Linnet Cottage (Thornton Farm Cottages - Berwick-upon-Tweed, Northumberland)

Situé sur une petite ferme biologique avec des ânes miniatures et de jeunes bovins des montagnes, Linnet est un chalet confortable meublé à un niveau élevé. Tous les draps, serviettes, chauffage, électricité et wifi inclus dans le prix de location. Un pack de démarrage de papier toilette, torchons, produits de nettoyage, thé / café, etc. sera fourni pour votre séjour. Un maximum de deux animaux par réservation.

Le rez-de-chaussée est à aire ouverte avec un salon, une salle à manger et une cuisine. La salle de douche est située à côté du salon. Le premier étage a une grande chambre principale avec un lit superking (disposition facultative de deux lits simples) et une vue imprenable sur les champs. Il y a aussi une chambre simple.

Thornton Farm Cottages sont parfaits pour des vacances loin de tout! Il y aura toujours des fleurs fraîches, nos propres œufs et une pinte de lait dans le réfrigérateur pour votre arrivée.

Thornton Farm se trouve à 8 km au sud-ouest de Berwick-upon-Tweed. Il se trouve à courte distance en voiture de Norham Village avec Norham Castle, un excellent pub et des magasins locaux. Notre pub / restaurant le plus proche est à 1,6 km du chalet.

Cheswick Sands est à 15 minutes en voiture et propose de fabuleuses promenades le long de certaines des côtes les plus désertes et les plus belles de Grande-Bretagne. Nous pouvons offrir des laissez-passer à Paxton House où vous pourrez pique-niquer au bord de la rivière Tweed, visiter la galerie d'art ou marcher le long du Chainbridge.

Les invités sont invités à rencontrer nos ânes miniatures ou à aider à ramasser des œufs. Nous aimons vous laisser en paix et donc tout est proposé, mais jamais mis sur les invités. Il y a de magnifiques promenades autour de la ferme et les invités adorent apporter leurs appareils photo pour observer la faune.

Lovely relaxing break. Cottage was lovely and not far from anywhere. Host was excellent, friendly and accommodating. A visit to The Lavender tearoom in Etal is a must!

Fantasttic week cycling

Great property in perfect location for access to multiple cycle routes along very quiet country roads. Nice quiet and private garden overlooking open countryside.

Nothing to much trouble

We had a very nice stay. Enjoyed the lambs, chickens, ducks and guinea fowl in the meadow. Bed was very comfortable and shower was powerfull. Laura allowed me to store my motorcycle in a barn for the duration. A lovely peaceful location.

Wonderful peaceful location

Fantastic break in Linnet Cottage at Thornton Farm. Very well equipped cosy cottage, with massive bed! Brilliant peaceful location, just a few miles from the beautiful Northumberland coastline. Laura was very helpful in the booking process, telling me all we needed to know and always a speedy reply. I would not hesitate to recommend to a friend. We will return!

Lovely cottage well equipped with everything you need, very clean throughout, lovely enclosed garden with amazing view, great for children and dogs, great get away if you just want to get away from it all the only thing I would say is you have to drive if you want to go anywhere no shops in walking distance but the beautiful views made it all worth the travelling

Perfect mini-moon

Loved our week here! Cottage was exceptionally clean, has all the basics needed for a comfortable stay and really nice quality e.g. bedding/towels/handsoaps .etc. Bed is huge and very clean and comfortable. Farm is quiet and well kept, eggs and milk were a nice touch, and more eggs available at farm entrance - the duck eggs were delicious! The field behind the cottage was full of lambs which was lovely to wake up to and the property is gated with a small garden so we could let our dog wander in and out safely which was nice. This farm is rural and you do have to drive to get to places but we knew this and were okay with it. Favourite local beach was Cocklawburn. Goswick sands is good too, although take care with the dog as large parts of it is nature reserve so on-lead only. We visited Dunstanburgh, Bamburgh (fantastic beach!), St Cuthberts cave, Alnwick and Berwick, all between 15 and 45 mins away. Parking was easy everywhere and mostly free! Berwick upon Tweed is okay, some nice shops - Northern Edge coffee was a hidden gem, dog friendly too. We visited Norham on the thursday evening as there's a visiting fish and chip van, and had a lovely walk round here too. We had no issues at all during our stay. A lovely, relaxing week :)

