Donât hesitate on this property, it is absolutely stunning! We had a great week at this charming pondside retreat while our son was playing at Allstar Village. It was a clean and serene space for our downtime during the tournament. Everything was very clean and cared for, owners were friendly and helpful, our son LOVED fishing in the pond and watching the cows. It was a lifesaver to be able to run a load of laundry midweek. The beds and bedding were very comfortable and stylish! This sweet little spot had everything we needed and the most beautiful view. For a baseball loving family, there were little hints and themes of baseball that we absolutely loved and couldnât wait to leave a pin from our team on the board! If we return, Iâll be sure to book again! Thank you for a spectacular experience!
Clean, serene, comfortable and quiet. Close to SUNY Oneonta where we had a son graduate. Didnât have a chance to fish or lounge, but when we were there it was a pleasant place
Our stay at Abnerâs Retreat was wonderful. The unit is on a beautiful, peaceful property with cows nearby and a fishing pond. There are fire pits and Adirondack chairs to enjoy the outdoors. The beds were super comfortable. There are stadium chairs, folding chairs and umbrellas for those visiting for CASV. The laundry shed has detergent and fishing poles. Several bottles of bug spray are in the unit. Lots of fluffy towels, shampoo/conditioner in the bathroom. The kitchen has everything you need to cook. It takes about 8 minutes to get to downtown/Main Street Oneonta and about 15 mins to get to the CASV fields. Thereâs not much in the immediate area, but everything was close enough to be convenient. We loved staying in this serene location.
We stayed her while our youngest son played at All Star. The property is absolutely breathtaking and we enjoyed relaxing at the farm just as much as the chaotic days at Cooperstown. The Owner could not have been more helpful including taking the time to mail us back some stuff we left. Thanks for a wonderful stay!
Fabulous property just a short drive from Oneonta campus. We stayed for graduation weekend. While the weather wasnât great, we had a few people over for brunch and really enjoyed the property. If the weather had been better, there is fishing with everything you need, a fire pit and lovely outdoor seating to enjoy the scenery. A very charming place to stay. Highly recommend. Also, having done travel sports in the past, this would be a great place to stay for All Star Village families.
Pictures do not do the property justice inside or outside. Itâs beautiful! Waking up to the cows and a fire by the pond was outstanding. Owners were great to deal with! We hope to come back!
Awesome place! So nice and quiet - perfect for the baseball younger sibling especially if they like to fish. My first day back home I so missed my early morning coffee looking over the pond, listening to the cows and rooster.
We had a fantastic stay at the retreat! It was close to town and Cooperstown Allstar Village so that we could participate in all the activities, and a great getaway from the business of it all! The owners are amazing and very helpful! On-site laundry was wonderful too! Highly recommend and would go back in a heartbeat!
We travelled to Cooperstown for baseball tournament and this was a wonderful alternative to staying at hotel. Easy drive to Dreams Park and other popular venues. Extremely clean and tranquil. Would recommend to other families looking for relaxing alternative
Wonderful property!!! We had a small gathering with 3 roommates and families. Picture perfect and incredible scenic area. Such a memory for our boys to end there days in college finishing undergrad studies here. They all loved it and want to meet up there again â€ïž
We came to Oneonta for our sonâs baseball tournament at All Star Village. This VRBO was only 15 minutes from the fields. It is on a peaceful, country piece of property with a lovely pond. In the evenings when there was no baseball game, we enjoyed fires in the firepit and listening to the frogs. The space was perfect for my husband and I.
Please note there is no dishwasher so if you are planning to cook, you will need to be prepared to wash all dishes by hand. This wasnât a big deal for us b/c it was just the two of us.
We can not say enough lovely things about this property. We are avid property renters as managing our family is so much easier in a home rather than a hotel. This location was super close to many major retailers and tons of great places to eat but we felt a million miles away from the noise. Absolutely breath-taking views, a pond where the boys enjoyed catch and release of a few different fish and a super clean, open and inviting home. I always carry Lysol wipes to clean down surfaces at any location we rent and they didn't need to come out here. We also enjoyed the comfy beds and spacious bathroom with fluffy towels too.
