This was a lovely place to stay. It was a good base to explore parts of London we wanted to explore and a very comfortable home which had everything that we could possibly need for the five days we stayed. Everything about the house is really well thought out with clear, though discreet, information about how things work and lovely art work and decoration add to the enjoyment and comfort. The host gave loads of helpful information about transport options, local shops and cafes which was much appreciated. Highly recommended.

Fabulous spot!

I stayed in this holiday home for a small number of nights and can wholeheartedly recommend it as an excellent spot for a romantic getaway in the wonderful city of London! The close proximity to parks and the vital east end of town make the location great. Attention to detail is clear in the furnishings and renovations. Fond memories of my nights here are largely thanks to the owner's hospitable graces! I very much look forward to the next opportunity I have to stay!

A perfect home

We enjoyed our stay at this lovely and well equipped house in Woolwich very much. We felt at home right from the beginning and we could recommend Explorers Rest without doubt. The house has is a real rest - and after a long day out in London or Greenwich you could hide and relax. Krista is a very friendly host and although she was not in Woolwich everything was perfectly arranged - very personal and so much helpful information about the house and the area around. We would definitely come back again. Very warm regards from Germany.

Charming Victorian House

Charming mix of Victorian character and contemporary detail. Very welcoming and comfortable with everything one needs for a relaxing break. Lovely garden for those longsummer evenings. Main bedroom full of character, and second bedroom has a view over the garden. Easy to reach central London and also historic Greenwich with the Maritime Museum and the famous painted ceiling at the Royal Naval College. Only three minutes walk from Plumstead Common and two minutes from local shops. Would not hesitate to recommend it. I plan to return,

Restful holidays

We stayed in the house for 12 days with our three children (8, 9 and 10). It was very comfortable, clean and well-maintained. We really felt at home. The owner provided a very good customer service - there was a welcome book with lots of great informations about nice places to visit. The area is very quiet and save. When we came back from the city of London we enjoyed the comfortable and quiet ambiance. Our children loved to play football in the nearby park. It was easy to go to the city of London. It only took about 20 minutes by bus and tube.

Dear Ralf and family, I'm so pleased you enjoyed your holiday at Explorers' Rest - and I'm very pleased your children loved the parks; it's one of my favourite things about the area as well. I'm glad your trip home was safe and I hope you're all feeling nicely rested now. I'm sorry I was on holiday when you visited; I would very much have liked to meet you and your family. Next time... :-) All the best, Krista

Truly Amazing Holiday Rental

I travelled here on my first international trip and am truly delighted that we chose this location. Krista is more than acommodating, the house is exquisite, and the location is fantastic. From the first email she helped my friend and I with the trip and was extremely prompt in her replies. The house has all the ammenities that you need when renting a home. I was able to cook full meals here in comfort and felt like it was home when staying here. The beds are comfortable and the house is wonderfully decorated. The location is safe and near public transportation making it very easy to navigate to London's city centre. There is a quaint pub and a local market around the corner as well. This house and Krista are truly a delight, and I look forward to staying here again upon another trip to London!

Our best souvenirs of London!

We "lived" in this house for 15 days during Summer 2009. We were a couple studying English in London and we found this little hidden gem by chance.. actually we were really lucky! What I enjoyed the most was the garden: big, nice, plenty of plants, quiet, the ideal place after a day in the busy London. The house is just perfect: clean, big, romantic, so well decorated! It has a personality, it was a real "love nest" for us. We really appreciated Krista, she is a perfect host, she showed her house completely and left everything there: books & dvd were helpful for practicing our English. If I had to come back to London I'd choose this place without doubts!!!

Gabriela, it was so lovely meeting you and Andrea. You were one of my first guests so I was rather nervous - but everything turned out well so I'm really pleased that you enjoyed your stay here. I'll get in touch when next I'm in Rome, and please do the same if you find yourself heading back to London again. It has been a true pleasure to meet you both. All the best, Krista.