Winter Break

Stayed at Linnet Cottage for 10 days in November. The cottage is warm and cosy and has everything needed. Alhough the cottage is situated on a farm the roads leading to it are good and not far from the main access road between Coldstream and Berwick-upon-Tweed and to the A1. Laura made us super welcome and there we're nice touches in the cottage like fresh flowers, dog towel/bowl and proper Ordnance Survey maps of the area. Laura responded to all our queries over the 10 days. Fresh eggs can be bought from the farm and arrangements made for them to be left on the doorstep. Although most fields appeared quite bare at this time of year we were lucky to see plenty of wildlife around the area including deer, a weasel and many birds of prey. Fabulous relaxing stay

We stayed at Linnet cottage for a couple of days and had the most restful time. The cottage is in a lovely rural location which offers peace and quiet for your stay and has everything you need for a relaxing break. Laura provided us with a wealth of local knowledge of places to eat and visit, and there is a really useful information book in the cottage. The view over the fields from the lounge/ diner and bedroom is wonderful, as is the sunset. We visited Lindisfarne, Etal, Wooler and Berwick, all within easy driving distance. We had a lovely relaxinv stay and would love to visit again and definitely recommend the property for anyone wishing to have a quiet restful break away from our busy lives.

Ideal for peace and quiet.

This delightful cottage is set within a working farm but this caused no problems or disturbances at all. Everything you need is provided for you, just bring food and clothes. Sit in the garden and have a drink, see if you can hear any traffic noise.... I couldn't! It's within a short drive of Berwick and Spittal beach is ideal to exercise your dog and it's free parking here!

Great escape

We enjoyed our stay in the Laura‘a cottage very much. It was a lovely, relaxing space with everything we needed and lots to explore in the area. We visited beautiful Cheswick beach and really wished we’d stayed at the cottage for longer. Thanks to Laura for the stay and her excellent communications.

Linnet Cottage September 2020

Excellent accommodation in a beautiful area. Clean and comfortable, it was definitely home away from home. Booking process great, contact from Laura told us everything we needed to know pre-arrival. Nothing was too much trouble during our stay and we were made very welcome. A fabulous holiday. Highly recommended.

Lovely spot!

Great place to stay for a few days away. Laura who owns the cottages keeps you well informed of everything prior to your arrival. Linnet cottage is for 2 & 1 small child. The living space is quite small but cosy. The main bedroom. Is beautiful & an amazing super king size bed! Would definitely recommend 😃

Great Weekend in Linnet Cottage

We stayed with our Grandson and had a wonderful time. Laura, Anna and Jane could not have given us a warmer welcome, especially around the farm. A fantastic place to take children. The cottage was very clean and the beds were great. Everything we needed for our Grandson was supplied. If we go back,with a toddler, however, we would take one of the larger cottages as the living area was just too small to contain him. We resolved this by moving the toys up to the larger bedroom where he had plenty of space to play. Overall, I would highly recommend Thornton Cottages.

Warm and cosy.

The cottage was very warm and the bed was extremely large and comfortable. Nice hot power shower. Nice views and gorgeous countryside walks. Very happy with everything. Thank you for the flowers and eggs. ( The best free-range eggs we have ever had)!

Thornton Farm is a beautiful part of the world. The beaches near us are outstanding and there is so much to see and do locally. We love Etal and walking along the River Till.

Linnet Cottage has lovely views from the bedroom. Thornton has a wonderful landscape and even though you are 3 miles from a shop it can feel like a total escape.
