Absolutely loved our time both in the villa and the island of barbados

The property surpassed our expectations m, pictures do not do it justice, there is nothing that you need that is not provided. The house manager (Kay) went above and beyond and was available at all times if we needed her. Words cannot express our amazing stay, fabulous, awesome, comfortable, charming with all the home comfort you will ever need.

OK but not fantastic.

First impressions of the house were great, And it’s a nice house with plenty of space and a good location. Sadly, a number of broken items (incl electrical outlets), dirty kitchen drawers, bin, rusty microwave let it down, as did the fact that the (not mentioned prior) contract we had to sign on arrival stipulated that AC (only available in bedrooms and this along with the contract should be made clear in the property’s listing) could effectively only be used for one hour a night, or additional charges would be somehow determined. This meant our sleep was never comfortable as we (incl 2 kids and a 3 month old) were hot at night.

Great Barbados Vacation

Our all adults family enjoyed a two week holiday at Serenity villa. We especially loved the ocean breeze and the variety of seating options on the veranda. The pool is deep so it is cool and refreshing which is perfect for adults. The villa landscaping attracts butterflies, birds and we were lucky enough to spot green monkeys off in the trees. If you are a birder, I suggest that you bring binoculars. The local beach is perfect for a quiet morning or evening walk and this home is a good location to drive to many lovely beaches-our favorite was enterprise. The host was responsive, the pictures accurate and we would not hesitate to stay here again. Thank you Andrew for sharing your home with us, we had a wonderful time.

Comfortable villa for family or group

The villa is very nice with lots of space for many guests to stay without feeling cramped. The pool is amazing. We were a group of 7 seniors and enjoyed the tranquility of the area. You do however need a vehicle since there isn't much to do or restaurants close by. Roads are not the best so to drive in the dark is sometimes challenging. We had good drivers so it didn't stop us however I could see that as an issue for others. The Villa is well located to be able to visit many sites. We visited Holetown and area, Bathsheba, The Foursquare Rum Distillery and the Hunte's garden as well as many beaches. I would recommend staying in this villa if you want peaceful surrounding and don't mind the driving.

Wonderful Stay

Just returned from an amazing vacation in Barbados and a wonderful stay at Serenity! The house is extremely spacious and our favourite part was the big back porch and the pool area. Spent many lazy afternoons here. The bedrooms are quite large and comfortable. Yes, there is no A/C downstairs as others have mentioned but we found that simply keeping the doors open to the patio brought in a lovely ocean breeze that kept the rooms quite comfortable. Andrew was quick to respond to any booking questions and Kay, the house manager, was so helpful - leading us back from the airport, leading us in to the grocery store, and checking in with us several times during the week to see if anything was needed. Would not hesitate to stay here again!

Lovely villa in a peaceful location

Great comes with the owner, Andrew all through. He was prompt, efficient and helpful throughout. The villa is massively spacious and suited our needs perfectly. We booked a car for the two weeks we were there which is pretty much a necessity as Inch Marlow is a residential area with no bars, restaurants etc in walking distance. Taxis are plentiful but we chose a 7 seater car which worked out at £50 per day, so good value. St Lawrence Gap and Oistins are 15 to 20 minutes in the car. Back to the villa - it has a great pool but if you have small children, note that the shallow end is still 5 ft. The WiFi is excellent throughout and everything you could want is there for you. Like most places, there is always room for improvement and the place could do with some TLC like a few new kitchen items and a bit of repainting but don’t get me wrong - it is clean, spacious, has comfortable beds, plenty of towels, lovely showers- if we were to return to Barbados I wouldn’t hesitate to contact Andrew to rebook Serenity

A wonderful stay, Wedding, honeymoon and holiday

Serenity villa is the most beautiful, spacious and sensational villa . The pictures do not even do this property justice interns of space and location ! The pool is gorgeous and clean and the gardens beautifully tropical and well maintained. I had a party of 8 and had my wedding at the property . I was overwhelmed by the service and expertise which made our wedding the perfect day. I would highly recommend getting married at this property if you wish to have a wedding not on the beach but in a stunning villa ! The entrance to this property, gardens and balconies are breathtaking and perfect for photos ! . Kay the housekeeper couldn’t do enough to support and help . When we arrived Kay arranged food for our party and a fridge full of drinks at our disposal . As the villa resides in a residential location you do need a car to get around ( although local Buses are walking distance by 10 mins or less ) it was perfect for us to have all that we needed on arrival . The wedding and whole stay was truly delightful. We look forward to staying at Serenity again and are already missing it dearly !

