Great property! Very private. 360 views. Open concept perfect for sharing time with your group. We found everything we needed. All is new and comfortable. My family would definitely stay again.
My family loved the unique design and spaciousness of the house. The kitchen was well equipped and everything was very clean. The manager was helpful and friendly. Location was great, close to a great area of Anza-Borrego and downtown while feeling private and very quiet. We definitely would love to come back.
This is our second stay at the Pilot House. It was as lovely as our first stay. Four separate bedrooms allow privacy for everyone and the large open area is great for hanging out together. Other than the coyotes and an owl, it was very quiet at night. We hope to stay here again on a future trip.
My friends and there kids had a great time at the house and the big kitchen made for a perfect place to have our thanksgiving. We would definitely stay here again.
With the pandemic going on and all the other things 2020 brought to the world, I knew I wanted a peaceful, quiet and safe place to celebrate New Year. The plan was to have a few of our very close friends come but that didnât work out. So...it was just me and the husband. Upon arrival, I met with Mary who was a sweetheart. She gave me a full rundown of the property. I arrive at the house and it was beautiful. Very unique design almost like the Navajo hogans. When I entered the home it was very clean and well decorated. It had a homey feel. Great kitchen. We spent a lot of time cooking and never was there a time we didnât have something we needed. The beds are a little firm but comfortable. We spent the nights looking at the stars and listening to the coyotes. We did a lot of hiking in the area. Overall we loved this place.
Diana and Gabriel Wisdom had this house built on this large parcel across from the Borrego Valley Airport in Borrego Springs. The house was completed in 2015 and is now for rent.
The Borrego Airport Pilot House is on 55+ acres which were homesteaded more than 100 years ago by the area's most famous pioneer, Alfred Armstrong "Doc" Beaty (1870-1949).
Directly across from the airport office and restaurant,"Pilot House Road" leads to a large octagon-shaped building nestled in the old grove of Tamarisk trees.
Designed to be a vacation rental retreat for visiting pilots and adventurers, owners Diana and Gabriel Wisdom have also decided to make the Pilot House available for fundraisers, flying clubs, air shows, and other special events.
The house has three full ensuite bedrooms each with it's own bathroom and another optional bedroom without it's own bathroom, and includes all the modern ecologically sound luxuries like solar power. The bedrooms extend from each of the four sides of the octagon. From the air, it looks a little like the front of a four propeller bladed airplane.
The oldest octagonal building in the world is the Tower of Winds built in ancient Greece in 300 B.C.
The newest octagon is now available to enjoy at Borrego Valley Airport.
The middle of the house is a huge great room with kitchen, dining room and living room. The bedrooms are all off the great room and equally separated from each other.
