Great place , great owner

Great place close to the ocean (across the street). The appartment is confortable and enough equiped to cook some good Costa Rican meals. You can spend time in the garden to watch iguanas, parrots, tucans, monkeys and coatis. The owner (Mireille) is a such wonderful person who does everything she can to make your stay more than pleasant. It's not too far from the city of Jaco where you can go to do your grocery or enjoy time in town. I was there for 6 weeks and I hope I will go back.

We got more than renters, sometimes life brings you wonderful surprises like these precious persons, happy, optimist and helpful, it was really a big pleasure and lots of fun to enjoy these tropical and exotic moments with all the wild animals all around (not so wild, humans sometimes are worse ... !!) W really recommend these renters and hope we meet again soon around the swimming pool at Pacific Jungle - Costa Rica !!

best location and rental!

we loved our first studio so much, we upgraded to this bigger rental because family and friends were visiting us during our 3 month stay! Couldn't ask for a better place. Perfect location for surf and nature hikes. Beach, stores and restaurants just footsteps away. the jungle and mountains are our backyard. Wildlife everyday. Best landlord and property manager we have had. Anything needed, they were there to help! I encourage this place for future vacations! Pura vida!

Pacific Jungle

The pool was nice and clean. The owner was friendly. The beach was good walking when not high tide. Furnishing is minimum with a small loveseat, small tv and 2 boards and small chairs for a computer desk. The first afternoon the large ceiling fan fell on the bed but luckily no one was hurt. The other fan over the twin beds squeaked. After a week I was shown how to change to English on the tv. Coming from a cool climate we found it quite hot in March (30) and were asked to turn off the AC when we left for walks or in the car. We killed a large cockroach and a scorpion in the bathroom. The highway 34 is very busy. We had to leave two weeks early (50%) because of the corona virus travel warning and asked for a partial refund but were told no. After complaing to homeayay 25% was refunded after subtracting the homwaway refund and the Paypal charges.

Un super de beau voyage avec une hôtesse extraordinaire que demander de mieux !

La propriété avec piscine est entourée de fleurs et d’arbres , elle est situé presque dans la jungle ce qui est formidable pour rencontrer iguanes, singes capucins, toucans, papillons et même des coaties. Elle est quand même à une rue de l’autre côté des restaurants, épicerie, station de bus et que dire de la plage des kilomètres et des kilomètres avec son sable noir et ses vagues ce qui est merveilleux pour le surf et la baignade. Un voyage pour ceux et celles qui aiment la nature...

Le sommet est encore loin

Notre loueuse sympathique au demeurant manque de professionnalisme, sa présence permanente devient vite pesante, elle ne connait pas les différentes facilités qui peuvent être utiles à ses locataires. Le basique de la location ne correspond pas aux critères actuels, pas de four, pas de lave-linge, vaisselle minima. Une majoration de journalière rend l'utilisation du climatiseur prohibitive. Cette location située à 6 km de la ville de Jaco impose un moyen de transport (scooter ou voiture), un taxi peut dépanner. De plus les transports en commun manquent de fiabilité, on peut attendre le bus pendant deux heures. En conséquence je ne recommande pas cette location.

Difficile de s'extirper de l'emprise de ce monsieur dès qu'il vous a aperçu ; arapède de mon pays. Mon professionnalisme ne peut être remis en cause et cette mention est bien galvaudée. Le four était en option, à disposition sur demande. Quant au lave-linge, je n'ai jamais mentionné qu'il y en avait un. L'air conditionné facultatif et pas nécessaire est une option sur laquelle je ne gagne rien. Il m'est arrivé d'attendre le bus pendant 1H. Heureusement, je n'allais pas au travail ... J'espère que Jean-Louis n'est pas arrivé en retard au supermarché !!! Quand on part au Costa Rica, vivez comme au Costa Rica, sinon restez en France.

endroit plus qu enchanteur, appartement situé à 30 seconde des plus belles vagues du costa rica ... playa hermosa... Mireille la propriétaire es vraiment charmante ,toujours disponible et donne de bon conseil sur les environs.tout ce dont vous avez besoin pour passez un bon séjour es la pour vous il ne manque rien.j y retourne à coup sure .....

