I did not think this place could live up to its billing: it looked so amazing, perched on the edge of a cliff in dramatic scenery, all by itself. But in fact, it was even better than I could have hoped. The views are dramatic, the house is cool and spacious, and the atmosphere idyllic. There were 15 in our party and we all fitted in. The owner volunteered to move beds around for us to get the sleeping configurations right. We cooked our own meals and found all the equipment we needed to make feast after feast. There is plenty of shade and plenty of sun - you can choose what you want for your meals. There is even room for 15 to eat inside if that is what you need. There are plenty of spaces to escape to for a quiet read, and plenty of spaces to be together having fun. The hot tub is a particular delight - so amazing to luxuriate there, with the birds and countryside as your companions. You are away from the crowds but it does not feel lonely. The house is very easy to find, and furnished and equipped so thoughtfully that you feel at home. The only downside is that it is almost impossible to leave. Thoroughly recommended. We all loved it.
The house, at its origin, residence of the sharecroppers and a part of it, place of storage for the seasonal agricultural produce and also shelter for the facilities and the tools used for the cultivation of the land, is located in an unique position, on a rocky spur, over the famous rupestral construction of the so-called âCastelloâ (The Castle) of Cava dâIspica. The house was built in 1954 by my grandfather and was meant to provide decent life conditions to the countryside peasants which used to live inside the rocky caverns of the so called âCastelloâ even in the early post second world war period. In 2007 I decided to renovate the house cause I love this amazing place immersed in nature: no noise, just relax!
