We just returned from an unforgettable week at this cozy Cape cottageâit was the perfect getaway for our family, ranging in age from 7 to 69, including several teenagers. The home is classic Cape Cod: simple, comfortable, and full of charm. It had everything we needed, especially the well-stocked kitchen, which made mealtime easy for us.The location is absolutely amazingâfrom the private deck overlooking the bay, youâre just 30 steps from your own private beach on the bay side. Everyone found something to love: the kids and adults played in the sand, swam for hours, and soaked in the views. One of our favorite evenings was gathering for a beach bonfire at sunsetâsuch a special memory for all of us.We also appreciated how close it was to both Wellfleet and Provincetown, especially since the rest of our family was staying in those towns. It made not only our get-togethers easy but also our outings for ice cream, shopping, and local dining fun and convenient. This cottage gave our whole family the chance to slow down and reconnect in a beautiful setting. We hated to leave and canât wait to come back!
Grateful to Linda & family, for the sharing your lovely home with all its comforts. Ryder Beach was the perfect getaway, Mother Nature provided outstanding weather & awesome sunsets. You did all the rest. Cheers from CharlesR
My husband and I stayed here with grown kids. It was a glorious setting overlooking the bay. Plenty of room for everyone in this cozy old cape home. The outdoor shower was a wonderful thing. The kitchen was well provided with everything we needed.
This property is quintessential Cape Cod. Itâs located on top of a dune facing west, which allows for sunset viewing. The beach is calm as itâs on the bay side. The beach is a nice sandy beach, private and nearly empty. The house is accurately represented in the photos. If you want lots of sheetrock and granite countertops, look elsewhere. This is a special place. Itâs perfect.
We have rented various beach houses for the past 12 years with our grown children and grandchildren. After canceling our beach vacation last summer due to covid we were so happy to get together at this beach cottage. It was very clean and had all the amenities we could have asked for. The deck overlooking the private beach was by far the best thing about this location. We hope to be back in the future!
Lindaâs cottage was perfect for our trip. We wanted for nothing except more sun! Iâve been visiting the Cape most years since I was a kid, and this place reminds me of those family trips. The space is exactly as picturedâŠitâs not fancy, but the listing doesnât claim it to be. Instead, itâs loaded with the important thingsâŠlove and memories.
This house was a perfect vacation home for my family and I. This property really fit my family well with the several bedrooms and direct access to the beach. There is a deck that sits on the edge of the dune that provides beautiful views of the Cape Cod Bay. One of the things I enjoyed most about this property is the access to the beach. The property manager provided great customer service. Overall, this house is absolutely wonderful! It is a 10/10 and I would recommend!
The location was fabulous, right on the beach. Very private for us and our 2 dogs. They were able to play on the property and beach with no issues. The parking was great also. The bed was to soft, but I guess it's good for some. Unfortunately it was extremely warm and humid the week we were there, and there wasn't any air conditioning. Usually at the Cape the ocean breeze is good enough, but this week it wasn't. So because of that, it was quite uncomfortable. We would love to go back next year, but I'll make it late August, and hopefully not get the heat. Otherwise, great place and friendly owner!
Amazing location with beautiful views (and a great host)
Right on a beautiful stretch of water. It is amazing house to enjoy ocean views. Loved our morning coffee, and we really enjoyed the quiet, beautiful beach. And close to Wellfleet and Provincetown made it great for day trips: shopping, beaches, mini golf, whale watches.
The cottage is small, but it has a great setup for a family with plenty of bedsâŠand you really want to be outside. We cooked and grilled several nights. It was an amazing week!
No A/C, and the house was stuffy at nightâŠand only one bathroom was a bit of a challenge. But I would absolutely stay there againâŠparticularly when it gets a bit cooler. Our host was great and the listing is accurate.
The moments my family made during our vacation stay are ones we'll hold onto forever. To be able to walk out your back door onto a deck overlooking the bay was something I'll never forget. Loved that taking our 2-year old to the beach was as easy as walking down some stairs (which aren't nearly as bad as the pictures might make you think). House is described accurately - no AC, no frills, just an adorable little cape with a bunch of adorable little rooms where your family can hang their hats. Lots of great food, beaches, views, etc... in the area. If you are looking for an old school cape vacation with lots of possibilities, this is the perfect house. We will be back.
We loved staying at Lindaâs house, mostly for the absolutely beautiful location. The beach is gorgeous and you couldnât be closer. So nice to wake up and sit on the deck with our morning coffee, or walk down the steps with our kids and be splashing in the waves in a matter of seconds.