Clearly personal and heartfelt

We were on a month long odyssey of a trip and we started at Krista's place. It remains our favourite place. It is true it is a bit of hike from downtown London but the return "home" after the frenetic pace of central London helps you keep your sanity. We weren't there for one hour before my son said: "I don't know what it is but it really feels like home". The kitchen had everything I needed to cook decent meals and it saved us loads of money on meals. Krista clearly is very serious and thorough about ensuring your family has a great stay. We cannot recommend it highly enough. Trust us, you won't regret it.

The perfect holiday

Visiting London and stay in Explorer`s Rest = the perfect holiday: - You arrive and find immediately a parking place in front of the house! - You came into the house and you feel at home - And then some! - The arragement of the house is absolut complete - we missed nothing! - The garden is lovely - we enjoyed the sunshine! - The surrounding: wow! The whole family was happy - London ca be so green! What a nice surprise. We have enjoyed long walks on the "Green chain walk" - a welcome change to the big city! Highly recommended! Thank you very much Krista! Silke, Ralf, Hanna, Marie & Alva from Cologne

Cozy Greenwich Home

This property was a lovely location; out of the hustle and bustle of busy London, but just close enough that all the tourist sites were not out of reach. The house was very clean and had just been renovated when we stayed here (December, 2010). The house has everything you could need as a vacationer. We took advantage of the fully-functioning kitchen and the cozy fireplace on a nice winter's evening. The owners were excellent and easy to contact/provided really detailed directions, easily reached by public transportation. I would recommend this property to those who, at the end of a long day in London, just simply want to relax and unwind. We did not spend a lot of time in the actual area around the property itself, but as a Kent-resident, I have been to most of the sites in the Greenwich area on other occasions and they are all beautiful, peaceful and relaxing.
Réponse de VrboOwner le 1 juil. 2022

Wonderful place to stay in South London

Dear Krista, Last July, we had a wonderful holiday at your place. We stayed two weeks with our two very young children (2 and 5 years old), and we all loved your house ! Everything was perfect : the house was very clean and so well fitting ! We had the feeling to be "at home", and now our children are asking us to come back in Greenwich !! It was also a good area to be : it was easy to travel to central london as well as to the south and the countryside. (free car park in the street in front of the house !) We would like to recommend your place and would like to thank you for your welcome and your help during our stay. :-) Next time we will stay in London, we will come back to your wonderful explorer's rest !! Thank's from us four ! Yanouchka, Luca, Emma and Noam from Switzerland, Geneva

Amazing stay in London area!

My husband and I stayed in this wonderful home for a week. Every detail was just like in the pictures- from the lovely garden to the space saving kitchen to the artfully finished bedrooms. What the pictures cannot tell you is that Krista is a fantastic host! She has everything in her home labelled for ease of use; binders of maps and information; movies to watch and cd's to listen to- and Oyster cards to help us get on the train and tube! No hotel would ever do so much. The area around this home is convenient and the people are friendly. Greenwich itself was beautiful to explore and London was about a 20-30 minute transit trip away. This is the 4th time we have booked a "home away" spot- they were all great but Krista's attention to comfort, care and convenience makes this our #1 choice! Bravo- and can't wait to return!

It was lovely to meet you! Enjoy the rest of your summer holidays... All the best, Krista

Awesome, look forward to return visit!!!

To date we have stayed at Krista's on three seperate occassions and look forward to our next visit- Such a clean, cosy, comfy spot with easy access to the center of London or the countryside. She has great books and brocheurs that had us exploring places not on our list. Unlike other homes we have stayed, she had personal notes with extra information that made it so easy to know how to get everywhere easily. Maybe it is because she likes to travel herself, but she seems to know what visitors need. Just make sure you leave time at the end of the day to enjoy a nice wine in front of the fireplace. Also, I'm a morning person so loved taking my first coffee and a book into the garden- this time we had exceptional weather so 6:30 every morning that was my spot while my husband, the "chef" had fun creating our English breakfast. Great that the local "shops" are so handy and have everything you need!! Overall, delightful!!!!

Cute place, far from London...

