Julius is a great host and very friendly. Iâve stayed at his property 3 times and the family and I enjoy it so much each time. You canât ask for a more beautiful property to stay on. Fishing, kayaking, campfires, grilling etc were all great. We even got to see a few shooting stars during our stay. Thanks again Julius!
Have been running a canoe trip weekend for over 40 years and we are getting too old for the whole tent thing. House is perfectly located for water activities and how can you beat fishing right from the backyard?
Lovely property with the Delaware River in the backyard. We went rafting only 5 minutes away and also the original Woodstock site is only 30 minutes away.
2nd time at the location love it here you have to go anywhere else just soak up that river and relax. Thank you pops for another great experience see you soon
The view was spectacular! Very peaceful. We even caught fish! The house had a lot of room. The kitchen was large so it fit all 7 of us. The checkin/check out process was easy. The property owner was super nice and helpful. We would definitely rent this again and recommend it to others.
We had a wonderful time, seeing the Delaware River in the backyard and the beautiful colors on the trees.
Great October weather. Thank you, to our SUPER DUPERRR host Mr. Julius. You outdid yourself!
We were given plenty of activities to do in the area. There was nothing to complain about, everything was perfect.
The location is amazing with plenty to do in the surrounding area. The house is quirky and is charming in it's own way. I was disappointed with the cleanliness of the house when we arrived. Note, I am not a clean freak but the kitchen area was not clean at all. Lights all had spider webs and fan paddles were dirty. My other disappointment was the accessibility of the home. I reached out to the owner before committing to the rental. My concern was for my 87 year old mom who uses a walker. I was assured that the house was updated to be ADA compliant. This was not so. There was a large step up into the home then a step down into the living room area. You also had to step up into the kitchen. Both bathrooms had a tub/shower combo. Not ADA compliant at all. I can not see how anyone in a wheelchair could easily move about the home. Access to the river is questionable. On our last day there the owner came over to the house to grab a water sample and asked if we had been down to the river. When we told him we would not use the stairs because of the condition of the stairs he replied that he had a driveway next door we could use. Wish we knew that when we arrived. I attached photos of the river access. Overall, the location is quiet and peaceful and beautiful. The interior needs much attention especially concerning the electric. If you bring young children, there are other safety issues that concern me.The owner is quite nice but communication is complicated.
I think this property would be very nice in the summer but for a rainy cold October weekend, the house was cold and everyone was cold at night⊠ie no extra blankets, no heatâŠ
We had a wonderful experience staying at this home. While it is located in easy walking distance to the quaint village of Barryville NY it feels totally private sitting on the large back deck taking in the view of the pristine Delaware River. The living room has huge windows and is very comfortable. Julius lives just across the road and is very helpful. He knows the area extremely well and also helped us organize a rafting trip. We are planning on returning next summer because we had such a fantastic experience!
Beds are horrible, house is old but there has been zero upgrades since it was built. 1 bed room was so creepy that we just kept the door closed. Even my dogs were uncomfortable . They were glued to my wife. We even left a night early.
River on the other hand was fantastic.
Great location, both the house itself and the area attractions. We really appreciated the owners personal greeting upon check-in and informing us about the area. We pre-planned a kayaking trip and hiking, but didnât realize how close we were to Bethel (Woodstock) and didnât know about the local Saturday farmers market. Those two attractions definitely added to our getaway!
Generally very clean, just missed a couple areas.
The main reason for 4 of 5 stars is basically the comfort of the beds in the older part of the house compared to my other house rentals over the years (in addition to mattress quality/age, no box spring or proper platform base led to unusual morning back aches). Other points of note: bocce and horseshoe areas were overgrown/not useable and the wifi didnât work in the older part of the house.
Overall we enjoyed our time in Barryville!
