Full of charm and history. Perfect location for sunrises. The owners have thought of your every need and exceed expectations with what they provide. Cant wait to go back.
Beautiful vintage cottage with amazing views! We chose this location for our Honeymoon and couldnât have found a more perfect spot. Absolutely loved our time here and hope to come back many times
We had an incredible trip to Maine, and particularly enjoyed our stay at Easterly I. The cottage is perfectly located, providing a lot of privacy while still being a short drive to restaurants/supplies. The most enjoyable aspect of the trip was our quiet time around the cottageâexploring the shore and sitting around a cozy fire each night. Our toddler thought it was a pretty magical place and mom/dad agree. :)
Canât wait to come back!
If you are looking for the perfect beach house to rent in Maine look no further. This place was exactly the paradise we wanted. The views are spectacular, the location close to Acadia National park, the opportunities to explore endless. The home was clean, comfortable, and well supplied. Our host left lots of helpful information about the house, and the area for us. If we ever have the opportunity to return this property will be the first we look for.
This home exceeded our expectations, and they were already high. The location is amazing...the water views and waterfront were spectacular. The owners have put a lot of thought into what visitors need for their stay, and there really wasn't anything we needed that we could not find. Providing firewood, paper, and kindling was an added bonus. The furniture was comfortable. The area is quiet, but close enough to Acadia for a day trip. There are some nice local places to eat. We have not one complaint!
We had a great stay at Easterly I! The place was cute and clean and we loved being on the water. Unfortunately there was quite a bit of fog while we were there so I didnât get to enjoy sitting by the water as much as I would have liked but we still enjoyed it. The house had everything we needed especially the kitchen. She has a an entire shelving unit that has everything you need to cook your own lobsters. I highly recommend taking the âCatch your dinnerâ lobster boat tour. It was a lot of fun and we cooked the lobsters ourselves. Itâs very peaceful and quiet on the property and around Corea. If you are looking to get away from the hustle and bustle this is the place for you! There are a few restaurants nearby which was nice when we didnât feel like cooking. You definitely canât go wrong booking this property!
This was our second stay at Easterly I and it was so lovely to return to such a unique and beautiful place. The views from this spot are truly breathtaking. The weather was mostly foggy, but it did not hamper our stay at all. We still got to enjoy lots of fun walking out on the rocks and beach, and even took a swim! Managed to venture over to one of the islands at low tide too, which was fun. We took a Lobster tour with the ownerâs company, âCatch Your Dinnerâ tours, which was a highlight, and great to see Easterly I from the water. The house is well maintained and clean, and beautifully decorated. The worst thing about this place is the pain you feel when itâs time to leave!! Lucky to have found this place and hope we can return again next year. Thank you Melissa and Dan!
This was one of our most favorite VRBOâs. The home was spotless and very comfortable. The beds were amazing! We loved looking at the antiques, old photos, and paintings. So much cool history of the home and Corea. It was cold and rainy most of our stay so we didnât enjoy the amazing oceanfront as much as we would have liked but we did walk the sandbar at low tide to the little island across the way. We watched a local lobster boat checking his traps right in front of the house and were amazed by how much the landscape changed each day with the tides. Our family took day trips to Bar Harbor, Acadia, Lubec, Schoodic Peninnsula, Winter Harbor, and watched how they cast bells at U.S. Bells nearby. A highlight of our stay was the Catch Your Dinner Lobster Tours out of Corea Harbor, run by the owners of Easterly I. We highly recommend the tour so make sure to book early and let them know youâre at their rental. We saw puffins, seals, and helped with the lobster traps. Thank you to the Rodgers Family for sharing your familyâs beautiful vacation rental! We will definitely be back some dayâŠand maybe getting a little sunshine next time!
This cottage tells a story about the original artistic family, while providing a comfortable, cozy place for visitors. The kitchen is well set up and the host provided us with basics to get started. At the center of the house is a beautiful fireplace that we used a couple of nights for warmth. The beds upstairs are comfortable. You have islands nearby, birds to watch and boats going by with several places to sit or have a fire at night. The host was quick to answer our questions or concerns. As others have said, it was hard to leave at the end of our week.
My wife & I visited the Bar Harbor/Acadia area for 4 days. We feel so fortunate that we found this cottage in Corea right on the water. The village is definitely a hidden gem of this region. The accommodations were clean & so unique with the interior artifacts. We highly recommend this cottage & the Corea community & hope to return some day.
