Another fantastic stay at the "Wheelhouse" in Pochet. A very relaxing week and great weather the entire time. As always Katy was very responsive to any issues that came up during our stay. It is a great family spot for a true beach vacation on the Cape. We all are looking forward to coming back to the "Wheelhouse" again in June '26.
Our vacation was great. The house as always was fabulous, wonderful ocean views, house is stocked with everything you need especially the kitchen. Katy was extremely helpful and responded quickly. Thank you!
We had another wonderful stay at the Wheel House. The house is spacious and well stocked, the views are unparalleled, the sunrises over the ocean are gorgeous, and the beach is a short walk away.
Katy is an outstanding host, very helpful and responsive.
We canât wait to come back next year!
We had a wonderful stay at this property. There are two decks and a screened porch and the view from each is fantastic! The neighborhood is quiet and serene, the beach is beautiful, and the host very responsive. All in all, a great place to stay!
We had a great and relaxing stay!! The pictures online do not do this property justice! Very surprised at how spacious the property is. Very well stocked and had everything we needed to make this a relaxing week. There is a short walk to the beach, but once you get there It's great! Property owner was gracious and easy to work with. Great stay!
Our family has been renting this property for a week or two most summers for the last 20 years. Personally this was my 8th-ish stay at the house. Weâve grown a real attachment to the place. You canât beat the location, view, or charm. Everything the 6 of us needed was right there. This was the cleanest I had ever seen the house. Definitely worth our trip from Wisconsin. Weâll be back, again.
My wife and I have been to Cape Cod several times before but our two friends who stayed with us have never been, so we rented this house based on the VRBO presentation because we wanted a house that overlooks the ocean. Well, I will say that this house gave us the best Cape Cod experience that I could've hoped for. As in the pictures the house overlooks not only the ocean but the salt marsh and little Pleasant Bay as well. The wildlife that we were able to see from the upper deck all week long was just unexpected and wonderful. We spent a good portion of our time on the upper deck with our binocular's just watching the goings-on in the marsh and bay. Not to mention the beautiful sunrise we witnessed right from the upper deck. We did go to the beach a couple mornings early for sunrise but the other days we sat on the deck with a cup of coffee and watched the sun come up. It was wonderful. We found the house to be very comfortable and had everything we needed on the premises. We did venture away from the house a few times to do some sightseeing on the Cape but I think I speak for everyone when I say that we looked forward to getting back to the house to enjoy all that it has to offer. Would I stay at this location again? Absolutely!! And I look forward to it. Thank You Katy!
We loved the quiet neighborhood and charm of this family owned home. There was plenty of space for our family of 7 including a new baby. The charm was not lost on us however more attention could have been taken to attend to aging bathrooms, and higher level of weekly housekeeping and overall maintenance.
We had a great stay. The views from the upper deck are wonderful. So peaceful and relaxing. There are many activities nearby for everyone. We golfed, kayaked (provided!), fished, and of course, went to the beach. Also it's a great place to do absolutely nothing. :) If you have little ones I would recommend Skaket Beach at high tide. I loved the quietness of the very private neighborhood. We had to contact Katy once when the propane for the gas grill ran out and she had two tanks for us the next morning. Thanks Katy. Can't wait for our next Cape vacation.
this place is very comfortable from the first night to the last night. The only problem we had is it is not very well cleaned and does need some minor maintenance. Other than that, no one wanted to leave. walk to the beach less than half a mile and plenty of room for private time. nice cool breeze all the time. it actually got a little chilly so bring jackets just in case.
We will try to get back here. Some of the other places look nicer but we personally like the old homey feel of post and beam construction.

My family has rented on the Cape for years, but never before had we been in walking distance (~10min including the boardwalk over the marsh) to the beach, and lemme say it's a game-changer. Unfortunately with our growing family we will likely size out of staying here again, but would def consider it in a heartbeat if it kept working for us! Big open living/kitchen/dining space was comfortable to move around, comfortable beds with ample windows to enjoy the breeze. Love the marsh views and falling asleep to the sound of waves and birds every night. Quiet residential neighborhood and semi-private beach near Nauset were top notch. Ample parking, all the amenities you could want - kayak, boogie boards, grill, laundry, stocked kitchen. The only drawback is the lockbox containing key is a bit old and sticks easily. Also note that the walk/park permit for the private beach area for summer 2022 say 2021 on them, which was unknown to us initially but luckily the nice man guarding the entrance each day let us through knowing which house we were staying at.
