We had a fantastic stay at this apartment. The owners (and Nell) were amazing, easy to connect with and very accommodating to us, especially on our last day. The apartment itself was perfect size for us (2 adults & 1 12 yr old). Beds were very comfortable. Stocked with all the essentials we needed for the beach as well. Location is perfect to see tons of Konaâs beaches, shopping and restaurants and only 2 hr drive to the volcano national park. If we ever are able to come back weâd see if they had availability first.
Very clean and well stocked with dishes and towels. Owner responsive to questions.
Entry is on rocky and uneven ground which might be hard for some people and noise from upstairs can be heard.
Nice location and neighborhood. Comfortable and convenient. Dishwasher would be nice but not a deal breaker. Loved the yard access and close proximity to parking.
The house was clean and well kept. Within 5-10 minutes of everything in Kona. Also if you are staying longer than 5 days you can do laundry in the hostâs home which was very helpful.
Brian and Linda (and their sweet pup) were wonderful hosts. Excellent communication, kind and welcoming. I just wish we had known about not being able to do laundry any day other than Wednesday, it would have been nice to be able to do laundry on a Friday or Saturday.
The internet connection was terrible. Need to provide mesh system in the Ohana or separate router. I had a lot of business to conduct and the reliability and speed was practically non existent. Other than that it was a pleasant stay.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Comfortable king sized bed, a variety of spaces in which to relax and enjoy the beautiful surroundings. Very close to all amenities-10-15 minutes to Kona-Kailua.
Brian was available as needed but was otherwise unobtrusive.
We would definitely come back!
This place is up the hill from Kona just enough to bring the temperature down and the ambiance up. Extremely quiet, very safe. The neighborhood is sleepy. It's almost a straight drive (10mins tops) down to Kona and Ali'i Drive. Easy access to the Queen K for all the day's excursions. Kitchen is big.
Lacks wifi and washer/dryer, but perhaps that will be remedied for future guests.
Extremely friendly owners live upstairs in the main house.
Enthusiastically recommend the place.
We had a great time in the One bedroom apartment. The Garden is beautiful and the house is in a very quiet area in Kona, but about 5-7 minutes from everything. Highly recommended for couples and small families.
My name is Brian Powers. I have lived in this home for over 32 years. My three children, Leilani, Kailana and Luke were raised in this home. They are now grown and living their own lives in their twenties.
I have been a professional photographer on Hawaii for over thirty years. I am also a pilot and sailor of the seas. I love to take people flying above the Big Island, ask me about it when you arrive.
I now live in this big beautiful home with my wife Linda and our dog Nell and Chester the cat. I am happy to share my home with those visiting Kona.
I hope that you will consider coming and staying at my home in the Hale Olu Ohana below my house. You will enjoy the privacy and quiet of a beautiful apartment with your own living room, lanai, BBQ, yard and hammock to sleep in.
I believe you will come back again once you have stayed once.
I came to Kona from Huntington Beach California in 1975 with a back pack a surfboard and $500 in my pocket. I fell in love with The Big Island and Kailua Kona especially. I fell in love with a woman, had three beautiful kids, surfed the waves, sailed the sea, hiked the mountains and flew above the hot lava all on the Big Island since then.
I fully expect to live out my life in this house Kona. I have been here for 32 years and expect to live here another 32 years.
I can see the ocean from my lanai. Looking to the south is a wall at the end of my back yard. On the other side of this wall are cattle grazing free amoung the trees. Wild pigs wander about each day also seen from my lanai.
The Kona sunsets can be seen each evening not only from my lanai but from your yard in the Hale Olu Ohana apartment below my house.
