The hot tub what very clean and felt amazing after hiking everyday and the cabin is very private can't see any other cabins around except for the ones way across on the other mountains

It was a very nice location and very quiet and private. The driveway in and out is a little scary. The highlight of the property is the outdoor gazebo area with a swinging bed and hot tub. But if I’m being honest, it’s just a little expensive for what it is.

Got recommended this cabin by family and it did not disappoint. The neighborhood and cabin were beautiful, and the view from the porch was amazing. Also a great stay for my dog, she enjoyed all the hikes and hanging out on the patio. Will be planning to return in the future!

Our stay was amazing! Beautiful views from this cozy home nestled right in the side of the mountain. We spent the days hiking and the evening recovering in the hot tub. The little restaurant at the entrance was very good and convenient and the staff were great! Would love to come back with our pups!

The deck and outdoor areas of this property are gorgeous. You are truly one with nature and we enjoyed setting on the porch swing and soaking up the view.The inside of the property was functional but needed some deep cleaning and maintenance. The ice maker does not work but ice trays are provided. The upstairs shower did not drain well and the shower head was only partially working. Outside, there was a new gas grill but when we opened the top to use it, there was a mice nest with live mice living in the grill. We reported these issues to the owner so hopefully they are quickly resolved.We also had the bad luck of having a power outage in the middle of the first night. We messaged VBRO and the owner in the middle of the night with no response- which is partially understandable but it was scary to be on a mountain with no power and no updates on what is wrong. The owner did respond the next morning with screenshots from the power company. Perhaps the power company could be added to the binder of information so that others could know who to contact for outages.Finally, we did not see any mentions of the driveway in other reviews or the description but it is steep and gravel with some areas of ridges that normal cars may struggle with. If you have a truck or SUV, you would be fine. I know it’s typical for the mountains but usually it’s posted so you will know.Overall, this property has incredible potential and some may stay just for the outdoor amenities.

This cabin is located at the very top of the Leatherwood Mountain Community and offers spectacular views. The hosts have tastefully decorated with bear-themed, rustic features; and completely renovated the outdoor wraparound porch to include a large covered porch with hanging swing bed, high end composite furniture and hot tub. We rented this mountain home for 7 days/8 nights to escape the oppressive summer heat of our Summerville, SC home. It was heavenly! The clouds and overcast days created a rainforest-like environment and an incredible landscape with beautiful skies. The home was comfortable, had everything we needed for our stay and was minutes from private hiking trails. We did have to drive 45 minutes to an hour to reach Boone, Blowing Rock and state parks that were open post Hurricane Helene, but it didn’t even matter! It was beautiful driving around this part of North Carolina. Situated in the Leatherwood Mountain Resort, this cabin is very private and peaceful, while offering access to the pool and stables down in the valley. It was so amazing watching the horses, deer and other wildlife. I didn’t want to leave and hope never to lose this sense of peace I gained while there. If I do, I will be back!

This property is not only well, well taken care of, it is on a piece of this earth where you will literally and physiologically enjoy the “sound of silence”. The swing on the back porch is heavenly, especially with a glass of wine at sunset, then after sunset when you watch the fireflies start dancing. The larger swing by the hot tub - nap heaven!! The hot tub - big and comfortable, clean and worked every day, every time. We are from Texas then Florida - so ceiling throughout the cabin were so appreciated. The communication with the property manager as well as owner was, from timeliness to thoroughly addressing questions, “Ritz Carleton” type excellence. If you want to get away, have quality time in a high quality place, enjoy any and all meals with that/those special someone for a while, be in one of the few places on earth where you hear nothing - I mean sheer silence - , and your biggest decision is whether to go to other wonderful parts of NC during the day, or, go between hot tub and huge bed-size swing with great pillows and outstanding view, you must spoil yourself and come to this cabin. Thank you, thank you, Alyson!! What a treat!!

Magnificent views with no one but nature!

What a “Million” dollar view this place has! My wife and I usually do a lot of hiking any cabin we go to but, this place felt magical. One with nature, no big city sound only sounds of nature and the wind
 You didn’t want to get out of the swinging bed and when you did it was a dip in the hot tub and every single spot you sat in you had a different viewpoint! Wow, just WOW! Honestly, just bring all your food to cook or reheat and relax with nothing to bother you and your loved ones. So peaceful and relaxing and HIGHLY recommend this cabin to anyone that needs to rejuvenate their minds from real life.

A Dream

This place was pretty awesome! The wrap around porch and pavilion were our favorite! My wife and I went up for a couple nights and this place did not disappoint!I didn't know the grill was charcoal, luckily we were able to use the stove. Propane would've been ideal but that's ok.Getting in was pretty straight forward and Alyson gave great directions through her email attachment. She was also very communicative via email messages.The drive up though! Wow, it is some steep climbing of paved hills. I would recommend having some 4x4 or at least 2W front wheel drive. The driveways is steep. It's certainly doable but I'd be nervous if I had a 2 wheel drive vehicle. I put my truck in 4Low and it worked great.All in all, it was a great stay! Thank you!

My wife and I were looking for a nice place to just disconnect from everyday life. This could not have been more perfect. Alyson (owner) really takes great care in providing many of the little things while offering the most spectacular views. A waiting bottle of wine as we entered the cabin was a very classy touch. Alyson happened to be travelling overseas however still responded to any questions we had prior to the trip. While my wife and I have travelled quite a bit this was one of the more perfect trips in a while. The pictures simply cannot capture the beauty. We left the cabin once to eat breakfast at the charming restaurant as you enter the gated community. We will certainly return many times to enjoy the solitude. The swinging daybed was perfect. Alyson, thank you again for a simply perfect getaway!! We look forward to returning.

The most beautiful view!!!

What a GEM this place is! Tucked away in a gated community only 1hr & 20 minutes from Winston Salem, is the most charming cabin with the most breath-taking view! The covered deck with a bed swing and hot tub is PERFECT for a rainy weekend, where we got to enjoy the incredible outdoor surroundings despite the rain! So peaceful, so private, so perfect!! We cooked every meal and never left this incredible oasis except to hike a trail just a short walk up the hill. Cannot recommend more! We will definitely be back! Thank you so much for sharing your lovely home!!!

Great property with amazing outdoor space

This property was perfect for us for a getaway weekend. The outdoor space is absolutely stunning. We would spend the entire time there if we can help it. We will be back again for sure. Make sure to gas up before you get there as there are no close by gas stations, but that's a small price to pay for the location, view and serenity of the property.