Location location location

I really struggled about posting a review of this place as I liked the owner. My husband and I rented this unit for 1 month for two reasons ... the AC, and the pool. We thought that getting cabs or transportation to Jaco would have been easier. The reason for this post is not to discourage you from renting this unit but be aware what you are getting into. Having a private pool to yourself to swim and relax is magical. The unit itself was well equipped and the AC was as advertised... a single unit in the kitchen. We were encouraged to run it minimally. The wifi signal is by far the best we have encountered in Costa Rica. The kitchen had basic pots and pans, coffee maker, toaster and adequate dishes. We had a microwave, a new gas range/ oven and a great big fridge. From past experiences we always bring our own chef knife, potatoe peeler and spices from home. We also bring beach towels (3sets). I would suggest that you plan a trip to the SAN Josée Walmart to get essentials on your way from the airport. The unit itself was sufficient for our needs...this certainly not a five star resort, but it would be difficult to have four adults living there. The distance from Jaco was an issue for us. Trying to give cab drivers directions on how to get here was difficult. We often had to wait at the side of the busy highway for the cab to arrive. The pool is beautiful and inviting but requires more care. The pool guy comes once every seven to 10 days. At times plant debris, dead scorpions dead frogs,or centipede can be found at the bottom of the pool. The other issue people have to be aware of is that this is one of the premier surf beach , not a walking beach when high tide.... dangerous due to strong rip tides Crossing the road can be tricky as it is a major highway with many transports and the entrance to the property is on a curb... so walk down a bit towards Jaco so it is a bit safer to cross over. What I have learned from this experience is to ask more questions about location, pool maintenance habits, such as do they test the water regularly, what is the chlorination schedule, distance to town, beach access , type of beach among many other questions. We made the best of our vacation despite these challenges and want to make sure future renters know what we would have liked to have known. Denise and Steve

Sorry that the rental did not meet your aspirations. It was to be expected that having previously rented in Jaco, it was not possible to find the same transport conditions as in the suburbs of Jaco. Generally, travelers who have rented a vehicle do not experience these kinds of concerns. I appreciate your complimentary comment concerning the swimming pool located in the middle of an exotic garden but this sometimes implies the presence of unwanted insects and I take note of your remark on a more rigorous maintenance.

Location is wonderful, the owner is nice. Needs improvement

We loved the location and the owner is lovely. We enjoyed lots of wild life in the yard and the location is amazing. However, we didn’t get any check in or check out instructions so we had to keep in contact asking for things/what todo, the A.C. for the the place is in the kitchen and doesn’t reach to the bedroom leaving the room hot and never cooking down. We had to purchase toilet and paper towels. There is a washer on property, however, you need to ask permission and we were told no because it was a Sunday so we had to wait. We only got 2 towels for a 10 day stay and had to ask for towels for the pool and buy our own for the beach. You have to walk your trash across the street and place it in a random trash pick up spot. Many frustrating things and we will only return if there are improvements.

Unusual, so many complains in regard of the numerous and positive commentaries left for years by many travelers. Our place is not an hotel, so it's not possible to expect the same treatment in this special place in the middle of the jungle where you could watch all the wildlife so easily, quite same like in Manuel Antonio Park much more expensive ! Forget about paper towel, fresh towels everyday and about the trash, all travelers visiting us acomodated themselves very well during years throwing away their daily plastic bag in containers ubicated very close on the way going down to the beach. About the washer, it was not a matter of sunday, it was not just possible to wash at night because of the girl sleeping in the bedroom behind the washing machine wall. First time also we had a request for a "discount", we did it nicely and lowed the rent down to $100 less. So sad and too strict were your judgement only 3 stars. If you go to Costa Rica, live like in Costa Rica !!