The house is well maintained and you can tell the owners put a lot of thought into making it comfortable for visitors. The special touches like a welcome basket with a note as well as taking the time to spread Easter eggs over the house (since it was Easter time) for the kids was very lovely. Just a note to those wanting to travel to London centre for the tourist attractions, this place is quite far away. It took us 2.5 hours just to get there from the airport (the Piccadilly line was closed and it was rush hour). It also took us a minimum of 53 minutes to get anywhere near London centre. With three exhausted kids after a day of sightseeing this was a bit frustrating. Downtown Royal Greenwich is also a 20 minute bus ride. The reviews about it being so close to everything is definitely misleading.
Réponse de VrboOwner le 1 juil. 2022
What a shame this was your experience! I can only imagine it's because you arrived in London when St. Patrick's Day fell on Easter so the city was rammed. Not to mention, the Tube from Heathrow was, most unfortunately, not running when you arrived. What a headache! Sadly, with such an extensive transport network, this happens from time to time. Luckily, we have multiple transport options between my house and central London (bus, Tube, DLR, train, boat) so if one is down there is always another route to take. That said, even if transport had gone swimmingly well for you, had you contacted me prior to booking, I most certainly would have suggested you consider something in zones 1 or 2 (my house is in zone 4), as you were coming only for three nights and had a lot of attractions you wanted to visit in a very short space of time. In my opinion, my house is really best suited for those staying 5 or more nights and are happy to aim for 1-3 attractions per day, as travel from my front door to most attractions, given standard bus and Tube wait times is likely to take 45 minutes to an hour...though I personally find the time passes quickly, as there is so much of interest to see en route, especially if you travel by DLR, high above the city. But again, for the benefit of future guests, if you are only visiting London for a few nights, you will get the most from your visit by choosing a property in zones 1 or 2, which are the central part of the city where most attractions are located. My house is best suited to those who are happy to head out for the day, but then want to return home to a safe, quiet, and peaceful residential area to recoup after a hectic day in the noise and bustle of central London.

The Perfect Way To Spend A London Holiday!

If you’re looking for a welcoming home to stay at during your London Holiday, look no further. As travelers who prefer to immerse ourselves in the culture we visit, Explorer’s Rest was the perfect place to stay during our travels in London. This lovely home—situated in a charming neighborhood in Greenwich—provides travelers with the care and comfort of a relaxing and beautiful Victorian flat. Explorer’s Rest itself is lovely and enchanting. Throughout the picturesque home, we found helpful books, notebooks, and pamphlets on how to travel around London, as well as information on where to eat, shop, and explore the city. Additionally, small labels are located around the flat, which permitted us to navigate throughout the house easily. Books, DVD’s, and televisions filled the home, which enabled us to relax and enjoy our surroundings—especially after a busy day in London! Staying at Explorer’s Rest allowed us to spend quality time together. As we reflected on our adventures in the city, we enjoyed a nice meal, and a relaxing cup of tea around the kitchen table. Furthermore, Krista’s kindness and wealth of knowledge is what truly made our journey to London special. One could not ask for a better place.

My dreams came to life here!

I can not say enough about this home away from home - except I didn't want to go home! Beyond the cleanliness, and beauty of the space, the feeling you get when you walk through the doors and throughout the rooms is what I have remembered most. The owner of the home has clearly filled this home with love, personality, and life. The location is perfect - a few minutes from the tube, a market, shops, and close to local pubs if you're looking for a pint :) The owner of the home was absolutely lovely; friendly, warm, and generous are just three words I would use to describe her. If you are looking for a breath of fresh air, this is the vacation spot for you - if you are looking for adventure and want a relaxing space to come home to - this is it. If you want tranquility, and to just relax with a book - take another look at that fireplace and garden; you've found it. The couch goes perfectly with a glass of wine, and the tub is great when filled with bubbles :) From one traveller to another - don't miss out on this opportunity, because you'll never know what you've missed! I can't WAIT to go back!!! If you want to Do, See, and Live the Dream... you can stop dreaming and start living your own reality in this beautiful home away from home :)

