Lassere offers you a fabulous base to explore the Pyrenees and the Gers, whilst Spain is only 45 minutes away.
Lassere is a converted C19th farm building that retains many of the original features including timber frames and beams and stone ‘galet’ walls and is set in 40 acres of private woodlands and meadows.
The site is south facing, so maximum sunshine for those that want it – and faces straight out onto an unbroken view of the Pyrenees. The accommodation is: The downstairs main room provides a large, open and cool environment that combines a fully-equipped modern kitchen, dining and living space. There is a dining table for 6 inside, as well as dining facilities outside on two garden terraces. Inside there is plenty of comfortable seating, a substantial log burner and a TV/DVD. Both bedrooms (1double, 1 twin) are fully oak-beamed with a stunning view of the mountains. There is a double sofa-bed downstairs. There are private gardens and a massive pool measuring 12 x 6m. The pool has a hard cover so can be used in bad weather, even when it's raining! Generally speaking, the pool can be used from April to late October!!!!

Holiday duration: All prices are per week Saturday to Saturday. Check in is after 4 pm (which is perfect for flights to Tarbes/Lourdes) and check out is 10 am.
Please talk to us if you would like a long weekend or an alternative start date, as we may well be able to accommodate you, particularly out of high season.

Cans and Can'ts: We cannot allow pets.
Smoking is NOT permitted inside the gite.
We can provide a high chair and a travel cot if requested.
We can speak fluent French so can help you with anything you need locally.
We do know local Estate Agents so can help you if you’re property hunting.

quiet and very private house

A luxurious gite.

Ali and Chris have thought of everything you might need during your stay. The gite is spotlessly clean and immaculate throughout, as are the private gardens and the pool. ‘The Black Book’ information pack covers all aspects of the immediate and further surrounding areas. We also had some other specific requests and these were assisted with promptly. Ali and Chris gave us total privacy but were there to offer friendly help and advise when we needed it. A high standard gite that we would love to return to.

Great location, lovely pool but unclear expectations from the property owner and a mouse.

This property is in a great location with stunning views and has a fabulous pool. The all weather cover is brilliant and means the pool is warm all the time and can be used on cloudy/wet days. The property itself is a little quirky (separate steep stairs to each of the two bedrooms so may not be suitable for those with very young children) but well presented with large rooms. There was a list of things we were asked to do before leaving including taking out the bins, sweeping the floors, wiping all surfaces down and ensuring all kitchen items were clean and away. All of this seemed quite reasonable and we thought we had complied. Unfortunately, shortly after we left we received an email detailing problems that the owner had identified and stating that they had kept 50 euros of our deposit. We accepted that this was their right to do so and that we had overlooked issues such as emptying the bathroom bin and cleaning the Nespresso machine, however there also seemed to be an expectation that we would replace all furniture to the exact spot it had been in when we arrived (we had left two of the patio chairs facing a different direction and the living room furniture was apparently not quite in the same spot as when we arrived), that we would fully clean the kitchen (including dishwasher filters) and bathroom and that all kitchen items were returned to the same cupboard and drawer they were in on arrival (difficult to remember after a week!). If this is the expectation, we feel renters should be fully informed so they can try to comply. There is a a smell of damp which the owners attempt to cover using plug in air fresheners. I am allergic to these so unplugged them and the smell of damp quickly became apparent. There is also a very active wood boring beetle infestation in the property that leads to significant accumulations of dust around the place. Our main issue however was with the mouse that we found in the main bedroom one night which was a rather unwelcome visitor. Overall, we enjoyed our week in the property. It did have it's issues but we were mostly happy to overlook them. The lack of detail around the owner's expectations of end of rental responsibilities and the subsequent deduction of 50 euros did leave a bad taste in our mouth however.

Nous avons passé un excellent séjour. Le gîte est plein de charme et situé dans un écrin de nature. La vue sur les Pyrénées à l'horizon est magnifique. Les amoureux de calme seront ravis. La piscine est un atout majeur de la location. Elle est très grande et chaude, grâce au système de protection qui la recouvre. Les déplacements en voiture sont aisés, mais il faut accepter de rouler un peu pour faire les courses ou visiter. Nous remercions Christopher pour son accueil chaleureux et sa disponibilité.

