Beautiful VRBO. Definitely centrally located. Well maintained. Beautiful very high ceilings, did make it a little hard to heat up in winter. Centrally located, but be prepared since on corner very loud street noise.
This apartment was amazing. I watched some of the footage of what the apartment was like when the owners bought it, so it made the remarkable restoration even more incredible. The place was spacious, airy, beautiful and incredibly convenient. The views out the windows of the exact center of Lucca are beautiful. We used the Kitchen to cook our dinner every night and the large table was a hit! The bathrooms were modern and comfortable, the bedrooms were large, comfortable and unique! We used every inch of the place, and we loved it. The stairs getting up to the apartment can be a lot if you're older or have mobility issues, but its central location cannot be beat. It does mean a bit of street noise on busy nights, but I didn't mind that - it added to the ambience of the central location and made me feel like I was indeed at the center of everything. We parked in the free parking lot north of the city and took the but directly from the parking lot to the stop a couple of block away, which worked well for us. Our check in was seamless and the property manager explained everything to us when we arrived. Thank you again for a wonderful stay!
4 bedrooms for 2 adultsâŠone to sleep in , one for my clothes, one for my wifeâs clothes ⊠perfect Beautiful apartment in the exact center of town . 10 out of 10!
I would have given it an 11 if it had a clothes dryer
This property is the essence of Lucca. With a family of 8, we had plenty of space and were in the heart of Lucca. Although there is no parking located within the city, we found the walk to be quick and easy if you are not hauling large luggage. Clean, spacious room with historical value, made this a must-stay again place. Thank you to the host Laura for helping with many questions. Darren and Julie deserve a big thank you for offering this property. Ciao, Matt
With this apartment, you're paying for the location, which is wonderful. The high ceilings and period details are magnificent. But the unit is a bit oversold (hot tub? nearby skiing?), and while very clean, it suffers from neglect; broken kitchen faucet, frosted shut freezer, stairwell lights out, etc... The lack of in-room clothes storage forces people to live out of their suitcases like a hostel (instead of a, uh, hotel). Lack of A/C palpable in summer. Host should respond to issues.
Difficult beginning and end but wonderful in the middle
Three of the four of us are over 75 years old We would never have rented an apartment that meant we had to climb up or down 46 steps every time we came or went. We got this information as a footnote on the 7th page of information after we had already booked. The experience of arriving with no instructions about parking, dragging our luggage for a 15 minute walk, and then seeing two flights of stairs to climb and drag luggage got us off to a very bad start. The rest of our time in Luca was great fun. The apartment is very comfortable and it is an easy walk to get around. The end of the visit that required getting luggage back down the 2 flights and dragging through the cobbled streets again was not easy. It would be a wonderful addition to the plans if there was an arrangement that we could pay for help the first and last day
Great location - on main thoroughfare and handy to everything.
Property will be much better when it is fully finished and fitted out. No wardrobes in any of the four bedrooms. Two rooms had no electric lights, and two or three of the bedrooms only had bedside lamps. No microwave (not essential). Many of the multitude of power points aren't connected to anything. Lounge areas only had a sofa and no side tables. Ikea dining chairs quite uncomfortable. Both bathroom basins only provide a trickle of water (although showers are fine).
We were there for four weeks, so some of the things that might be considered minor became irritating as the stay went on. Especially all of the pillows on the beds (need replacing).
A work in progress, perhaps? The owners do not live in Italy, and perhaps need somone to keep a better eye on their investment.
This was an exquisite property located in the best place possible in Lucca - Via Fillungo, which is the main street. Don't be offput when you enter the door - it's a bit dark and foreboding, but once you climb the two floors to the apartment, it's a tottaly different story! Throw open the shutters and say hello to Lucca!
First of all if you are considering Lucca - book it immediately. This tiny walled city and this apartment are now our favorite places in Italy. The apartment is so very cool. Located levels above the busy street full of people and commerce lays a well designed and super cool oasis. The beds are so comfy and the esthetic of the entire space is super cool. Easy to check in and out, amazing communication before and during the stay. If six stars were an option we would happily award higher marks. Canât stress enough how the is a must book location!
We had an amazing time staying here in Lucca! The apt was clean, spacious, and a great location!! A bit noisy at night so bring earplugs. Other than that, perfect! There were 7 of us and we had plenty of room to be together. We loved that we could walk to everything in Lucca and there is so much to enjoy there!! We did not need a car to enjoy our visit. The train is in walking distance which makes day trip easy. I would stay there again and would recommend to others.
Non fatevi scappare questo bellissimo appartamento!
We are an Australian family who fell in love with Lucca. We stayed for 3 months and put our 3 kids into the local school and decided to buy a property in this beautiful part of Tuscany. Our children aged between 6 and 10 at the time loved the freedom of Lucca, being able to walk the streets or ride their bikes in the town or on the wall that surrounds the historical centre of town. Traffic within the walls of Lucca is very restricted and pedestrians and cyclists make up the bulk of traffic. Whilst our children were at school we forged some lasting friendships which draw us back to Lucca every year. For a family destination in this beautiful part of the world you will find nowhere better. Just an hour by train to Florence and all it has to offer and just a half hour bus trip from Pisa airport make Lucca easily accessible.
The apartment is right in the heart of the Historical centre of Lucca, within the walls and on the main street of Via Fillungo. Restaurants abound with a few hundred metres of the apartment and walking the streets is a sheer pleasure. the building itself, Casa Barletti Baroni is a local landmark and is steeped in history. So if you're a history buff or just love the unique experience of staying in a historical building look no further.
This 13th century building is directly opposite the "Torre del Ore" which is one of the last remaining towers in Lucca. The building itself is a sister tower to that tower and it is a historical landmark itself within Lucca. As you walk down via Fillungo you are drawn to the beautiful old glass windows of our building and many a photo has been taken of the beautiful façade. So if you're looking for a family getaway or just a getaway for yourself and friends then look no further.