the best holiday ever

We are a family with two boys; we have spent in the house two fantastic weeks in July 2011. The property is absolutely perfect regarding everything. It's clean and tidy. You can find all you need since it's truly well organized. The house is extremely pleasant and the furniture is new and lovely. The garden is relaxing, well-kept and very nice. The location is fantastic; you can reach London easily but near the house there are shops and supermarkets, so that you can buy whatever you like. The neighbourhood is peaceful and safe; it's also good for children since you just have to cross the street and you find amazing enormous parks with enchanting trees. The property is definitely charming and the best thing is that you can experience living as English people do. This means that if you like travelling and learn different way of living you should experience a holiday with no hotels. You can reach the airports easily with no stress. The owner is kind, friendly and always prompt in providing you of everything you could ever need. I strongly recommend this property to anyone who wants to spend the most incredible holiday ever! We left there a part of our heart... Friendship we have found is even better than the best house we have ever rent.

Cristina and Stefano, it was wonderful to meet you! I loved our evening of pasta making - and I now know it must be rustica - not how I've always been making it!!! :-) We'll see you in Genova like you suggest - and certainly next summer when you come back. Keep in touch! Krista and Erik.

Actually six stars would be necessary here

If you ever plan to visit London, you must stay at the Explorer's Rest. It's the ideal place for young or old couples or families with small children or with teenagers or groups of friends or just everybody. The pretty house is located in a nice street in a quiet area and was extraordinarily clean when we arrived. Everything is small and cosy. You've got two floors, with two separate bedrooms; and, if you want, you can also put an extra bed. Though the two people sleeping in the two double-beds should be well acquainted in each case since they are not very big/wide - but really beautiful. The whole house it very neatly furnished with a lot of taste and dedication. You will find everything you need in the kitchen; besides there is a dishwasher and a washing machine; and don't forget the cute garden! In the living room the London explorer can rest near a fireplace in the evening. We left our car parked in front of the house the whole week and went by bus, tube or train to all the sights. In the nearby surroundings one can find a bakery and all other kinds of shops but also restaurants to go to within walking distance. The owner has provided with an abundance of information in order to be able to explore London and its surroundings in the most extensive way possible. We can highly recommend this Home.

Home away from home

If you are like me and deciding between a couple of properties with a family, go no further and choose this apartment! We are a family of 5 (with 3 teens) and we had our own room and the kids had their room with a double bed to share and the eldest had a mattress. The instructions Krista gave were so great when arriving into a city you don't know, we followed them very closely. It took us 1.5 hours to get here in rush hour traffic from Heathrow on the tubes and then a 10 minute bus to the place in Greenwich. Entry was seamless with a key code given to us via email. This apartment was like a home away from home, there was everything you needed, washing machine, dryer, hair dryer, full kitchen with a lovely selection of teas and coffee, some lovely soap and body sprays etc. It is on a quiet street and only 3 minutes walk to a shop that sells milk and other essentials. There is a larger shopping centre 2 bus stops away (about 5 min by bus). The Woolwich Arsenal train station has connections to the DLR and underground and is a 10 minute bus ride away. I also noted there was free parking for a car out on the street if you needed it. The house was also decorated for Christmas which the kids loved, its all these little touches that make this a home away from home.