Un petit coin calme, loin de tout...

Merci à Christopher et son épouse pour leur chaleureux accueil. Nous avons passé de très bonne vacances en famille dans leur gîte. Les PLUS sont la piscine (grande et très agréable), L'accueil et la gentillesse des hôtes et la calme souverain qui règne au gîte. Les petits bémols sont l'éloignement (première boulangerie à >20Km! - commerce et activité éloignée imposant de rayonner en voiture...). Le gîte est agréable en été car bien frais mais en cas de mauvais temps, cet avantage peut être un inconvénient (sombre et un peu humide).

Peaceful and relaxing retreat

It is our third visit to this holiday home, so that already shows how much we enjoy going there. The location is amazing, with views of the mountains. The private pool was very popular with our kids, and the villa is clean, spacious and had everything we needed for our stay. We will be back again!

Optimal recreation in perfect harmony

We are surrounded by the most beautiful and magnificent nature living in a beautifully renovated farm with close to hotel standard. The host family welcomed us with fresh eggs from the farm and flowers in the house. We enjoyed ourselves and were overwhelmed.

Vacances de rêves

Nous avons passé 3 semaines dans ce gîte bien situé, calme, avec piscine digne de ce nom. Christopher est très disponible, à noter que le linge de maison est changé tous les samedis les les propriétaires. Un joli bouquet de rose, une bouteille de vin, des œufs fermiers et des bières au frais nous ont ravis. Cuisine parfaitement équipée, et aucune mauvaise surprise, tout est fonctionnel. Merci encore pour ce séjour dont nous nous souviendrons avec beaucoup de plaisir. A bientôt, famille Thiery.

A perfect property

A wonderful property, clean, spacious and comfortable. Christopher and Alison are the perfect hosts, on hand if needed, but always respecting our privacy. The house was well equipped with everything we needed. The wonderful was the icing on the cake - especially the cover. The area is so peaceful, with lots of lovely villages. People everywhere were so friendly. And then there are the mountains - wow!! All in all a great holiday location - would recommend to anyone.

Ideal gite, welcoming hosts, beautiful location

We had an amazing stay in Lassere. The gite itself is incredibly spacious and comforable, really clean and had everything we needed. Chris and Ali were the ideal hosts, friendly and welcoming, happy to answer questions and also allowing us privacy to relax. The swimming pool cover is amazing, letting you swim even in the early morning when outside temperatures are low and can be completed removed when it heats up. Bonus points for views of sunflower fields from the pool! For us the area was ideal - gentle rolling countryside and close to the higher mountains for day trips. Lots of lovely towns nearby, each with bustling markets, ideal for buying food and practicing your french! Couldn't recommend Lassere more highly!

Fantastic relaxing family holiday in a beautiful farmhouse!!

We have just returned from a fantastic summer holiday. Ali and Chris are wonderful hosts who have gone to great lengths to ensure that the Gite is like a home from home. It’s a beautiful house that is spotlessly clean and very well equipped. The pool is absolutely fantastic and as it has a removable cover, we could still use it on the couple of days the weather was a bit gloomy. The view of The Pyrenees from the property was spectacular. It’s a perfect spot to relax, unwind and recharge the batteries. This really is a fabulous place to stay and we would highly recommend it. We will definitely be back.

A perfect place to recharge the batteries. There were plenty of times during our stay that there was not a single sight nor sound of other human activity. Just the magnificent sight of the Pyrenees rising in the distance, buzzards and kites soaring over the valley and the sound of Hoopoes, Orioles and chirruping Sparrows. The Gite is well-appointed and comfortable inside and it benefits from a large swimming pool that be used cover on if the weather takes a turn for the worse (it remained over 30c during our stay). Your charming hosts are on hand to provide help and advice if you need but keep themselves to the themselves if you don't. There are a number of low-key attractions nearby - the Jardins de Poterie Hilen are particularly nice. Lannemezan market (on Wednesdays) is a stereotypical small-town affair with lots of local produce and interesting characters. Tarbes is 50 mins drive but offers a whopper of a market (inc. a flea market) plus lots of regular shops. Of all of the properties we have stayed in during holidays to France over 15 years, this is one we will definitely make an effort to return to. Gareth and Yvonne

Spacious tranquil home away from home.

