Le Domaine de la Barre est l'escapade parfaite, il offre une belle retraite pour se détendre et profiter de la belle campagne française tout en étant à proximité de tous les lieux d'intérêt. Le gîte est détaché de la propriété des propriétaires donnant un sentiment d'intimité mais l'assurance que les propriétaires sont à proximité si nécessaire. Récemment rénovée, la propriété offre un haut niveau d'hébergement et bénéficie d'une grande terrasse privée avec une vue imprenable sur la piscine et la campagne environnante. N'hésitez pas à utiliser la grande piscine, la terrasse couverte, la cuisine d'été, les vastes jardins et la campagne au-delà. Il y a aussi un grand parking pour les voitures. Localement, vous avez le choix entre de nombreux restaurants raffinés, des visites, des sports nautiques, du golf et d'autres activités, sans oublier la célèbre ville de Carcassonne et le canal du midi rendu célèbre par les aventures de Rick Stein. Le Domaine de la Barre est à seulement 25 minutes de l'aéroport de Carcassonne et à deux pas de nombreux sites culturels et historiques fascinants. Si vous êtes intéressé par l'histoire, vous pouvez visiter les châteaux cathares et les monuments de la région et en apprendre davantage sur son passé intrigant.
Nous avons le magnifique Lac Montbel à proximité où vous pouvez nager ou profiter des sports nautiques proposés, les pédalos avec toboggan sont très amusants! L'équitation est également disponible autour du lac. À seulement 15 minutes de chez nous à Bram se trouve une entreprise de téléski située sur un lac, où vous pouvez faire du ski nautique, c'est un très bon moyen de passer un après-midi. Le lac de Carcassonne offre baignade, sports nautiques, accrobranches et bien sûr le parc gonflable (génial!) il y a donc de quoi vous divertir.
Vous pouvez être sur la plage en moins d'une heure en profitant de l'atmosphère charmante des stations balnéaires françaises ou en vous dirigeant une heure dans la direction opposée, vous pouvez découvrir les Pyrénées et le paysage magnifique des stations de montagne et de leurs villes pittoresques.
La charmante ville médiévale de Mirepoix est à seulement 15 minutes, où vous pouvez trouver d'excellents restaurants et son marché du lundi matin vaut bien une visite.
Pour les amateurs de vin là-bas, Limoux, à seulement 20 minutes est la maison de Blanquette, avec de nombreux bons vignobles locaux à proximité, vous pouvez passer quelques heures à déguster les vins locaux.
Il y a de quoi vous occuper quels que soient vos intérêts et je suis sûr que vous adorerez explorer cette belle partie de la France.

Wonderful stay at Domaine de La Barre

We had a wonderful, relaxing weeks stay at Domaine de La Barre. The setting is idyllic and the gite was exceptionally clean and tidy with everything we could have needed at hand. Our hosts were great and couldn't have been more helpful and friendly. They were extremely knowledgeable on the area, places to visit and recommendations on places to eat. A great place to stay, relax and unwind!

Perfect peace

A beautiful setting for a holiday location that offers peace and quiet alongside stunning views and the opportunity to explore the South of France. Sarah, Kevin and family were perfect hosts offering advice and help when needed without being intrusive. First time in this area and this was a location and gite that we would definitely return to. Following Sarah's advice on places to visit delivered some great days including Lagrasse and rennes le chateau and Carcasonne was everything you would expect.

Wonderful stay in the beautiful countryside

What a wonderful stay we had with Sarah. Communication with Sarah was quick and friendly, and check in was straightforward. The gite was perfectly clean, and so well equiped. They had a travel cot, highchair and all sorts of other bits and bibs for our little ones to enjoy. The setting itself was beautiful, well into the countryside and so peaceful. We loved playing in the gardens and in the pool. Everything was so well kept and cared for. Plenty to see and do in the local area, but car definitely needed to get anywhere. The wifi was patchy on occasion but only to be expected when you’re so rural, and never a problem for us. Would absolutely recommend a stay with Sarah.