Depends on expectation

We are seasoned villa users, staying in around 20 over the last few years. To be honest, we find the reviews published to be a bit OTT. Beyond a doubt the structure of this Villa is impressive, and the location - whilst somewhat remote - did not create a problem. Here are our (hopefully constructive) observations: Firstly - surely some sort of map, and driving instructions to the Villa could be provided? It was harrowing to arrive at Barbados Airport with just a telephone number to contact. That proved quite traumatic, when nobody answered - and we had no idea where we were going! Thankfully a very helpful lady in the information kiosk managed to make contact, and armed us with some very complicated directions from the Airport. Maybe even a "meet and greet" service might be a good option? 90 minutes after our arrival we found our way to Serenity. As I said, the outside structure is impressive - but the half built properties adjacent are the opposite, a complete eyesore. Mind you, should they ever be completed they will look directly over the garden of Serenity, and be quite an intrusion. Once inside, the spaciousness of the Villa is evident. The master bedroom is superb, and well appointed. The second bedroom was again well appointed - but the lack of an en suite detracted. The other two bedrooms were more than adequate. Downstairs, we found to be comfortable - although we spent very little time there other than in the kitchen. We were dissapointed with the equipment therein. In fact, we thought it was poor. All of the China/crockery/glasses were of a poor standard, and there were insufficient pots/pans to be able to cook as we wished. The cooker was large, but temperamental and a dish washer was nowhere to be seen. The patio area was a wonderful size, but the garden furniture and tables are pitiful. Surely any visitors to this property would expect to eat most of their meals outside? That should be provided for, but there is a rotting table for four outside - and we were forced to bring an unsuitable picnic table downstairs from the verandah to use. We were a party of 5 - I have no idea how 8 or 10 people would cope! Deck chairs were provided, but two of them were falling apart and unsafe to use. The pool is most unusual. It's very small and very deep. Not at all safe for young children. The deck area surrounding the pool was dirty, and was never cleaned during our stay. On the positive side, the cleaner called every other day -

Beware of "shady" owner and property manager who will allow you to be robbed and have no sympathy.

Decide for yourself whether or not the qualities of the property suit you based on what others have written about their experiences. Our experience was marred by a theft of our wallets, watch and jewelry on the last night of our stay July 9 - 16, 2017. Before I get into that negative issue, let me tell you about what we encountered at the property: 1. Exterior of the house needs attention - paint peeling on the roof and the walls need a touch up as well. Grass not cut. 2. Pots/pans are of poor quality with metal coating deteriorating. 3. The water control on the shower in bathroom upstairs was broken off and never replaced although property manager said it would be. 4. The master bathroom shower had mildew on the tile and the drain was very slow whereby the water collects at your feet. 5. The mirror in the master bathroom wasn't long enough to cover both sinks so shaving, etc. was difficult as you had to lean left or right to see yourself depending on which sink was being used. 6. Two windows in the master bedroom were broken and couldn't be left open to allow ventilation. 7. There is no aircon on bottom floor, no ceiling fans and no screens on windows or doors so leaving them open allows flies, mosquitoes and other insects to enter the house. Now to our unpleasant experience, both my wife and I had our wallets, watches and jewelry stolen on the last night of our stay when someone got into the house while we were out and had to have still been there after we came in as I only put my wallet down after we arrived back. My wife noticed her wallet missing when she went up to go to bed and I noticed mine gone in the morning as we were about to leave for the airport. There were absolutely no signs of forced entry and the deadbolt lock was on of the garage door, which was the only exit/entry door we used the whole time. The property "manager" John was totally useless when we expressed this unsettling news. He didn't seem to even care, was unmoved and totally un-bothered by what happened, even when I told him this appears to be an inside job! What has transpired in the interactions with the owner since we left has been an absolute joke. Suffice to say this man is an absolute fraud and has told lie after lie. There are legal issues at play so I can't go into vivid detail.