The gîte was perfect for our stay, spacious, well kept and clean. Ideal for our family of four holiday in the South of France. Two bedrooms with plenty of room and loads of comfy sofas to chill on after a long days sightseeing. Christopher and Alison were the perfect hosts, making sure our stay was the best it could be whilst being helpful and available whilst maintaining privacy and relaxation. They provide a comprehensive folder of information about the local areas, amenities and excursions so you can be as active or relaxed as you wanted to be. Also included are their and previous guests restaurant recommendations which helps if you’re foodies! The pool is fantastic, very large for a private pool and very well kept being outdoors. It isn’t heated but the pool cover means there’s really no need, it was a very good temperature during our stay in July 2018 and there were pool noodles for the kids. Our two girls, and us, spent at least a couple of hours in it nearly every day! Fantastic! We found the property with no trouble at all even in the wee hours of the morning thanks to the GPS coordinates and comprehensive directions provided before we left home. Highly recommend this property and the owners, wed be back in a heartbeat!

Wonderful relaxing family holiday!

The house is beautiful and spacious and very well looked after, stays cool on hot days and offers a welcoming relaxing space after busy days out sightseeing. Christopher and Alison are wonderful hosts, living next door but in completely separate and private accommodation, they are extremely helpful and genuinely care about providing the best stay possible. They have put together a comprehensive folder of information about the surrounding areas, great places to visit, sightsee, activities for all the family, skiing and hiking, restaurants and markets. You will be spoilt for choice and can choose how relaxed or active you wish to be on your holiday. The pool with its all weather cover mean that you can spend hours in it and by it and it’s very well kept and clean. Some pool noodles provided for the kids (we have two aged 9 and 11) and it’s a very generous size for being a private pool. Really made the holiday for our girls! The property is tucked away in the countryside but we had no difficulty finding it as Christopher gave us the GPS coordinates and we easily followed the route (even at 1am after driving from the airport), the description of the access to the house was perfect too. We made a few days trips like, Spain through the stunning Pyrenees, Andorra (quite long drives), Lourdes and a visit to one of the beautiful underground Grottes (caves with stalagmites and stalactites). All in all a wonderful holiday, would highly recommend, would visit again in a heartbeat!

Chouette maison dans le calme avec piscine fantastique

Nous avons passé de superbes vacances dans cette chouette maison. La piscine était magnifique, les enfants et nous-mêmes en avons beaucoup profité. Mr Galtress était très acceuillant. Maison très propre et bien équipée. Nous avons passé une belle semaine au pied des Pyrenées dans une région très jolie et pas encore trop connue du grand public. On reviendra sûrement.

Super Family Holiday

I have just returned from a wonderful stay at the Lasserre gite, which is perfect for a family holiday. The property was spacious, secluded and well equipped. The pool was a good size and very warm (30 Celsius!) due to the recently added cover. The view from the gite is beautiful and there are plenty of countryside walks that can be accessed from the gite. In addition there are many options for visiting towns, cities or mountains by car. The Spanish border is about 1 hour's drive and great for a day trip and some tapas. The owners were very friendly and helpful, providing a lot of information on arrival. All in all it was a great holiday and highly recommended.

Beautiful farmhouse in peaceful location

We had a wonderful holiday in an idyllic location - so peaceful and relaxing. The house is well-equipped, clean and very comfortable and we really enjoyed the large swimming pool as the weather was so warm. We particularly enjoyed visiting surrounding area, beautiful towns and villages of the Pyrenees and even 'popped into' Spain for tapas one evening. We highly recommend this 'away from it all' farmhouse!

Highly recommend

Great house in a great location - quiet, secluded with a great view of the Pyrenees. It was very difficult to find when we arrived at first. Lovely large pool although it was too cold for us wimps - it started warming up towards the end of our stay in mid-July. The weather is a bit changeable in this part of France.
