House was perfect for our 3 families. Plenty of room, well stocked with kitchen gadgets/utensils, towels and beach gear. The house was clean, well laid out and the rooms were super spacious. Service was also top notch. We had a problem with one of the ac units and within minutes after calling service was on their way and it was fixed within a few hours.
The "Shore thing" is one of the top properties we have stayed in on Hilton Head! The layout with TV rooms, dining table and kitchen in all one open area fit our group perfectly. The beds were all comfortable and the bathrooms very clean! The kitchen was very well stocked for cooking your own meals! The hot tub looked brand new and got a lot of use without having to heat the pool. The house comes with a full size corn hole set, 4 new beach cruisers, beach chairs and wagons. Loved this house and will stay here again!!
5A Hickory Lane was complete from a well stocked kitchen of all the utensils you can imagine to bedrooms that were roomy and very comfortable, bathrooms in every bedroom and a beautiful swimming pool! The short walk to the beach was a real hit with the teenagers.
The only complaint was the grill was difficult to operate. Needed cleaned and better instructions of operation.
We had a wonderful family time together in this spacious home.
The house is amazing. This is our second time staying here. The property management is OK. The hot tub wasn't cleaned upon arrival and took a few days to get sorted out. We also paid extra for the gas fireplace and they forgot to leave the key for it or give instructions for that or the back gate. Otherwise it is the perfect house.
5A Hickory Lane was a great house for our big group (kids ages 2-17 plus parents and grandparents) to gather recently and ride out Tropical Storm Debby. The house is exceptionally comfortable and functional with every amenity provided. The downstairs fridge came in handy for storing a 1/4 sheet birthday cake, and the beach wagons were great for hauling chairs, toys, etc. At least a dozen beach towels were provided so we never had to use the ones we brought.
Beach access through the short path right across South Forest Beach was tricky after the storm came through, with huge puddles across the path - not surprising after 10 inches of rain. There is a public beach access at Alder Lane just a half mile up the road (via the bike path or you can drive and park nearby) that is asphalt with a Mobi beach mat to get you all the way to the beach.
The bikes were in good shape but note they do not have baskets or water bottle holders, so plan to bring a CamelBak or backpack.
Fantastic property and rental experience! We would definitely return.
Overall, a really nice house - clean, spacious, good amenities and a relatively short walk to the ocean (flat 5 minute walk). Four stars.
Kitchen and dining area was spacious, with plenty of seating and room for our 12 person group. Bathrooms were all clean and updated with - with 5 showers it made getting ready for evening dinner easy with a big group.
Overall, really nice home in a good quiet/private area. We would come back.
Couple of minor things we would offer for consideration that would take this to a five star knock out rating:
1). Bedrooms: There was room in the bunk bedroom to get an additional single bed, would have avoided one child from sleeping on the pull out in the rec room. Also, Would love to see the bedroom with two full beds be two queens (there is room) - just a little tight for two teens on a full.
2). We struggled outside with a bit of a fly problem. No clear garbage source - management gave us citronella candles to help but was not able to do other treatments.
3). Finally, a suggestion for the bottom floor: unfortunate to have to pay extra for hot tub and fire pit when spending a significant amount on peak week pricing. Would rather see those replaced with a wood burning pit (no charge for gas) and put a bar area where the hot tub is to have more entertaining space by the pool/patio. If you did that, could open up the bottom area and remove the screen for better TV viewing vs the current setup which is a bit separated.
The house was beautiful, clean and very well stocked! The pool and hot tub were cleaned twice while we were there. The 175 yds to the beach was a little misleading as it was a difficult trek for young children and elderly adults. We thought we could use the golf cart to get them closer but that was not possible. The main concerns we had were with maintenance. The smoke detectors were going off and on for two days. The fire pit did not work until someone came out to fix it. The gas grill had not been cleaned in a very long time and caught fire when preheating it. The flames shot up three or four feet and fortunately my son pulled the grill away from the house to keep it from the houseâs wooden structure. Toward the end of our stay circuit breakers were popping in the kitchen and not all the outlets would work. In regard to these issues, the management staff was friendly and quick to address the problems, however, it was still frustrating. One other issue that I think needs to be looked at is the elevator. When at the bottom floor, there is about a 4-5 in. gap between the elevator floor and the ground. My husband is handicapped and he caught his foot in the gap and tripped. Fortunately he was not hurt. It is a significant gap as I was able to put my foot in it. All in all, we had a great vacation and will definitely be returning to Hilton Head!
We took a large group (13 total including multiple ages of kids and adults) and all had a wonderful time. The property was extremely clean, well maintained, and very well set up. The outdoor area is fantastic and a great way for the family to gather and spend time together. The beach was extremely easy to get to (access is directly across the street), and away from the busier and more crowded area around Coligny Plaza. Everything was simple, well communicated, and made for a fantastic trip. Itâs hard for me to believe that any family wouldnât enjoy this house
The house, location, and amenities were perfect for our 3 families (6 adults and 6 kids). Pool temp was great. Beach was incredible (including location). 6 kids ages 6-14 never got bored. Bikes were nice bonus.
We enjoyed our stay at this house with our group of 12 (3 families). It was a bit farther away from the beach than weâd expected, and you need to cross a busy road, but was about 6-7 minutes walk, so not bad. The pool wasnât used, but looked very nice. We loved having the free standing jacuzzi hot tub! Overall itâs a beautiful place and we enjoyed our visit.
Great house and location. Grill and elevator werenât working but other than that, a perfect stay!! Comfortable space for 18 adults. Easy walk to the beach. Huge gathering area with open kitchen and living room. Pool area is great, too.I wish they had cleaned the pool midweek like some places do. Would definitely rent again!
This home was absolutely amazing! It was spacious and had a great layout. Everyone had their own bathroom and the kids thought the bunk room was incredible! Very short walk to the beach. Pool and hot tub were fun to use as well.
Spacious and clean beach house with great access to beach, walking and bike trails. Refreshing pool, great screened in porch and room for more than one family!
We loved our time with two other families at Hickory 5A. Itâs a well done home with great space and amenities. Pool was great. Short walk to huge beach. Kitchen is great. Not a lot in the way of extra seasonings and pantry items but what they do have is good quality and enough for the 14 of us. We would love to come back.
The house was simply beautiful and exceptionally clean! We had 9 adults and 3 children with plenty of space for everyone. The pool and recreation areas were great! Our walk to the beach was very easy and took about 10 minutes. We had one issue when we arrived with the freezer not working properly and it was repaired within one hour!!! The whole experience was great! We highly recommend this great property and the management company was exceptional too!