Guest have stayed at my home since 2011, only now is it necessary to respond to a review in this way. Negative reviews have impact so I would like to reassure future/returning guests. Your deliberate attempt at defaming my house manager and my own character is disingenuous and without substace. Referring to me as 'shady' is an attempt tarnish my personal and professional integrity ;I repudiate this assertion vigorously. You reported the alleged incident to the house manager as you were due to checkout. My house manager informed me and I rang the police, asking them to investigative what I thought was a genuine claim. The statements from you and your wife showed multiple disparities and inconsistencies. Correspondences you sent me was forwarded to the police to assist their investigation. They concluded that (a) Nor you or your wife rang them to check the house or report the alleged incident. (b) The description of events both you and your wife gave to the house manager and myself was untrue. (c) The police officers who reported to the property after your departure concluded there were no signs of forced entry. You have been selective in your communications, attempting to paint a destructive picture of my home and my staff. Your first correspondence with me after the alleged incident was threatening, depicting someone making dishonest and false accusations. Your prejudicial review states two windows in the master bedroom were broken, correct! What you failed to communicate was that you broke both windows in the presence of my house manager, prompting your wife to ask 'what did you do that for?’ The police said this act was criminal damage and prosecutions should have resulted. Previous reviews represent an independent assessment of the prompt service I offer. You did not report any concerns or complaints to my house manager prior to these allegations which makes me question their validity? We endeavour to respond to any queries within 24 hours and there were no such queries reported as outlined in point 1-7 of your review. It is my deliberate policy not to have AC on the ground floor as there are no bedrooms! Your accusations are misleading, designed to be malicious, to prejudice my business. It is my pleasure to accommodate guests and their families, hoping they return to stay with us. I invite you as potential customers to read the other reviews and independently determine whether there is any substance to these claims. Thank you.

SIMPLY AMAZING

It's difficult to find the right words to express our gratitude towards Andrew the owner and Kay the house manager. They were both amazing , available and did everything they could to make our stay unforgettable. You will like royalty once you step into the mansion. Well decorated , SO SPACIOUS , we've never seen a master that big before. The views are phenomenal as well. We enjoyed the pool that was very refreshing during the hot and humid days. I HIGHLY recommend to rent a car for the duration of your stay , it's totally worth it. Everything is within 15 mins drive. It VERY safe , we came back late at night and never felt unsafe once. If you want to experience living like a "royal family" in Barbados , this is THE PLACE. Thank you Andrew and Kay , you will see us again soon. Patrick , Natasha , Chelsea , Chloe & Felix.

Serenity is exactly that

We were a family of 6 adults and an infant staying at Serenity during the week before Easter. First of all the pictures don't do justice to the size of this property and the proximity to the ocean. As you enter, the foyer is very castle-like with the block walls and the balcony surround. This opens to a front facing balcony above the front door. Straight ahead is the dining area with a table that easily sits 8 and can work for 10. To the left is a modern well equiped kitchen with lovely granite countertops and a fairly large island with matching granite. To the right is a seating area and large screen TV. A living room, laundry anbath complete the first floor. Upstairs are 4 bedrooms and 3 baths. We used 3 of the 4 bedrooms. Each was much larger than a routine hotel room and 2 had en-suite baths. Each was also air-conditioned and had sufficient closet space. The two rear bedrooms open onto a stunning second floor veranda which includes seats to watch the ocean in the distance. Back downstairs, there are 2 French doors opening to the lower veranda which steps down to a lovely and surprisingly deep pool. The villa is located in a nice neighborhood of upscale homes and is a short walk from a rocky hiking beach. You could wade here but not really bathe. Much better beaches are a short drive.

Disappointing

I have to say I was disappointed with our accommodations. The house is very large, but unfortunately very dated. When we arrived, we spent the first little while washing down the kitchen and washing most of the pots and pans. The patio and pool area is very nice, but the furniture cushions need to be disposed of, as more than one piece had mold on it. I appreciate that the host refunded us 25%, but did not follow through with a promised bottle of wine. For people looking for local culture, it is a little far from town, but that is reflected in the attractive price of the house.

Serenity is a fantastic property for a family holiday with loads of open space in and around the property with all facilities you would need for a relaxing stay, I would recommend a car for exploring. First time using VRBO and will be using again

Christmas in Barbados

The property was very spacious, and in a nice neighborhood within walking distance to the beach where people kite surf; this is not a swimming beach. There is also a small market nearby called Mikes, to get food and provisions quickly. The bedrooms were large and comfortable for our family. Each had its own AC unit, however the unit in the small bedroom at the front the house was not functioning properly and needs replacing. While both the house manager and owner were responsive, the AC mechanic was not, and our daughter suffered from the heat for the majority of the stay. The many porches and lanai were wonderful to relax and view the ocean and also to have breakfast or read. The pool was refreshing and enjoyable. We purchased some floats at the local Massy supermarket to enhance our experience. The pool is 5 feet from the top of pool deck at the shallow end, which could pose some challenges for inexperienced swimmers. The kitchen was modestly equipped; we did not lack anything, so it appears the owner has corrected issues from previous reviews. The only other issues were that there is no AC or ceiling fans on the bottom floor so we needed to keep the doors open for a breeze, thus were subjected to the mosquitoes. The addition of ceiling fans, AC and screens would take this property to the next level. We enjoyed our time here and the house manager and owner were responsive and gracious.

