We enjoyed out Christmas vacation off the beaten path, yet close to everything. Rod was very attentive and responde quickly anytime we reached out.Very roomy for a big family.
This cabin was the perfect getaway spot. It is so peaceful being up on a mountain away from the busyness of downtown. I loved how stocked to kitchen was with all different sizes of pots and pans along with all the seasonings you can think of. Suppling the soap for the washer was also a plus. Couldnât have asked for a better host.
Very nice cabin, well stocked with cooking supplies as well as various spices. A little high up on the mountain, definitely need snow chains in the winter.
Perfect cabin for our little getaway. Clean, comfortable, spacious, all the amenities of home were provided. All we had to bring was our food and clothes. Well pleased with what was provided like, trash bags, hand soap, full size laundry soaps, spices, sandwich bags of all sizes, and more! Communation with the host was remarkable! I was extremely satisfied and will be staying again in the future!
Check in process was super easy. Rod was available for any needs. Greatly appreciated enough trash bags, dishwasher pods, laundry detergent, toilet paper etc. Kitchen was well appointed. Saw tow bears (or the same one) twice!
We enjoyed a long weekend with another family in this cabin. The cabin has everything you need. There are actually decent kitchen knives, spices, handsoap, and toilet paper. The beds are very comfortable. There is lots of space. The kids enjoyed the loft with the video game table. The gated neighborhood has a nice pool and tennis / pickleball courts. Pickleball paddles and balls were provided at the court. We had a mama bear with 2 adorable cubs wander up above the cabin. It is a drive to get up to the cabin, but it's nice to be away from everything. I just wish there was a mountain view. Suggesions for the area - hiking in the Smokies (Spruce Flat Falls, Cataract Falls and nature trail, Grotto Falls), Alpine Coaster, Old Mill Restaurant, Hill Billy mini golf.
Hosts were super easy to work with and great communication, Very responsive to messages, House had very comfortable furniture, and more than adequate supplies, this home was perfect especially with teenagers, as they stayed upstairs and had it to themselves. Made it more enjoyable for them.
We love the cabin. Had plenty of room for everyone. We got to see a mama bear & her cubs our last day. The cabin was close enough to all the things we wanted to do.
This place was beautiful. Very clean and well stocked. Everything was just like the pictures.I will definitely be going back to stay. Rob was fast to reply back to messages about any questions. Definitely recommend this cabin and all the others they offer.
This cabin was very clean and very comfortable and we enjoyed our time. That being said, I do feel that the listing is misleading to a certain extent. I would consider this cabin to be "nice", not "luxury" as the description states. The kitchen was well appointed with new appliances, basic needs such as soaps, baggies, spices, a coffee pot and Keurig. It also included paper products and soaps for the bathroom. There are some aspects of the cabin that could use some TLC or sprucing up. The hot tub and deck could certainly use attention. We were a bit disappointed to find out that only half of the jets in the hot tub worked. We did reach out to Rod and he was quick to respond but the issue was not resolved while we were there. If you are looking for a mountain view, do not book this cabin in the summer or fall while leaves are on the trees, as you will be disappointed. We barely had a view with no leaves on the trees. A few of the things in the house did not function properly, the TV remotes being one, and the basketball game does not have any of the electronics, so there is no way to keep score or compete with one another.Do yourself a favor and be sure to follow the directions given by Rod or that are printed on the pass you are given at check in. DO NOT follow your GPS.All in all, we did enjoy our stay and would definitely stay in Shagbark again and would consider staying at another of Rod's properties, just not this particular one.
This is a beautiful property with a gorgeous view of the Smoky Mountains. We stayed here with 4 adults and 6 children. (ages 8-14) There was lots of room, and many things to keep the children busy. It is evident this property owner has taken the time, and money in renovating and furnishing this property to give it the charm and appeal it has. The rustic touches are great and we really felt like home in this rustic cabin in the woods. The large kitchen table was large enough to fit us all for dinners, and the large countertops, made for easy meal preparation. The appliances were all new and in great working order. All amenities were as described. The outdoor seating was spectacular with many chairs, and seating options. The drive up the mountain is a very steep drive, but all part of the charm of a cabin in the woods, on a mountain. The driveway to the property was recently paved and it was easy to get up and safe. There are two separate parking areas for easy unloading and loading. Overall, we really enjoyed the trip, location, and views.
The hot tub is large and accommodates many people. The road to the cabin is very steep. If you have any snow or ice prepare to stay put. The development does a good job of salting and plowing. Be sure and follow the instructions given for directions to Cabin and do not follow Waze or Google maps.
This cabin is cozy but definitely accommodates a lot of people. The beds were comfortable and the cabin was clean and well stocked with everything you need. I never write reviews but this one deserved a good review! The road is very steep so I recommend a vehicle that can handle it.
Secluded cabin surrounded by woods. Just what we were hoping for. Everything that we needed was available to us. Rod was great checking in to make sure all was well. Even got to see a momma bear and her cubs right off our deck. Would definitely stay again. Only thing missing was a gas fire pit on the patio.
