Incredible location and fully equipped house. Saw raccoons, heard owls each night, heard loons multiple times throughout the day and night, Chipmunks, crowsâŠ.
Had a very memorable week and a very serene spot!
We had a great time enjoying the fantastic location and spending lots of time on and in the water. The house serves us well and provides a peaceful retreat at Squam.
This was a beautiful secluded property that was ideal for a weekend getaway for me and my husband. We were close to Franconia Notch and got to enjoy the beauty that autumn in New Hampshire has to offer. We really enjoyed the coziness of the cabin and the view of the lake from the dock was gorgeous. We are talking about coming back in the summer with our sons to take advantage of the great swimming area.
But do confess, the new WIFI was a plus. No more trips to the library parking lot.
Nice to have the eagle overlooking the dock for part of the day. Always a treat to stay here.
This cute A-frame cottage has the perfect location on Squam Lake. No neighbors, just 100% peace and quiet. Easy access to different parts of the lake. The A-frame construction is charming. The path very gently slopes down to the dock and small beach. A great place to launch my Fliteboard.
Surrounded by woods and birdsong, this funky A-frame provided a wonderful retreat for my daughter and me. We set chairs on the dock and watched loons and ducklings swim by, mountains in the distance and beautiful sunsets. Swimming in the clear water was great. The house has some steep ladder-like stairs to the second floor but is really cozy with a well-stocked kitchen and a nice stone fireplace. We loved our stay at Squam.
After too many years away we fell asleep to loons calling! Finally got to show our son what life is like On Golden Pond. Loved the unique and cozy house. Perfect location â quiet, secluded, lots of loons, and great dock with fabulous view of the lake. Very clean and well stocked. Betsey was very responsive with questions before our stay and Kara was great with info once we got there. A wonderful vacation!
I'd give it six stars if I could. One of the most untouched waterfronts and lake views you'll see. We swam, paddleboarded, biked, kayaked, and hiked, all of which were amazing, especially the water sports. It's hard to describe the beauty of this part of Squam in late summer - early foliage, rainbows, almost no boat traffic, loons, pristine shoreline, majestic islands with the Squam Range and Mt Chocorua looming behind. The A-frame is old school with all you need for the time not spent on the lake. In a word....stunning.
Clean mid century A-frame with great lakefront location on Squam Lake. If you are looking for minimalist decor or luxury style, this is not it, but if you want the feel of staying in someoneâs family camp, then this is your place. Very isolated, private, and quiet. Be aware that you have to climb a steep ladder/staircase to reach the bedrooms. There are built in twin size areas to sleep available in the living room if you cannot handle the climb. A wood stove is available to keep the house warm if needed. There is no television, but there is good WiFi. A canoe and kayak are available to explore the beautifully clear Squam Lake area. Also know that the water in the house is from the lake, so be sure to bring your own bottled water.
This year we stayed at the Tall Pines again, and it was even more wonderful. What a beautiful place to be in rain or shine- thank you Betsy and to the whole Mead family for this treasure in the woods.
After staying in houses all over Squam Lake I finally landed on one absolutely perfect for my family. The house is located way down a peninsula and has no other houses around it, which gives you incredible privacy and solitude. It was so quiet and we all enjoyed the comfortable and cozy house. There was plenty of space to spread out and watch the world go by either from the dock or the deck. The WiFi was great and allowed us to watch the Olympics every night. The owner was incredibly easy to work with and graciously allowed me to change our reservation by an entire year. We had the best week and I am already counting the days until we can go back next summer. Thank you so much for the loveliest week. 10/10!
We enjoyed our stay very much. The cottage is located fairly central to the lake, set back from the shore a bit and very private. Center Harbor is quite close, which is a big plus for grocery runs, etc. Use of the dock, the canoe, and high speed internet were extra nice.
The kitchen was well equipped as far as VRBOs go, but a little frustrating at times. We wish the cookware, plates, tools, etc. were more curated and better organized.
Overall, we had a great time here. The place was fun and met our needs. We'd recommend!
This was the loveliest trip, despite rainy weather- but I canât imagine a better place to spend lazy, rainy days than this cabin. The house is a dream if you are looking for a cozy, rustic, well-cared for home with history and character. It was perfect for our family of four, returning to a lake that means a lot to our family. So peaceful, so much beauty.
Everything a camp should be. Comfortable beds, amazing (wow really) water pressure, open floor plan, massive dining table. Dock a view of paradise. Eagles, loon, and just a few tourists during the crazy autumn season. Loved all the nostalgia of hanging at a vintage house when we were kids, but with our kids. Would readily return. Happiest when everyone else seems to appreciate what a treasure the teepee is. Go Big Red!
The first 3 days just reaching 60, the fireplace was wonderful to keep us warm with the ceiling fans and blower on. The A-frame was nice and spacious with a large dinning table which was our evening game table. When the sun did come out we enjoyed the crystal clear lake, swimming, kayaking and beautiful sunsets. We also caught some nice fish!
My grandfather purchased land on Center Harbor Neck nearly 100 years ago. He gave the piece where this house is located to my father, who designed (with my mom) and built the Tall Pine Teepee in the late 1960's. My father has passed, but my mother now owns it and I handle the rentals. I've come to Squam every year of my life, and introduced my family and friends to its wonders. We cherish our quiet time here, and hope you will, too.
If you know Squam, you know that the tip of Center Harbor Neck is an ideal location on the lake. We have a Western exposure for all-day sun. Ten minute drive to Center Harbor for supplies. Quick run to Holderness to get boat gas. Perfect view of the mountains. Sunset views from the house and dock. Quiet location at the end of the road in the woods. Mosquitoes included at no charge!
12 acres of woods surrounded by conservation land. Crystal clear Squam waters with a clean, sandy bottom. Visits to and from loons, eagles, herons and more. Great swimming, boating, fishing. Nearby golf, hiking, tourist attractions. Nature all around you.