Serenity indeed

The property was just as described. Great neighborhood… extremely peaceful and close to town. All necessary amenities were available. The pool is absolutely enjoyable! Great space for a little R&R in paradise.

Christmas & New Year 2019

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here with family and small children. The property offered loads of space and the pool and area around it were wonderful. With the exception of one or two details (lack of some kitchen equipment and only two sets of keys) I would thoroughly recommend Serenity, which certainly lived up to its name. Many thanks.

Great location for access to the Long Beach, quick drive to kitesurf beach, which was perfect for our kitesurfing trip, little bit further to anywhere else but did a trick. Beautiful, huge property

Awesome house

This 4 BR (actually 5 bedrooms but we didn't use the 5th bedroom) is palatial and was nicer in person than in the pictures. The Master bedroom is a massive 400 sq ft with awesome 2nd-floor decks. The house and pool were very well maintained and the included a mid stay cleaning. There is a cozy restaurant on the water that is about 10 min walk called Mamu's. Everything else is a taxi ride. There are a couple of things to be aware of. The location is quiet and a little out of the way and the street address is not on google maps so a called taxi pickup may have trouble finding the house. If you plan to do frequent island traveling, get a designated driver's phone number so you can call him for pick up with 30 min heads up. My other recommendation is to add more light in the huge master bathroom, it needs it. Besides that the place is great.

Excellent value for a big group

We were a group of 8 who stayed here whilst visiting Barbados to watch England play in the cricket. Overall, the villa was great. It is huge, more than big enough for 8 guests. The outdoor area has ample space to relax with tables. chairs, loungers and a hammock. The pool is a good size. Location: A short 15 minute drive to the airport. Nothing is really within walking distance and the villa is a bit out of the way, we used Taxis to get around everywhere which were reasonable when split 8 ways. You can also get the bus if you walk around 10 minutes up the road. Mikes mini mart is a 15 minute walk away and has a good selection of essentials, food and drinks. The value for money for 8 people was excellent, especially considering the cost of guesthouses/hotels in Barbados. The only downsides is that it has been over 2 weeks and I have still not received my deposit back which seems a bit slow (not sure if this is standard for HomeAway). Also on the last day the housekeeper arrived unannounced at 9am, 2 hours before check out time to begin preparing for the next guests. At this point I did feel like we were being hurried out a little bit. I would recommend and would stay here again.

Serenity, is a family home that was built in 2008. It is a luxurious 8 person villa situated on the South Coast of the island, minutes from the airport. As its name suggests, its location is both tranquil and beautiful, complimented by ocean views and delightful surroundings. A five minute stroll delivers Long Beach and soothing Atlantic Sea breezes. A 10 minute drive from the charisma of Oistins and 20 minutes from the alluring St. Lawrence’ Gap, offers you the choice between relaxation or excitement; a difficult but desirable decision. Serenity boasts spacious bedrooms, dining/cooking areas, together with open plan verandas and balconies overlooking the pool. Each bedroom is air conditioned, although you may prefer to enjoy sweet all-day breezes.

An abundance of time and thought has gone in to this family villa to make it both comfortable and accommodating. The flowing, open plan design allows sweet and soothing breezes to spread throughout the house, both upstairs and down. The house is very spacious and has a light airy and welcoming atmosphere that is soothing and peaceful. The downstairs balcony has 4 cane chairs and seated table and plenty of space! The upstairs balcony provides a cosy retreat overlooking the pool and nearby Atlantic Ocean. Surrounding walls and a front gate offer privacy and house a garage for car storage.
Zeds surfing school is a five minute walk from Serenity, offering some of the best surfing experience in all the Caribbean.
Our house manager, Sam offers an exceptional service to all our guest and is willing to assist you in any aspect of your stay, including organizing an in house chef if you desire it.
