Lovely cottage in a good location, made to feel welcome on arrival
Great cottage for a new year break, plenty warm enough. Kitchen well equipped with a nice bathroom and good sized bedrooms. All beds except one were comfy. Good location for a get away break, note on booking page to say no facilities in walking distance would be useful for planning your visit but didn't affect our enjoyment
We really enjoyed our time in the North Cornwall area. The beaches are less touristy than most of Cornwall. They are more spectacular too.
Ruffcott had everything we needed for our stay. Maybe not the highest luxury but real charm and the owners' obviously care about the place.
Looking forward to returning.

We had a lovely week here. It is in a brilliant position, you can easily get to most of the best places in Cornwall within an hourâs drive. Nearby is the lovely beach of Trebarwith and the Mill House Inn, a fantastic local pub next to the beach. We particularly enjoyed the Thursday steak night with a local blues band!! There are also some lovely walks from the cottage itself, through the local woods. It is a real haven to come back to; clean and warm and very peaceful.
Excellent value. Well equipped. Lovely old character cottage.
A bit off the beaten track but not too far to some great beaches and other attractions. Lounge lighting was a bit idiosyncratic and we never did manage to get the one over the dining table to work.
We had a great few days exploring the coast of North Cornwall. This sweet cottage is such an escape. We slept like logs in the quiet hamlet. Great pubs within a short drive and blustery cliff walks are what we love about this part of the world. The beaches are exciting without the kiss me quick feel you get in some areas. Highly recommended. G.W.
We enjoyed our three nights in Ruffcott...a very characterful, comfortable and cosy cottage. Lovely to have milk and wine left for us. Recommend eating at Surfside on Polzeath beach for casual dining, good service and very good food! V disappointing meal at the White Hart down the road. The cottage is in a good location for countryside and coast walks...9 miles from cottage to Tredogget and along the cliffs and back - we all slept well that night!
The cottage was clean and homely. Equipment was not super modern, but it is more than sufficient and allows you to cook wherever your heart desires.
The cottage is located in a small hamlet, so you need to drive to get to the nearest shop or pub. The roads surrounding the cottage are typical for the region, and you need to backtrack if a car comes your way. For some reason, a few huge tractors and trucks were storming up and down the road all day long, but otherwise, the traffic was relatively low.
Overall we had a very good stay in this cottage.
Admittedly we had good weather with more sunshine than we've ever seen in February. Even so this charming cottage made our stay in North Cornwall ever so we welcoming and extremely cosy particularly with the beautiful wood burner. The cottage gave us great access to some of the best beaches in Cornwall. Trebarwith Strand being dramatic and beautiful at the same time.
Our host, Steven, answered all our questions with an obvious passion for the area. We highly recommend this cottages for a romantic get away or a small family.

The cottage was quirky and comfortable. It had everything we needed and was close to all the places we wanted to visit. Even with an adventurous 11-month-old it was an ideal retreat. Steven was an attentive host and the cottage was well supplied so we didn't need to worry about everyday items such as washing and dishwashing. The kitchen was small but well equipped. Thnak you Steven :)
Stephen was really helpful during the booking process and whilst there, he checked in on us to see how we were getting on which was a lovely touch. The cottage was beautiful and really clean and tidy when we arrived. The beds were some of the most comfortable we have ever stayed in. The fireplace was a lovely and we enjoyed using it in the evenings. Cute little kitchen and having a dishwasher was great as we cooked most evenings to save money on going out every night. Lovely touches of board games there which we enjoyed playing as a family. TV downstairs and in 1 of the bedrooms was great and could access Netflix and you tube which with a teenager in tow was handy. Great location near by to most of the major tourist places in North Cornwall. Trebawith strand beach was a 10 minute drive and was stunning with a lovely little cafe there. We would definitely book this cottage again and will recommend
Ruffcott was absolutely delightful. My family and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this lovely cosy place. Its well located with many towns a short car journey away or you can enjoy pleasant walks with access to footpaths very close by.
The owner was very informative, providing us with all the information we needed to ensure we visited wonderful beaches and great pubs.
We recommend this property to a couple or small family that likes a quiet location but doesn't mind a short drive to busier places. Thank you
An attractive cottage in a small hamlet outside Delabole. The cottage is well equipped and the owner very helpful, particularly prior to our stay. There are quite a few things that need to be repaired at the cottage and due to the weather at times we struggled to get things dry as the cottage was rather damp. But this did improve in our second week when the sun came out! The outside space is rather disappointing (a small area under some trees opposite the house and next to where you park the car) and the parking itself ( up a small ramp) is not for the faint hearted. However, the location is peaceful and near lots of great beaches. Thanks Steven for the tip about Tregadock - it was beautiful.
Off the beaten track, in a quiet village but close to local beaches and attractions. Despite stormy weather we had a great time in this cosy, well equipped cottage.
We had a comfortable and cosy 2 week stay. It's a great location for exploring the north Cornwall coast and beaches. Steven was on hand to answer questions before and during the stay.
Loved this atmospheric, cosy cottage tucked away near Delabole. Only 5 mins from the main A39 road but perfectly secluded in a small valley. Clean and comfortable, with a small but well equipped kitchen. Quiet and peaceful in the evenings. Both we and our early rising young boys appreciated the Amazon Firestick! Large collection of DVDs for film buffs too. Ruffcott is in a perfect location for the beaches near Padstow, just a 20 min drive away. Owners had a couple of great recommendations for other less well-known beaches too. Overall a great experience, would definitely recommend.
Ruffcott is a beautiful little cottage, very well equipped and was perfect for our needs for a couple of days away. It has everything you need. Plenty to see and do in the area (although the roads are not for the faint-hearted). Loved it.
We had a great stay in this lovely cottage. We felt home from the moment we've entered and it was a great starting point for us to discover the Cornwall area. We would book it again if we're visiting Cornwall again in the future!
We had an amazing week in Cornwall at this property. A cosy 2 bedroom cottage provided the perfect base for us as we love Trebarwith Strand beach and it was only a short drive. We only had one rainy day and it was lovely to have such a nice base to be able to spend some time. A bottle of wine greeted us which was a surprise and the handy hints around the property made navigating how everything worked nice and easy.
Would definitely recommend!
We are Steven and Polly Kelynack. We bought Ruffcott in 2003 and have had many fabulous times here with our daughter and friends.
Being Cornish with a very Cornish name we have always had an affinity with Cornwall, with family roots all over Cornwall down to the town of Kelynack near Land's End.