Our stay at Easterly I was perfect in every way. On our late arrival on a clear night, it felt like we could see every star in the universe. The next morning, we were in awe of the spectacular location and views from the cottage. Way beyond our expectations. Thankfully we have been to Acadia and Bar Harbor before, because we barely left the cottage we were so in love with it. We brought everything we might need with us, but we neednât have bothered as the house/kitchen is incredibly well appointed â not to mention absolutely charming! We were looking up dates to book for next year before we even left. Communication with the host Melissa was a friendly breeze. Hoping we can come back to stay again and again. Ps. If you are into Oysters, you must visit âLunch on the Wharfâ just up the road. Best looking and tasting Oysters weâve ever had!
Loved every detail of this beautiful cottage. This was a wonderful place to stay on the coast away from the tourist crowds in Bar Harbor. It is an hour drive so you can still go over for a day trip, but the best part about this cottage is just sitting on the ocean and listening to the calm of Maine when the weather is nice or sitting inside in front of the AMAZING fireplace when its rainy and cold. The little towns of Winter Harbor and Birch Harbor are just around the bend for great cafes, groceries, antiques, and souvenirs.
Easterly I is a special place when visiting in Maine. For our family, it ended up being nearly perfect follow-up spot from spending a week on Mt. Desert Island. Two adults and 2 kids (8/6) plus dog. I would not recommend as a base for exploring Acadia as it is 80 minutes away.
The house is rustic (exposed wood), but decorations really give the house a warm and welcoming feel. If you have younger children (5 and under), be aware you will feel a bit overwhelmed by the risk of breaking something, so it wouldn't be my recommendation to stay here with young ones. With four of us, I never felt confined due to the open nature of the house.
The good and greats:
The Picnic Table and Chairs on the rocks - I found myself wanting to start and end my day by having breakfast or making a fire while staring at the ocean and islands.
The Rocks - for kids, it was fantastic to run, jump and explore the shore line from big to small rocks.
Walking island - visiting the neighboring island at low tide was a special treat. Avoid taking dogs over there as the barnacles will hurt their paws.
Searching for sea glass and "lucky Maine rocks" filled hours of time.
Fires (both inside and out) - the choice for the owners to supply firewood was AMAZING. It really improved our visit not having to get wood for fires on colder nights or for the ocean fires.
Internet speed was great. I had no problem working or taking calls from the house. Cell service was better here than in Acadia.
Food: The local IGA has what you expect from a small town, but you can drive 30-35 minutes to a Walmart or Hannaford grocery store closer to Acadia which you might want to do upon visiting.
Restaurants: Do visit 'Lunch at the Wharf' if open. We really liked and also enjoyed being able to bike ride to the Corea area.
Kitchen was well stocked.
The improvements:
The box springs absolutely need replacing due to the noise made when barely moving. As much as we loved Easterly 1 this could be a challenge to consider returning.
The Beds are very soft, so if you like firm beds this may not be the house for you. The daybed was firmer.
Storage space - the kitchen or area could lose some of the decorations and thus allow more space to store food/supplies for cooking.
Note: We were there the road to Winter Harbor was washed out so visiting Schoodic Pt and those areas was much more involved. When working, getting to other restaurants and attractions is easy.
Rustic cabin on the calm, peaceful part of the Maine Coast
This s a fantastic place to spend a few days if you know what you're looking for. Right on the water with no boat or automobile traffic to be seen or heard. A great place to paint or build a fire outside on the rocks at night 20ft. from the water. We saw seals swim by each night at dusk. Just know what it is (and is not) before you book. If you are looking for Bar Harbor, this isn't it. Options for food, gas, and shopping are not right around the corner. The cabin is very rustic (which we loved), but you need to expect the things that go along with that. There are no locks on some of the doors, the upstairs flooring squeaks loud enough to wake up everyone in the cabin if you get up in the night, and things along these lines. All part of the charm of the cabin. and what you should expect from a structure that old. Very clean and well kept and Melissa was very responsive via text. My only suggestion would be to keep a small axe in the garage so the firewood can be broken down into kindling. It's impossible to start a fire on the windy coast without kindling and going through the wood to try and pry off small pieces was very time consuming. We would definitely stay there again.
