? The general feeling was, why are we paying a cleaning fee if we're having to do almost everything anyway.
I completely understand the need to clean up after ourselves, so again, this is not a deterrent from us renting this house again. Just some observations from overhearing conversations from folks as they cleaned. :)
Hope you're having a great week! Thank you for all your help!
The McCartneys and Sligers
Great house at an amazing location. A few things to note if you are thinking of renting. -If you are coming to ski or snowboard this is an ideal location just below the mid mountain lift. This is good because it is on a very forgiving blue slope that is great for beginner snowboarders, and at the intersection of an easy green slope for beginner skiers. Also, the house is on a lighted part of the resort for those who like to night ski.-the house has been updated with a PS5 and Xbox series X but I don't believe there are any games. You would need to bring your own or login to your own account. -There are a lot of instructions but they are clear and do a great job of explaining everything. I will say that if the instructions say that things are not provided then don't expect them to be there. For example, there are no linens blankets or pillows for the air beds. I thought there might be some extra blankets but there were not. Again, this was clear in the instructions, so not a big deal. -I was a little worried because the photos in the advertisement are a little dated but the house is in great condition and felt modern. The only thing that was a little dated was the hot tub but it still worked fine. - the property owner is very responsive, gracious, and a great host.
Perfect house with many amenities for large family gathering with spectacular views
We stayed the last week of August. Our group was 13 and consisted of a grandmother, her kids & their spouses & kids, 7 adults, 6 kids (3 sets of siblings aged 5-13). The house was absolutely perfect for our group. All the adults got a master bedroom/bathroom which were plenty spacious with comfortable beds and perfect views. The kids took the other 3 bedrooms (shared with their sibling). The kitchen was perfect for cooking for such a large group. The refrigerator/freezer in the kitchen is huge. It held all of our food for 13 people for a week with no problem. We used the regular sized fridge/freezer in the back hallway just for drinks. The tappen-yaki griddle in the kitchen was clutch when cooking for so many people at one time and we used it every day. The kitchen is stocked with plenty of plates, silverware, cups, bowls and mugs for a large group. It is also well-equipped with all the small appliances, cookware, utensils and gadgets you would need for cooking and baking. A few things that we did bring with us from home and used were: a large, sharp knife, a meat thermometer, scissors and an air fryer. We used and enjoyed the sauna quite a lot and the hot tub every day. The hot tub is on the deck which is on the 3rd floor and has amazing views of the mountains and valley and lakes below. There is also a dining table on the deck which seats 8 and a grill which we used several times. The living room (on the 3rd floor) is plenty spacious with enough seating for the whole group to congregate and we enjoyed the large screen for movies. The shadow room was something that I originally underestimated, as the kids absolutely loved it and preformed shows for us daily. The game room/movie theater area of the house was another crowd pleaser. The kids, and some of the adults, spent most of their time down there (1st floor/lowest level). They loved playing video games on the huge screen and enjoyed playing pool and shuffleboard too. There is a washer/dryer on the 2nd floor and a washer and 2 dryers on the 1st floor which were very useful. The golf cart was another hit with the kids. We did all of our grocery shopping at home and brought everything with us. The grocery store is about 20 mins away and kinda small but sufficient if needed. The house is wonderfully secluded and peaceful & quiet but not too far from wanted activities. Everything from whitewater rafting, tubing, horseback riding, waterfalls and caverns were within an hour away
The area was very peaceful and private. The golf cart was a great way to travel around the area and enjoy the wildlife.
Spacious and plenty to do inside. Enjoyed the Movie room and large screen in living room, sauna and hot tub! Internet worked well for such a secluded area.
Beds were comfortable, and kitchen adequate. A few more bowls with lids, and toaster oven would have been nice. Good that we were informed of what was there tho, so we could plan accordingly.
The heated floors in basement master bath were great!
The booking process was complicated, and owner said they were in process of changes.
We did have a few issues, but they were taken care of in a timely fashion. Recommendations to owner for future improvements were given and input appreciated.
The house is unique with many interesting features, like the sky view and snow scene in foyer.
Thank you for sharing your house!
Wonderful location! Cooking and cooking utensils were great. Bedrooms and beds were great. Need small bars of soap in bathrooms. You were very helpful when we had a problem or needed things such as inflatable mattresses.
The location, views off the balcony, large-screen media, privacy, grill, refrigerator, pool table, and theatre seating were great.
I used the maps app and it took me to a home up the hill from Davis WV. Tell people to use google maps. Those who did had no problem.
The hallways, especially by washers and dryers, were dark. More lighting is needed.
Didn't like the platform under queen-size bed. In the middle of the night, we forgot they were there. I fell once and my wife fell twice in the middle of the night. The second time she seriously injured her back. Would help to have lights under the stepdown. The circular warnings were not enough.
The owners are far from typical, and believe that vacation home designing is an art extending way beyond the material selection and finishes found in a typical home. Aurora Point has marble bathrooms, lighted etched-glass artworks, gas fireplaces and jacuzzis -- and that is just in the master suites, but it also is an entertainment complex, purposely designed for family and group reunions of all ages and in all seasons! Before drafting the house, we blueprinted the fun for every activity, and part of our think-tank process was considering where adults and children of each age group would congregate while together and on their own.
We specialize in building vacation properties with jaw-dropping views in quintessential locations. The structure sits up high on a point, where ski slopes and horse and bike trails form around it on both sides. You actually have to drive over a ski slope bridge to get to its location in. It is also located within 5 minutes of the Canaan Valley Ski Resort There are wide open ski slopes below it also, so from this unique perch, guests enjoy a clear view all the way down the mountain to the lake and valley below. This lot gave us goosebumps when we first saw it, and we believe that it is the nicest location in Canaan Valley.
You may never have to move your car while here, because guests can ski-in, ski-out, mountain bike-in, mountain bike-out, ride horses by the house, and we provide a limo golf cart to get to the lodge restaurant, tennis courts and convenience store in the spring, summer and fall.
ski-in/ski-out to Timberline Resort (please note winter of 2020 Timberline Resort is closed but Canaan Valley is open) 2021 the resort will open with a new operator!