Perfect spot to explore London

Explorer's rest is the perfect spot to explore London and the Greater London Area. Situated in a quiet Victorian neighbourhood in Greenwich, it might seem a bit far from London's tourist attractions at first. But apart from the fact that Explorer's rest has a lot to offer in itself, it isn't actually that far from the city centre. Only a 2 min. walk to a bus-stop, then a 10 min. busride gets you to Woolwhich Arsenal, a transport hub from where you can take a train or the Docklands Light Railway (DLR) into London. And that is only a 20 min. ride, with lots to be seen along the way. The house itself isn't vey large but it's perfectly charming and extremely well kept. It sleeps 4 persons very comfortable (we were with 4: two adults and 2 15-year olds). Krita Vesey is a generous host. Lots of things are provided: books and dvd's (there are 2 televion sets with dvd-players), cd's, and there is a more than generously equipped kitchen. And another very large plus: we found it very interesting indeed to live for a week among average Londoners, in stead of just mingling with the tourist-folk. Near to the house are some convenient shops like a bakery and a grocery. A well-stocked supermarket is only a 5 min. walk away. The is also a pub closeby, as well as a nice park. Imagine travelling into London, seeing all the sights and doing everything else Londonish and after that just go home and make yourself a quiet dinner in stead of having to hunt half the evening for a decent restaurant! We will certainly return, and recommend Traveler's Rest to all that are looking for an unusual way to explore London.

Beautiful home, full of character!

This was our second stop on our 3 week tour of Ireland and the UK in March 2016. First off - Krista is simply AMAZING. She is a very genuine and caring person, and gladly helped us with our questions (we had SO many questions as this was our first time in London.) When we arrived she had a welcome basket with homemade treats, maps/brochures to EVERYTHING we would want to see and even a birthday banner and balloons (we were there on my birthday) and Easter surprise (my 4 year old LOVED the little Easter egg hunt she set up.) She is very meticulous about everything in the home; we had everything we needed to cook and had info about ANYTHING we could think of (near by stores, good eats, bus/train/underground maps etc.) You can tell that this home is a labor or love, it is beautifully decorated, updated and modern yet homey (toys, movies, reusable grocery bags, Oyster cards, not to mention a beautiful yard (British viewers, read: garden) If you get a chance, read the info/photo book about the history of the house and all they've done to it, it's very interesting. The house is just around the corner from a bus stop which was perfect for us - we used public transportation religiously! We never had to wait more than 10 minutes for a bus, train, or the underground (except when the Jubilee line went down... now that was an adventure.) It's close enough to the city center to not feel out of the loop but far enough away that it was a quiet retreat after a long day of sight-seeing. My only regret is that we didn't have a chance to meet Krista and her husband as we were overwhelmed with sight-seeing and had so many early (2am) days. We absolutely loved staying there, and if we ever got the chance to go back to London we would love to stay there again!

A perfect place for Londoner’s experience:

I lived in this house for over a year. I was working in London therefore I rented the house. I must say that living in this house was the highlight of my yearlong stay in London. First of all it is a beautiful Victorian house with two eye catching periods fireplaces. But it is also very modern and well equipped for “London life”. It is also very clean and comfy! To me Kitchen is the centre piece of this house. It is very well stocked and I spent lot of time cooking various continental foods. The garden is the perfect place to chill out!! It is green, colourful and quiet. During the summer I used to have regular barbeque with my friends. We spent some quality times on that garden!! My job in London was quiet stressful and long hours. I always enjoyed having a long shower with the power shower after hard day at work. (By the way the toilet has got automatic seat closer which is handy for a man!!!) The house is situated in a quiet and safe place. The house is close to all amenities. There are Indian, Chinese and traditional English restaurants & pubs nearby. There is also a supermarket within walking distance. More importantly there are some good quality fast food shops (Kebab and Fish & Chips) within close proximity!! Communication with other parts of London is excellent. You can literally hop in to the famous London bus from the next street. Also the train station is quiet close. There are some fabulous parks very near to the house. I used to enjoy flying kites there. I think the house is perfect for someone who wants to have “Londoner’s experience”. I also think that if somebody wants to live in London for few months he/she should seriously consider this house. One more thing, the house is pet friendly. My two rabbits also lived with me on that house and they also recommend the house!!!

Rest easy explorers!