We had a lovely time. We spent many hours at the beach, having it mostly to ourselves. We never tired of waking up to ocean sounds and views. The cabin was cozy and cute. Overall we would love to stay again!
Our stay in Corea was perfect. The house was in an incredible setting with privacy and access to the ocean out our back door. The house had everything you could need with beautiful central fireplace for fires every night. The biking up in this area is truly incredible as we were out every day with a couple of day trips to Acadia as well. We have vacationed in the Schoodic area a number of times in the past and are always drawn back. It is a great place to get away and this property was perfect.
This home really is nothing short of spectacular! Right on the ocean with unbeatable views. The rock fire pit was wonderful! We enjoyed spending time on the rocks in the morning looking for sea glass and shells and in the evening for a fire every night.
We even got to enjoy the beautiful fireplace inside.
My husband and I were looking for a place outside the touristy areas but close enough to Acadia. We went with another couple and they were so impressed by the location and property. The space was perfect for the four of us, with two bedrooms and a 1/2 bath in the loft area. Loved the antique decor!
I woke up to see the sunrise almost every morning of our stay... between the sunrise and lobster boats it was always a "new" view and so gorgeous. Such a peaceful, relaxing location.
We ventured to Bar Harbor one day, not bad drive and well worth it. There is a ferry, but we opted to take the Wrangler so we could take in the park views while driving through.
Highly recommend the co-op for lobsters. The Lobstore was another great spot for fresh seafood. The house was well supplied with everything you need to make and enjoy a lobster & seafood dinner. In fact, they had the cutest lobster plates and cups to go along! We really appreciated the local bottle of wine left for us, thank you!
Maine is my happy place, but this property is my new favorite. We can't wait to return! 100% recommend booking the Easterly I for a slice of Maine all to yourselves!
This property was just we were looking for our vacation to Maine.
The view was breathtaking! Easterly II was a comfortable but rustic home! Perfectly decorated with everything needed to cook and make our stay memorable. The town of Corea is a cute rural town with down to earth folks. The wharf restaurant is one not to miss during a stay. We will return to this lovely place. Thank you to the Rodgers for sharing this home with us.
This was our 2nd stay at Easterly I and we thoroughly enjoyed every minute! It's wonderful in every way...the private location, gorgeous views, walks, character, and comfort. Thank you so much for sharing this heavenly place!
Our family wished we had book a longer stay here. We thoroughly enjoyed the quiet and beauty of this place. The fireplace was also enjoyed frequently by our family. Acadia was beautiful and within driving distance. We plan to come back in the future and stay for a longer period of time.
My whole family ranging from 12 to 72yrs of age loved this property. Sitting on the rocks with a cup of coffee and watching the lobsterman pull traps was an early morning ritual. Grandgirls went to the beach everyday and at low tide collected shells, rocks, sandollars and even found hermit crabs and moon snails. The cottage looks over the most breathtaking view of our Maine coast.
Met Melissa and found she is very personable and eager to meet every need.
Lovely, cozy cottage just steps to the ocean. The house is beautifully decorated, with incredible views of the ocean and nearby islands from nearly every window. Very quiet and private. Well-situated for trips to Acadia National Park. Communication with the hosts was exceptional. I look forward to staying here again in the future.
This was our fourth trip to Corea, fifth trip to the Schoodic Peninsula, and the first time in EasterIy I. We met Dan, his father and son while on a walk on our last trip and they cemented what we had already learned about the area - itâs filled with friendly, salt of the earth people.
We found the home to be everything we hoped for....Steps from the beach. Quiet. Private. Relaxing. Whatâs not to love when you are looking at the ocean and bar islands from nearly every window. If thatâs not enough, sit on the deck in the ocean breeze or walk the few steps needed to sit on the rocks and watch the tide roll by.
The house had everything we wanted - fully equipped kitchen, stove, gas grill, all the utensils you could need, linens... everything. The one question we had was answered promptly by Melissa.
We loved everything about our stay here. So much so we booked a week for next June already. If you want the beauty of the Maine coast without the tourist feel and crowds of MDI, then this is the spot for you.
If your looking for a place to relax and escape from reality for a bit than this is the place to visit, and we are only 6 miles from the Schoodic section of Acadia National Park which boasts some amazing scenery and wonderful hiking, biking & walking trails