Peaceful and relaxing with ideal location

We spent an enjoyable late April break here and can highly recommend the gite as a place to stay and as a location for touring the area. Everything about the site is as described … a lovely balcony area for relaxing / sunbathing / BBQing. A fully equipped kitchen, good shower room, comfortable bedrooms and a living area if you are spending the evening indoors. All modern and spotlessly clean. The pool area looks fabulous and although open in late April only our brave teenagers took the plunge. We can only imagine how wonderful it is when everything has warmed up. There’s plenty of shade by the pool too for those hot days. Domaine De La Barre is in a great location. We came into Toulouse via Easyjet and that’s about 75 mins in the car via the not expensive toll motorway. As we flew in with only so much luggage allowed, it was good to see little extras like picnic blanket and cool bag in the gite. It's not far to so many places you’ll want to visit like Mirepoix, Carcassonne and Montsegur. You can even jump on the railway at Bram if you want to avoid car park hassles at Carcassone.

Beautiful cottage/beautiful setting

Booking a cottage for three weeks is always a gamble and this time it paid off. Domaine De La Barre exceeded our expectations and gave us three glorious weeks of relaxation in beautiful surroundings. Sarah and Kevin keep their property in pristine condition and look after their guests in a very friendly but unobtrusive way. They have thought of everything that might make for a good holiday and even suggested we help ourselves to produce from their kitchen garden and fruit tress. The nearest towns (Fanjeaux, Mirepoix, Bram and Limoux) differ from each other so there always seems to something new to see. Carcassonne is only a 40 minute drive away and, as well as the famous Cite, has a lot to offer with restaurants and shops galore in the lower town. We enjoyed a fair bit of cycling along the old towpaths of the Canal du Midi and also some walks on part of the Chemin St Jaques (look for the scallop shell). Narbonne is only an hour away and is an interesting, busy town with a fantastic indoor market where food is served all day. However……..our little cottage with its lovely garden and swimming pool was just so lovely that some days we just chilled!

Perfect gite, perfect hosts, perfect location.

We have just returned from a fabulous 2 week holiday at Domaine de la Barre. The property was super in every way and we are very picky holidaymakers! The gite is fully equipped with everything you could possibly need and more. There is a beautiful view from the large terrace where you can eat, relax and watch the night sky and the added benefit of the summer kitchen is a real asset. The pool is stunning and is exactly as it looks in the pictures. The gite is quiet and rural with the gorgeous town of Mirepoix only 20 minutes away which has a fantastic market and cafes and restaurants for people watching. During our stay we cycled down the Canal du Midi, kayaked on the Aude, visited Carcassonne, Narbonne, Limoux, Rennes les Chateau, Rennes les Bains and swam in the Mediterranean and lots of rivers and lakes not to mention a stunning day and firework display in Collioure near Spain. There are still lots of places that we never got to see such as the Pyrenees and other historical sites. Our children aged 14 and 11 were never bored and loved the area as much as us. Sarah, Kevin and the boys are wonderful hosts. As others have said, they are perfectly discreet but there if you need them and have some top tips if you ask. The added bonus of enjoying some home grown peppers, beetroot and cucumbers was utterly delicious. We cannot recommend this little spot of paradise more highly. This is a gem of a property in a gem of an area of France.

Fantastisch

Zeer comfortabel huis met een prachtig uitzicht. Het zwembad en de tuin zijn eveneens zeer verzorgd. Er was ook een leuke moestuin waar we gebruik mochten van maken. Hier is echt aan alles gedacht. Praktisch was de buitenkeuken met extra koelkast, maar ook de informatiemap met nuttige tips. De zeer sympathieke gastvrouw Sarah en haar familie zorgden voor een warm welkom, maar bleven voor de rest heel discreet. Dit adres is écht een aanrader.

Découverte et repos en pays cathare

Un gite magnifique, terrasse avec vue sur la piscine ( immense! ) et la campagne environnante, une cuisine extérieure très bien équipée, un très beau jardin et potager en libre accès ( merci pour les légumes). Il faut prendre la voiture pour tous les déplacements mais la région est magnifique, coup de cœur pour la cité de Carcassonne et la visite guidée de Montsegur. Merci à nos hôtes pour cette trés belle semaine. A refaire.

