We loved the space for indoor/outdoor games as a family, quiet nooks to read, and the kitchen/dining area for sharing meals. It was close enough to get to our daily activities in nearby towns, but so quiet and cozy when we wanted to relax!
The cabin was the perfect place to stay for a weekend of gravel riding in the area. The cabin provided a clean, comfortable place to stay and the grounds are lovely. We hope to return!
Off the beaten path, but still just minutes from it all.
A secluded spot, perfect for a romantic getaway. Just a few miles from town, great breweries and restaurants to choose from. It was a beautiful setting filled with peaceful nature sights and sounds. The hosts were phenomenal, they went above and beyond to help make our stay amazing.
This cabin is a gem! So close to so much fun. Check in was a breezeâŠâŠthe charcoal grill was great and they thought of everything. Fresh farm eggs. Would love to try it in the winter. Very tastefully done, a very good value.Prepare to relax.
My wife and I have stayed at heritage hideaway for several years and hope to return for several more. It is a perfect getaway for a couple or for a small family who want a quiet retreat in the country but close to Lanesboro and all that it has to offer.
The property is beautiful and very well maintained. It has everything you could want to enjoy your stay. The views and outdoor fire pit are fabulous. I highly recommend staying here
We really enjoyed the cozy cabin. Lanesboro was 10 mins away and very quaint with good food options. We are already planning to come back in the fall to enjoy the fall colors and local apple orchards!
The property was gorgeous! Went for several walks and just enjoyed the natural surroundings. The cabin itself was adorable and filled with family heirlooms and photos of the owners. Troy and Laurie were very attentive to any needs that popped up and even came over to service the air conditioner during our stay to make sure we stayed comfortable.Looking forward to visiting again during the winter to enjoy some cross country skiing!
We had a very lovely weekend stay at this cabin. It was very easy to access many different state parks from the area and the property itself was very beautiful.
The hosts were great. The farm fresh eggs were a treat. The cabin was awesome and decorated with their family history. The country quiet was what we needed and enjoyed. Highly recommend!
One of the prettiest, most well kept properties that we've ever stayed at. Perfect location, beautiful surroundings, and great cabin. Would stay again in a heartbeat if we were ever in the area.
This was my 2nd time here with my cousin. We love this cabin so much. Itâs far enough away from people and town but not too far that we couldnât go do things. The area is so beautiful with all of its hills and farms. We went to 4 state parks in 4 days and did a lot of hiking and exploring. We will definitely be back.
This cabin is totally adorable! Perfect for a quiet getaway. Secluded and such a great view! Beautiful drive to neighboring towns. Would love to stay here again in the summer!
Troy was born and raised in the Lanesboro area. He works as an Engineer for Minnesota Department of Transportation in Rochester. In his free time he enjoys hunting, fishing and just generally being outdoors. The Danielson family continues to maintain the original family farm nearby. Laurie grew up in west central Wisconsin on a small hobby farm. She works as a pharmacist for Mayo Clinic in Rochester. She loves living on the Root River and enjoys gardening, cross country skiing, snow shoeing and biking the Root River Bike trail. We feel fortunate to live in such a beautiful place and enjoy meeting our guests. We hope you enjoy your visit to the Lanesboro area.
The cabin site was once a heavily wooded pasture to a neighboring farm. The main cabin was built off site by local Amish and moved into place in 2001. The original log structure had seasonal indoor plumbing and an outhouse nearby. We purchased the property in 2011 and started work on the bathroom & laundry addition January 1, 2012. In keeping with the "rustic" feel of the cabin, finish work utilized recycled barn boards from Laurie's childhood farm.
The pictures and many items in the cabin reflect our personal heritage. From the handmade quilt from Grandma Christine to the barn pulleys from the original Danielson family farm, all are reflecting the value of hard work and thriftiness instilled in us from our ancestors. We hope you enjoy the peace and beauty of Heritage Hideaway and are inspired to reflect on your own personal heritage.