Amazing Place

Great access to restaurants beaches and the jungle is right in the back yard! We were helped by a lady named Roxana and she is absolutely lovely, very helpful and gave us great advice in how to move around. Mireya wasn't there but she was very responsive to our emails, and she sent Roxana to help us out, eating at restaurants can get very expensive so we were glad we had where to cook at mireya's place. I Recommend you to get a rental car from national in Playa Herradura, we first tried to get one from avis at the airport and they were trying to charge us an extra $47 a day for insurance on top of the price to rental the car and the $500 deposit, we only paid $240 from national (alamo) plus the $500 deposit that you get back within a week of returning the car.

Bien qu'absente à Pacific Jungle quand Anna et James ont loué pendant une semaine l'appartement, je ne peux que recommander ce couple responsable et agréable à d'autres propriétaires ... Par l'intermédiaire d'internet, nous avons eu plusieurs échanges positifs et sans souci. Roxana a beaucoup aidé pour trouver une location de voitures et donné bien d'autres informations utiles pour me seconder. Il me sera toujours agréable d'accueillir Anna et James Hiddle pour un prochain séjour !!!

A delightful stay

Mirielle was a wonderful hostess & always available to help out when needed. Very warm & welcoming !! Apartment was directly across the street from a beautiful beach as well as some good restaurants on beach. Scarlet macaws were flying directly overhead several times a day as well as other interesting birdlife The pool was quite nice & certainly welcome in the afternoon after a hot day especially since it was in the shade. Apartment comfortable but somewhat warm . The air conditioner was in the kitchen so it hardly reached the bedroom nor front porch. so we never used it Overall a great stay. Thank you Mierielle !! Wonderful Retreat!!

I had concerns about staying outside of town by myself. I was only seven kilometers from town but might as well have been a million miles away. The backyard is a beautiful jungle so you go to sleep and wake up with the jungle sounds of birds and crickets. This vacation taught me a very important lesson on how to do absolutely nothing and enjoy it!! I got up early, went to be early, read, napped, walked the beach (just across the road), did yin yoga in my room. I wouldn't let myself turn on the TV until dark and would then watch a movie or two. It was exactly what I needed. Mireya (the owner) is lovely and speaks fluent French, Spanish and English. She and Dennis (the manager) would make sure and let me know when they were going to town so I could go in for shopping or dinner. It's only a $10 taxi ride back, so it was perfect as I could come back when I wanted. I loved my time at Pacific Jungle Apartments and will go back to see the new pool that Mireya's is putting in this fall. There is also a couple of very good restaurants across the road, make sure you try them. Villa Hermosa and Bowie's Point are both excellent!!

Just what I was hoping for.....and more!

I was seeking a place to spent several weeks of quiet, meditative time. A place to read, write, think and walk the beach. I could not have found a better place! Everything I needed was within reach. And the owner is lovely! I hope to be back again before too long!

Absolutely Delightful :)

An American review LOL :) My wife and I spent a week here surfing and hiking. This has been one of our best trips. We have been to many surf destinations and this is a great spot. Playa Hermosa is right across the street. Jaco beach is a short ride down the road and Boca Barranca (second longest left in the world) is less than an hour away. Hiking is spectacular. Lush and full of wildlife. We even had breakfast with a monkey at the apartment. The rental is wonderfully situated across the street from a couple of great restaurants. Bowie's Point is our fav. (Go say hi to Roger and his wife) super nice owners. We loved the rental. Very clean with all the amenities. The a/c was a blessing. Plenty of room to spread out. Dennis was very helpful with all of our needs. Great guy! We will be back for the surf and the "Pura Vida." We can't thank you enough Mireya. We loved our stay!

L'appartement est idéalement situé entre la montagne en arrière, d'où la visite des animaux (pas si sauvages) singes, coatis, paresseux, iguanes, toukans, colibris et perroquets multicolores et juste en face à moins de 200 mètres, l'océan Pacifique et sa jolie plage (comme l'indique son nom) Playa Hermosa.