I stayed at Explorers' Rest for two weeks starting at the end of January 2015. Let me first say, that I travel A LOT! I stay in hotels, bed and breakfasts, vacation rentals all over the U.S. and the world, so I've experienced the ups and downs of travel accommodations. For my first trip to England, I wanted to live like a local and not a tourist, but I wanted to also feel like I was living trendy and comfortably. Explorers' Rest embodies exactly what I wanted! The house is nestled in the friendly neighborhood of Plumbstead Commons inside Greenwich. The neighbors and locals are the nicest people, and you almost immediately feel like you're a treasured neighbor when you pass them on the street. The house itself, is efficiently arranged and meticulously designed. Within hours of staying, you fall right into the feeling that you've been living there for years and the house becomes more of a home to you then just some stay. It's eclectic for sure, but I imagine that anyone from a businessman to a family would find it ideal. Finally, and most importantly, is the owner, Krista. I've stayed at VRBOs before, and have had wonderful owners, but Krista treats you like a long-time friend! She arranges notes and directions for you all over the house to help you acquaint yourself with the surroundings. Not only that, but she's AMAZINGLY quick on the draw when it comes to e-mail correspondence, even going as far as to keep you up-to-date with the local news (while I was there, the buses and rail systems went on strike and she would tell me via e-mail from Sweden before I even knew myself!). My girlfriend joined me for the second week of my travel in the UK, and she too fell in love with the design and layout! So, if you're like me, and you're sitting there weighing your options on where you should stay (like I was) and you just can't make up your mind...let me help you...CHOOSE THIS ONE! I promise you, the only thing you'll have to worry about is dealing with your disappointment for leaving it at the end of your stay. Cheers!

I'm SOOOOO pleased you had such a fantastic stay! I hope I'll get a chance to meet you and Kathleen one day; I was sad not to be in London during your stay. Best, Krista

Just magical!

My boyfriend and I had never rented a 'holiday home' before and then someone suggested it to us for London since it's a LOT cheaper than hotels there. We loved it! We spent two absolutely amazing weeks here to celebrate our two year anniversary and it was beyond wonderful! Initially we thought about staying right in the center of London, but chose here because we loved its character and because we wanted to have our own garden (which is kind of hard to find in London). We're so glad we did! London really is quite busy and noisy so it was wonderful to start and end our days with a real sense of relaxation and green space. I loved it all but I think the best bit was the fireplace in the bedroom. It was SOOOO romantic! Even though it was sort of spring, we curled up in bed next to the fire every night. Now that we're home again I really miss it. It was such a treat! We had coffee in the garden every morning and most nights I soaked in the tub with candlelight. We didn't know London when we arrived so were worried about getting around but it was simple! Instead of getting a bus to the train station (only takes a few minutes), we walked since it was so peaceful strolling through the park and beside the Victorian homes. It was so lovely to stay in a true 'home' that has such a warm, welcoming vibe. My boyfriend isn't exactly the romantic type, but staying here really brought that out in him. It was just so special! It really was the perfect place to stay for our anniversary. I let the owner know when we booked why we were coming and she even had a special welcome pack for us to help us celebrate! It was just so lovely. We'll definitely stay here again and I've already recommended it to friends of mine who are going later this year. Oh, and the owner told us about cheap flights from City Airport (it's like 20 minutes away) so we even managed to get to Amsterdam for a couple of nights while we were there. The whole experience was just so magical for our anniversary! I totally recommend staying here! No hesitations! You'll love it!

Catherine, you're far too kind! But yes, when I used to live in my home, I LOVED having a fire in the evenings in my bedroom too. I'm so pleased your anniversary was lovely and it's nice that staying here brought out your boyfriend's romantic side. :-) I think it's the garden and digging potatoes that mine enjoyed most when we lived there. All the best in love and life, Krista.

My name is Krista, and I am the long-time owner and lover of Explorers’ Rest. Originally from Canada, I moved to the UK in 2002 and instantly fell in love with the character and history of Royal Greenwich. In 2005, I found this Victorian home—a little worn, a little forgotten, yet full of potential—and knew it was meant to be mine.

When I received the keys in early 2006, I walked inside, sat down on the floor, and cried - not out of regret, but out of the sheer scale of what lay ahead.

At twenty-seven, on a young teacher’s salary, I had bought the only home I could afford in the neighbourhood I loved… and it needed everything. I didn’t yet know how to plaster a wall, handle a drill, or manage a renovation, but I was determined to bring this beautiful house back to life.

