Wonderful traditional home in the heart of rural Granada
A wonderful, traditional Andalucian house in a small, historic and traditional Andalucian town. The house is spacious, well equipped and comfortable - we stayed in winter so it was a bit chilly at night (though a pleasant 20 degrees during the day) but the owner provided electric blankets, a gas heater and stacks of wood for the stove - which kept the place super toasty. The kitchen had everything needed to self cater including olive oil, salt, pepper, coffee, tea - and stuff you didn't think you needed like miel de cana. The town isn't huge but there are a number of tapas bars (we rated Bar Ochoa pretty highly for its vegetarian options - the Surtido Vegetal was awesome). Free tapas seems to come with every drink and if you let them know you're veggie you'll get something good. And Sami, who looks after the property, was a star - had the log fire burining when we arrived, a font of local knowledge and even brought round a replacement gas cansiter for the cooker on Christmas Eve 5 minutes after we rang her to tell her it had run out. It's that kind of town though - the locals are so friendly - after 6 days we were sitting in bars having conversations with the local dentist and the tour guide from the museum - it's not a 'touristy' town but they really welcome tourists. A great place to stay in a great town.
Great location in the historic town of Alhama de Granada
Following a warm welcome by Sami, we loved our few days in Alhama. Beautifully set on a gorge and with an interesting medieval quarter, Alhama is a lovely place for a few days. Plenty of places to eat and drink and great walks In and around the town. The Casa was located right in the centre with good parking, and was tastefully decorated and very comfortable. Would return without doubt.
I live in Maine in the United States and have a wonderful Property Manager in the town who looks after all our guests and the house. Sami will contact you about your stay and be there to meet you on arrival as well as be on hand should you need anything. She is a yoga teacher and masseuse and has lived in Alhama for 10 years.
My husband and I love the outdoors and cycling and Alhama was the perfect place to enjoy our lifestyle. The house was so perfectly located that when it came on to the market we just had to have it.