Séjour très agréable

L'hébergement du domaine de La Barre est parfait aussi bien le confort, l'équipement,la propreté, son environnement calme, apaisant concourt à un séjour serein, délassant et à proximité des sites cathares ( Fanjeaux, Mirepoix, Camon, Montsegur...) de belles balades. A beautiful quiet retreat, perfect to get away and relax

Could not rate Sarah’s place higher. We spent a wonderful two weeks in the peace and tranquility of the countryside. The property is clean and well equipped. We particularly enjoyed the terrace and spent many evenings with a beer watching the sunset. The pool is superb with lots of toys, great for two young kids learning to swim. Also enjoyed the outdoor kitchen with BBQ and pizza oven. It was a perfect place to set up base and explore the surrounding area, and we went to the beach, Andorra shopping, wine tasting in the Malpere region, and visited the space museum at Toulouse. Overall, a superb family holiday and would love to return.

Nous avons passé un très bon séjour chez Sarah. Le gite correspond parfaitement aux photos, il est très très calme et bien placé pour rayonner et voir Carcassonne, Toulouse, le canal du midi, les châteaux Cathares et bien plus encore si vous avez du temps.

Top!

Wij waren te gast van 10 tot 24 juli en keerden volledig ontspannen terug. Nette en goed uitgeruste gite. Voldoende schaduwplekjes. Leuke buitenkeuken, gezellig ontbijtterras en mooi groot zwembad. Sarah de gastvrouw is super sympathiek en deelt graag haar info over de bezienswaardigheden in de buurt. Kevin zorgde er elke ochtend voor dat het zwembad netjes was en hun zoontjes zijn ook heel vriendelijk. Wij raden deze plaats zeker aan als je houdt van prachtige vergezichten en je het niet erg vindt om wat afgelegen te verblijven. Wij komen zeker terug!

Late summer last minute holiday

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this lovely part of France. The gîte was well specced, the exclusive use of the summer kitchen was unexpected and great giving us space to store our bikes. Fans are provided in each room to keep cool, a blind on the lounge window would be an idea to help stop the direct sunlight In this space. The pool area is beautiful and serene with absolutely loads of space. Sarah very kindly offered us to help ourselves to any salad and vegetables that were growing which is such a lovely thought. Sarah is friendly and available but totally discreet at same time, a perfect combination.

Super vakantie!

We hebben een fantastische week beleefd in Hounoux. De verblijfplaats was zeer mooi en zeer praktisch. Het huis en het zwembad zijn zeer goed onderhouden. Sarah is een heel attente vriendelijke gastvrouw. In de omgeving valt zeer veel te beleven. Samengevat in één woord: perfect!

Exactly what we wanted!

I do not think I can add or subtract from the excellent reviews that have already been given. Overall, we had a very pleasant week at La Domaine de la Barre. We especially enjoyed the pool which is exactly as it is pictured. We also appreciated Sarah's attentiveness to our needs and responsiveness to our questions. We would definitely stay there again.

Fantastic break. Great property in beautiful surroundings

Lovely property. Everything you could hope for and more. Kids loved the swimming pool right outside. Nice to sit in the summer kitchen and have dinner. Lots of places to visit. Sarah and family great hosts. We will be back!

Tolles Haus! Empfehlung!

Wir haben 2 Wochen in diesem wunderschönen und sehr gut ausgestattetem Haus verbracht. Die Terrasse, der Grill, der Pool, die Außenküche, der Garten sind unschlagbar. Das gesamte Anwesen ist sehr schön und gepflegt und liegt inmitten einer abwechslungsreichen Landschaft. Guter Ausgangspunkt für alle möglichen Aktivitäten! Die Besitzer sind sehr hilfsbereit, liebenswürdig und gleichzeitig diskret. Die beiden Jungs der Familie sind klasse! Wir können einen Aufenthalt hier nur jedem empfehlen!! We spent 2 weeks in this beautiful and very well equipped house. The terrace, the barbecue, the pool, the outdoor kitchen, the garden are unbeatable. The entire property is lovely and well maintained and is surrounded by a varied landscape. Good starting point for all sorts of activities! The owners are very helpful, kind and at the same time discreet. The two boys of the family are great! We strongly recommend this place !!

When we first moved into the property we couldn't believe how peaceful it was, having come from a busy city it was amazing to be able sit outside with a glass of wine surrounded by practical silence - only interrupted occasionally by some birdsong! We feel that Domaine de la Barre gives you the best of both worlds, it offers peace and tranquillity whilst being within easy reach of so many interesting and lovely sites.

The country side surrounding the property is beautiful, with vines and sunflowers surrounding us, all our guests feel completely relaxed here. Spend the day exploring then come back here and relax by the pool or read a book on your terrace whilst watching the sun go down.