The reason Iâm giving this a lower rating is because of the overall cleanliness and upkeep of the place which is in need of some TLC. When we arrived it hadnât been cleaned and even after we were able to communicate with Linda and get the cleaners there they basically did a very cursory job (no mopping, food left on the table, garbage on the floor of the patio). I spent the whole first day of our vacation rolling up rugs to sweep out so much sand, mopping, wiping down surfaces, and disinfecting (youâre welcome) which looked like it hadnât been done in ages. Because youâre so close to the beach everything gets damp and things like rugs were smelly and wet and desperately needed replacing. I donât mind the shabby chic vibe of the capeâ Iâve been traveling to the cape since a kid and very familiar with it. But this house was so chock full of stuff there wasnât anywhere for our own stuff. We ended up using one of the extra rooms to store some chairs just so we could move around the kitchen and living room. Itâs too bad because with maybe just a weekend of decluttering and deep cleaning this cute cottage would be so lovely!
You will fall in love with the views from the deck and the beach you will have basically to yourself. But at the price point the house is lacking many things. When we arrived the lock box didn't work but all the doors were unlocked, strange to arrive at an unlocked house. We came with all of our groceries ready to grill and the propane was completely out. We were told to go to the gas station (a 15 min ride one way) which was closed. It should be the host responsibility to be sure there is propane when you area advertising a gas grill. We were paid back after the trip after we asked for a refund on the propane. The house doesn't have beach chairs, beach towels or hair dryers, when we asked for them we were told renters had ruined those things. Again, it's a rental, yes renters sometimes ruin things but at $600+ a night I would hope the hosts could every few months put a bit of money into their homes so renters have the basics, after all it is a beach house. When we went to eat dinner the first night all the plates were black with food stuck on them, so gross. All the plates had to be washed before being used. There are rusty items visible in the kitchen, again super gross. The bath tub is filthy, I understand they have hard water there but I have lived in homes with hard water for years and they can be cleaned, or perhaps it needs to be replaced? The house needs love and a good cleaning. I contacted the host with all my concerns and was sent $40, hardly enough to make the situation better. As stated, the views are incredible but the house needs love and is overpriced for what is being offered.
Perfect beach location on the dunes above the water
Loved the outdoor shower. Loved the deck above the water. Loved the privacy and the gorgeous beach. We used to rent a cottage on the water in Eastham until it was razed and replaced with a multimillion $ house so I was so happy to find an old fashioned cottage on the water like this. Thank you for sharing your little slice of heaven!
My family & I had so much fun. We thoroughly enjoyed our time at Ryder Beach & exploring the surrounding areasâŠâa little slice of heavenâ it is & we hope to return next summer! Thank you so much Linda!
This classic 1958 beach house with 1960's improvements was perfect for grandparents, parents and grandchildren. The unspoiled dunes and beachfront reminded me of neighboring Wellfleet where I summerd in the 1960's with great restaurants .today.
The cottage is a great place to rewind and relax with family and friends. To be able to take a few steps, you can take nice long walk or sit on the deck and enjoy the view.
My family and I truly enjoyed this property. Its location cannot be matched. Private beach for morning swims and walks with my Golden Retriever. In the evenings we enjoyed spectacular sunsets from the private deck that sits atop of the dune. If you are looking for that old cape cod charm in a home then this is the place for you. the owner was great and responsive to all my questions.
Our family has been staying on Ryder Beach every summer since 1966. We purchased this cottage in 1977 so we could spend more time on the beach! Our parents retired and spent many summers here with lots of great memories. We started renting the cottage out for 2-3 weeks a year to assist with the tax payments and repairs now that our parents don't live here full time.
Quiet, peaceful, private beach is steps away. This location is perfect if you love the beach and want to be away from the tourist areas but is 15-20 minutes to Provincetown, Eastham and Orleans for tourist attractions and restaurants when you want them. Perfect for a family get together with plenty of beds to sleep 6-8 people. Young children can nap while the parents sit on the deck or beach. Great sunset views over Cape Cod Bay while dining or having cocktails on the deck. Old/Rustic cottage so no worries about sand and wet bathing suits in the house. House is not fancy but the beach and location are worth the price!
No need to lug beach gear daily. Leave chairs, umbrellas and supplies at the bottom of the beach stairs (Bring your own supplies). Easy access to the house for bathroom, food etc. 30-40 steps from the door to the edge of the water. Hammock for afternoon naps or reading. Fishing table to clean the catch of the day.
