Holly Cottage is a beautifully presented, large 18th Century detached cottage set in one of the most popular villages in the North York Moors National park. This stone built cottage offers spacious accommodation and is a lovely family home with every home comfort you should need. On the ground floor there is a spacious sitting room with wood burning stove, enough comfortable seating for 8 guests and double doors leading into the enclosed garden which has beautiful views over the village. This leads to a large garage and drive with plenty of room to park 2 cars.
There is a very large kitchen with breakfast bar, stools, range cooker and a 2 seater settee. The dining room is spacious with a beautiful table and 6 chairs and a bench for 3 people. There is a downstairs cloakroom with toilet and wash hand basin and a spacious hall which leads into a large snug with a cosy settee and desk. The first flight of stairs leads to the first twin bedroom with double aspect windows overlooking the valley and village. The next bedroom is also a twin room with beautiful views over the valley. There is a large bathroom on this floor with a separate shower and roll top bath and a large double bedroom with a four poster bed and an ensuite bathroom with shower, toilet and basin. There is also a flat screen TV in this room. The second flight of stairs leads you to the second floor attic room where there is a very large double bedroom with superb views across the village and valley.
Hutton-le hole is situated in one of the most picturesque villages in the North York Moors National Park. This beautiful village has various gift shops, a chocolate shop, craft shop, many tea rooms, and a newly refurbished pub which serves great food and all within a few minutes walk from the cottage. There is also an award winning museum in the heart of the village which is well worth a visit. Many visitors spend summer days with a picnic by the stream.
Holly Cottage is furnished and decorated to a very high standard and is the perfect retreat for families and friends to relax and enjoy the village and surrounding areas. Free wifi also included for those that need it!
Lovely spacious cottage with lots of space for our family of 4 plus grandparents. Off street parking. Pub and breakfast/lunch options all less than 5 mins walk. Museum of rural life also worth a visit. Property managers were responsive to a couple of requests we had pre visit.
Fantastic character property, and everything you could need in a kitchen.
Lovely housekeeper - very helpful, and friendly.
Super location!
Thank you so much for a lovely stay!
Lovely spacious cottage very clean and welcoming
Ideal location to explore the north York moors with some great pubs nearby, we would definitely recommend this property
Holly Cottage was the perfect stay for our family of 8 for Christmas. The house gave us more than enough space and the village is beautiful. There are many walks and lovely country pubs to visit nearby. Weâd love to stay again one time.
Holly Cottage is a wonderful home from home. Everything you could need is provided, lots of space for everyone and a brilliant garden thatâs was full secure for our little dog.
Steps away from the moors with great walks from the doorstep.
Would recommend to anyone looking for a country getaway. Canât wait to go back!
Beautiful, spacious cottage. Ideal for a family weekend away. Set in a gorgeous village (can highly recommend the food in the pub). The cottage had everything we needed and was immaculate. I would definitely visit again.
A lovely cottage, old fashioned and quirky in places yet modern kitchen and fixtures, good light and airy bedrooms with comfortable beds (slept well).
Tempremental signal for mobile phones - you may regard this as a bonus.
Good walking locally and decent pub nearby.
Holly Cottage didn't disappoint. Looks fantastic in the pictures and is just as nice in reality. The kitchen in particular is a great space but whole house has a nice relaxing feel. Very clean and well maintained. Hutton le Hole is a great base for the Moors and coast. Good walks from the village. Crown serves superb Sunday roast! Highly recommended.
Holly Cottage is a mix of old and new with plenty of space for 7 adults who went to walk and catch up with each other. The photos donât quite do it justice. Kitchen is large and has absolutely everything you may need. Heated floor lovely in the winter. The lounge has an easy to light log burner, so make sure you use it.We didnât move the cars once we arrived, as so many beautiful walks right from the front door.A 2 minute walk to the village pub The Crown, serving really good food and the staff were very friendly and welcoming so ate here twice. Highly recommend staying at Holly Cottage and we will definitely return either with family or friends.
Holly Cottage is a well equipped cottage, with everything you could need, in a very typical pretty Yorkshire village.
Very comfortable, and a good wood burner in the sitting room, making it cosy, although the kitchen area was also so nice we spent a lot of time in there too. Very comfortable beds in good sized bedrooms too.
Hutton Le Hole is a pretty village, with easy access to good roads for travel to the coast and York, but with plenty to do in the immediate area too, including Castle Howard being only 20 minutes or so away.
The moors are only a step away from the cottage, making dog walks a pleasure, and the local pub is good, I can recommend their Sunday lunch!
We travelled as a 3 generation family, and it was perfect for all of us, even our dog.
We would like to return in the future and hope that the next time we visit it has stopped raining!