Perfect property to get away. Overlooking salt marshes with ocean sounds in the background. Cozy classic Cap Cod house comfortable for the week for a family. Plenty of time to experience all of the Cape with proximity to all. Beach walking distance. Kayak launch close by (need a way to bring with car - too far to carry). Easy to get answers from property manager for questions not summarized in advance. Located away from âthickly settledâ areas in a private managaged neighborhood.
This tucked-away location, within view and sound of the waves, was perfect for us to connect with our college kids over the holiday. Plenty of space and privacy. The house had everything we wanted and needed for our visit and we would definitely stay here again. The beach is an easy, three-minute walk down the quiet, private road. We watched the herons and egrets in the marsh, looked for constellations at night, and loved the central location of Orleans to explore other parts of the Cape. You can feel the generations of love and happy family memories in this house.
This place could not be better situated. It shows itâs age, but so do I. Tremendous space, comfort, and views to keep you coming back. Very highly recommended.
It's a spacious and interesting house. There are bikes, kayaks, and boogie boards in the garage, and all were used. The view is lovely and ever-changing. If you have a large group (we had 6), this house is for you. The glass table on the master bedroom patio needed wiping down from some accumulated dust, but other than that, all was clean.
We had a wonderful week plus right next to Nauset Beach. The house was beautiful, with lots of great views from inside the house and out on a couple different decks. A great big yard for kids to play in, and easy access to the Pochet association Nauset Beach access point (maybe a 3 minute walk?). Itâs a straight shot to drive to Skaket Beach on the other side of Orleans. Easy access to downtown and a few restaurants as well. We tried both Barleyneck Inn and The Rail, and had a great meal from both. Katy was receptive and quick to respond to questions. We had a really great stay and we would love to visit again some time.
The wheel house is the best. Itâs situated on picturesque corner of the cape, with views of a tidal creek and the ocean from almost every window. There is a short scenic walk to a beautiful beach with very few people on it. Fully stocked kitchen. Plenty of space and multiple decks. We had a great week!
The Wheel House has been the perfect nest for our annual Mother's & Daughters gathering. Plenty of space for everyone. The kitchen is great. Orleans has everything we need for the weekend.
My family of 8 stayed the weekend in this beautiful home! It had everything we needed including a toasty fireplace to sit by when a roaring storm hit! Amazing views of the ocean from the three decks and most windows! Would highly recommend this home to anyone who loves having access to the ocean! Thank you Katy for your hospitality and sharing your amazing home!
The Wheel House is your quintessential Cape Cod beach house. The view from the house is breathtaking, the secluded location is perfect and the house is large. There are 4 good size bedrooms and 2 1/2 bathrooms. Kitchen is well stocked. There is a deck off the upstairs family room and a screened in porch off the master. Everything about the house is worthy of a 5 star rating.
Our New England family has owned this house since it was converted from a duck-hunting cottage in 1961 to a year-round, ocean-front home. The home has had many updates over the years and is now jointly owned by the family's third generation.
This home was lovingly passed down through generations and has been enjoyed by family, friends, and now conscientious renters since 1999. My grandparents, the home's original owners, retired to the cottage from Manhattan due to its spectacular views of the ocean and proximity to Chatham, Brewster, Provincetown, and other areas of the old Cape. The Cape Cod Baseball League games are also hosted in Orleans Center, bringing free professional-level baseball to the Lower Cape all summer long.
As children we loved to play 'house' in the small bedroom and bath in the upper loft, accessed by a custom-made iron spiral stairway. Paper airplanes also festooned the living room below from eager young 'pilots' stationed in the loft. A large side yard is perfect for croquet, badminton, volleyball, or spirited games of wiffleball, watched admiringly from adults relaxing on the nearby deck. A winding path off the driveway leads down to the inlet, where all manner of animals can be observed in their natural habitat. The Wheel House is named for the enormous ship's wheel mounted high over the vaulted-ceiling living room, making the house feel like a ship, particularly in storms. Walks to the beach for smooth heart-shaped rocks, shells and sea glass have been our family passion for decades.