Over the next several years, I rebuilt Explorers’ Rest piece by piece, supported by skilled friends and trusted professionals. What began as a daunting project slowly transformed into the charming, warm, and thoughtfully restored sanctuary it is today.

It holds my history (and that of those for more than a century before me!), my creativity, and my heart—and every detail reflects that.

When you step inside, I hope you feel the care and the quiet peace that fills this home. I’ve even left a photo album for you to enjoy, sharing the “before, during, and after” journey of its transformation.

A few years later, I moved in with my husband, Erik, a South African IT specialist who had also made London his home. As we began our life together, I wasn’t sure what to do with this house that meant so much to me. Because we both love travelling and staying in beautifully cared-for homes, I decided to open Explorers’ Rest to guests. Within days of listing it, bookings poured in—and hosting quickly became one of the joys of my life.

I look forward to meeting you!

Pourquoi avoir choisi cet hébergement ?

Greenwich is a truly unique corner of London—close enough to embrace everything the city offers, yet peaceful enough to feel worlds away.

My little pocket of Greenwich, Plumstead Common, is, in my opinion, one of its rarest gems. The Common itself unfolds north of Explorers’ Rest and seamlessly connects to Winn’s Common, Rockcliffe Gardens, East Wickham Open Space, and the ancient beauty of Bostall Heath and Woods.

To the south, you’ll find Shrewsbury Park, Shooters Hill Golf Club, and the vast and historic Oxleas Woods - creating a continuous landscape of greenery that feels almost rural.

Surrounded by vast, varied parks, the area offers an exceptional expanse of walking and cycling paths, comparable to countryside rambling - yet we remain just ten minutes from a major transport hub with two Tube lines, a riverboat service, trains, and an extensive bus network.

The neighbourhood itself is warm and welcoming. Neighbours are friendly, gardens are generously sized, street parking is free, and - perhaps the greatest luxury of all - it is blissfully silent at night.

After a full day in Central London, returning home here feels deeply restorative. You’ll be greeted by leafy parks, foxes crossing paths at dusk, birdsong drifting through the morning air, and quiet gardens that invite you to slow down. The surrounding neighbourhoods, once distinct villages of charming Victorian homes, have been gracefully woven into London’s landscape as the city expanded.

I also love how effortlessly I can slip into true countryside from here. While I adore London’s vibrant heart, there is always a sense of calm and comfort when I return to the serenity of my Greenwich retreat at the end of each day.

I hope you too will find that this home and its surroundings invite the explorer in you to exhale, unwind, and settle into a deep and peaceful rest.

Quels sont les atouts de cet hébergement ?

Creating a beautiful, welcoming space is one of my passions. I love selecting thoughtful touches, small comforts, and little surprises to make your stay memorable. I also enjoy connecting with guests, sharing recommendations, and helping you craft a holiday that feels personal, effortless, and special.

One of the rare luxuries of staying at Explorers’ Rest is the peace and quiet. Situated outside the busy tourist centre, there are no flight paths overhead, and the neighbourhood rests in calm silence at night - perfect for deep, restorative sleep. The private garden is equally tranquil, offering a serene spot to unwind, enjoy a cup of tea, or have your own picnic amidst greenery during the spring and summer months.

Practical comforts make your stay effortless: free parking right outside the door, shops just steps away, parks in every direction, and a bus stop around the corner provides convenient access to the rest of London without needing a car.

Inside, my home’s character shines through in features guests consistently love: the deep vintage metal bathtub, perfect for a soothing soak, and the gorgeous fireplace that creates a warm, cosy atmosphere for quiet evenings at home.

London has its rainy days, so I’ve thoughtfully stocked the house with some books, a new Smart TV, and a puzzle with puzzle board, ensuring even a stay-at-home afternoon feels enjoyable and relaxing.

Above all, each room exudes a gentle, enveloping energy to help you breathe, settle, and truly rest after days of exploring this remarkable city.