We chose this property three years ago for our Cooperstown experience , then Covid hit and had to cancel . The owners were very understanding and there were no issues with cancelation . Now comes my youngest son turn for Cooperstown and we did not look anywhere else but this property . We stayed in unit A and we were not disappointed . The unit looks as advertised . The rooms were very clean and beds were comfortable . The scenery surrounding our unit was right out of a Norman Rockwell painting . The house sits on a hillside overlooking a Small pond for fishing , cows grazing in the background and winding gravel road . Very quiet and peaceful . We were 11 minutes from Allstar Village , which was wonderful .
I would highly recommend this property. Thank you for letting us stay and making our time in New York enjoyable .

I wanted to give this property a 4 or 5 star rating-I really did, aesthetically it was beautiful; but after the second day there we all wished we had spent the hefty per week price tag on a hotel.
Pros:
The property itself seated on green hills, a farm, and a pond-was lovely. It provided a dock for fishing and two firepits. The inside of the barn turned duplex was furnished with brand new everything including a full kitchen. The beds were comfortable (except the futon in the living room designed to sleep one).
And that's where the positive remarks stop.
Cons:
The ad for this property stated that it came equipped with a washer/dryer however that is only true for one side (if at all-we wouldn't know as we did NOT have a washer/dryer in our unit). In addition, the AC unit can only be controlled from one unit (again assuming the unit we didn't stay in as we didn't have control of that either). In 90+ degree heat- I'd like to be able to control the AC!
The walls are PAPER thin. They provide absolutely no noise control at all. I could hear everything;even when the neighbor's microwave beeped. If you are debating staying here with any thought of achieving a little R&R-DON'T.
The kicker however; was the owners. Like most people in the area for the summer, we were staying there for a week while our boys played baseball in Cooperstown. We let our duplex neighbors know we were planning a team BBQ and let the property owner know our plans as well. The neighbors planned to join us, and even left their children with our group to play with our team and eat. We hadn't had the team there for an hour before the owner came by to "check in". She left, and within an hour her husband came back to "check in again". Within another hour her husband returned (at 7pm) to let us know we had to "shut it down" because the neighbors were complaining- (doubtful!) How embarrassing! We are a group of parents, having a BBQ with our children and they treated us like college students throwing a raver, or criminals. Why rent out a property with multiple fire pits and a grill in COOPERSTOWN if you have a problem with a team BBQ during daylight hours? In addition, the husband decided to water the flowers outside of our unit, and outside my bedroom window while we were there and I had the blinds open-after a huge rain. Creepy.
All in all a very uncomfortable, off-putting experience. Do yourself and your family a favor and stay somewhere else.
My husband stayed here for a week along with my 12 year old son (When he wasnât staying in the dorms). The property was clean, peaceful and located in a beautiful location within minutes of the all star village. It was important for him to be close since our son is a type 1 diabetic. Communication was on point with the property owner. We highly recommend this property to anyone. It was perfect! Thank you
Absolutely gorgeous, peaceful, sparkling clean retreat tucked in the rolling hills
What a complete pleasure to stay in unit A of Abner's retreat! This is a real gem of a property! We loved our time here! Alysia and Tom were very welcoming, kind-hearted, and accommodating. The property sits in a tranquil setting on a working farm and large pond. The views are breath-taking with rolling mountains in the background. We enjoyed a roaring fire in the fire pit by the pond, complete with s'mores. The property is incredibly clean, modern, and comfortable. We fully intend on returning, perhaps as soon as next month to catch the changing of the leaves. The proximity to Cooperstown is also a real plus: with a short 20-minute drive, we were in baseball nirvana. Loved this place!!
My family and I stayed here for a short getaway to visit Cooperstown and the surrounding area. This rental had everything you could want. Everything was brand new and it was so comfortable! The owners were so accommodating, giving us recommendations of places to eat and see. We loved the property, which overlooks a pond and has a cozy fire pit to enjoy in the evening. I would definitely recommend this rental to anyone visiting the Oneonta area!