What can i say the most amazing cottage ..spacious, beautiful kitchen truly the hub of the house ..beautifully maintained with a spacious dog friendly garden ..everything provided for quality family time ..Cottage is in prime position in this beautiful village.. We were lucky enough to be able to take part in the annual fund raising duck race ..and enjoy the hospitality at the local pub where you receive a friendly welcome and gorgeous food..There's lots of beautiful places to visit on your doorstep or little further afield but me and my family were happy to enjoy being together at this lovely property..Thankyou clclise to all amenities
We loved our stay at Holly Cottage, the kitchen is fabulously equipped, and house has a welcoming friendly decor. The kitchen and snug is a fabulous place to gather and where we spent a lot of our time.
Parking at the property was easy, and plenty of room for our 2 cars - but with a car park just around the corner it would be easy with more vehicles.
Lovely base to explore so many interesting places.
Local cafe just acroos the road was great for bread and milk supplies. Nothing not to love at the cottage. like. more cars. jutst
It was better than even described and the perfect idea of a Yorkshire cottage. We have been visitors to the area for over 30 years and the cottage is well kept, clean, cozy and in an ideal location. And the host was easy to access whenever we needed anything (like showing us how to work the fireplace, etc).
8 of us (4 adults and 4 children under 10 years) stayed here for 4 nights over New Year.
Pros
- Large, bright, modern kitchen with under floor heating and plenty kitchenware.
- EV charging and parking for 2 large cars
- Large living room with log burner
- 4 good sized bedrooms, 1 with ensuite.
- Downstairs toilet
- Good sized dining room with seating for 6-8 people
- Great location in the heart of Hutton le Hole
- nice welcome gifts on arrival - thank you.
Cons
- Check in time of 1700 is really too late. I've never stayed at another property with such a late check in. It makes things a challenge arriving with 4 young children in late December
- the downstairs snug area appeared to have some form of leak/condensation problem - from arrival part of the rug was sopping wet and stayed this way for the majority of the stay (water was coming up from the tiles). This must have been known before our stay as there are water stains in the room and other mats down to mask the issue.
- on the 3rd night we lost power to the sockets in the living (same side of house as wet snug area - suspect there's a problem with water ingress on that side of house). The host did respond when we raised this and suggested we speak to housekeeper about running another cable into room.
- lots of condensation/damp on windowsill in bedroom on same side of house. Not ideal to have a sopping wet flannel on the windsill with a note advising of condensation.
Other points
- check out of 0930 would have meant a very early start but the host kindly offered a later checkout when we asked.
Magnificent stay in a lovely cottage in a friendly small village
We, two adult parents, stayed for a week in this lovely cottage with our three children and their partners (7 in Total) and were really happy. We felt at home. Great kitchen, well equipped, and even a TV in the kitchen, in the living room and in the bedroom to watch the World Championships soccer. Best pub nearby where we had âSunday lunchâ (roast beef and Yorkshire pudding). Great surroundings. The rain was sometimes heavy, but did not bother us really. Good contacts with the owners about small problems that we encountered.
This is a lovely cottage. It is exactly as advertised. All the rooms are very clean and inviting. Very spacious. It was an ideal place to spend my special birthday with friends. I would definitely stay again and have no hesitation in recommending it to other people. The village is lovely. It's an ideal base to explore further afield.
Loved this property so much last year we decided to book it again. It's in a beautiful spot and the cottage has everything we needed. The sun shone so we could enjoy the garden đ
We had lovely stay at Holly Cottage. The property is well equipped and the owner/housekeeper were both easy to contact. I highly recommend this to any family looking for a holiday in North Yorkshire.
The cottage is full of character, spacious and comfortable, with everything we needed to enjoy our stay. Itâs located close to the very friendly pub and other local amenities. Hutton-le-Hole is the prettiest of places and an excellent location for exploring the moors, local towns and villages and the coast. Weâre hoping for a return visit!
Holly cottage definitely exceeded our expectations for our family weekend break. You definitely can not ask for anything more than what was provided. We, as a family, shall certainly be looking to return in the very near future.
The cottage is beautiful and very well stocked, the village pub serves beautiful food and the owners are very welcoming. We had three teenagers and the area was a bit too quiet for them but go ape and flamingo land were a short drive away and it meant the dog had lots of long walks and the Mums had a lot of piece and quiet. The communication with the owner was very good and any issues would be sorted very quickly. The garden is enclosed so the dog could play out without worrying she would escape. A lovely week was had by all.
Liz and Gary bought Holly Cottage in the year 2000 after holidaying in Hutton-le-Hole when Liz was a child and wanting to bring her own children to the village that she loved. They still use Holly Cottage as many times a year as possible with their children, friends and family.
We bought Holly Cottage in January 2000. This was our project for the new millennium! There was a lot of work to be done so we got to work renovating it and managed to complete all the work in 7 months. We then started letting it and have done since July 2000 and have continued updating the cottage with decoration and furniture every year. We holiday ourselves in Holly Cottage as often as we can and still love spending as much time there as possible. We have recently had an extension which has a new kitchen. We have turned our old kitchen into a snug and office.
Beautiful location overlooking the village and valleys. Holly Cottage is even featured on postcards sold in the village. Very spacious and warm - perfect for coming home to after a day exploring.
