We bought our house as a holiday home a few years ago and then decided to quit the rat race in London and take early retirement and move here permanently. Le Bourg came on the market and I decided I would like to buy it as my pension project and let it to like-minded guests. I was a nurse for over 30 years so I suppose I am continuing with the tradition of caring for people -albeit in a different way. The house is a work in progress and it is a real labour of love. On a sunny day there is no better place to be.
Having visited the area for several years to our holiday home, we moved here full time in 2016. This is an area we have come to know and love. I drove past Le Bourg every day and admired it and the garden at the front without realising that it was for sale. I decided to would make an incedible holiday home as it is just the place I would like to stay in in Normandie. The longere we used to rent before we bought our house was boring and less than adequately equipped - think top loading washing machine and basic furnishings and utensils. We also had to bring our own bedlinen including duvets! I decided I could do better for my guests!
It is a spacious lovely old detached house, full of character. It is extremely well-equipped, decorated in rural French style e.g old beds with modern mattresses. I fell in love with the kitchen with its old woodburning cooker and the beautiful mature gardens. It would be my ideal holiday location and I have tried to make it so for my guests. It has two superb secure walled gardens laid out as "rooms" with a small wildlife pond containing newts and small fish. If you wish to bring your dog there are lovely country and beach walks nearby. It is an ideal base for a totally relaxing break in Basse Normandy. My little piece of Normandy heaven.
