Wonderful, just wonderful!!
I have stayed in a wide range of HomeAway places in many locations - I have to say this is at or near the best in my experience and for the cost to value ration - likely very hard to top!!
Awesome garden in a most scenic location and just a beautiful home and surrounding structures. If Sicily did not hold so much interest - I could have spent our 5 days right there at the rental. And to top it off - Rosalba and Fabio and their two lovely daughters were the most hospitable and generous of hosts!! If I ever come back to Sicily - I would love to return here!!
Dear Linda and Don,
thanks for your review. we are happy to have known wonderful people like you. thanks again for coming. Rosalba and Fabio
Absolutely Charming, A Sicilian Paradise
This was our second HomeAway although we have used a similar company before for many years. Rosalba and her family we so kind and sincere. We have new friends now in Sicily and plan on coming back. We had ten days here and the location was perfect! It was close to the beach and the grocery store and not far from great places like Segesta and Erice. We have two children ages 7 and 8 and they enjoyed the pool, the gardens, the solarium, and the play area. We grilled every night and shared a dinner with our amazing new friends. I would highly recommend this authentic, organic, amazing home to anyone. Be sure to ask them where their favorite beach is and the history of the ancient caves just steps from their home!!
A fabulous secluded old stone house near Scopello
We really enjoyed our stay here. The house is charming and cool with a good sized swimming pool with a view over the surrounding countryside. There are some great walks in the area and the lovely village of Scopello is a 10 minute drive down the mountain. We were looking for somewhere to go away and relax with our 2-year-old son and be able to visit a few sites in the surrounding area. This place was perfect and the hosts, Rosalba and Fabio and their two daughters, were extremely accommodating and friendly and they seem to really go the extra mile in terms of service. We hope to see you again soon!
atmospheric stone cottage located in the hills above the bays of Guidaloca and Scopello
We are a family of five (kids 4,7 and 9) and had a wonderful holiday here. As other reviews suggest, what makes the place is the hospitality of the charming hosts, Rosalba and Fabio, who live in an adjoining house. The cottage is as advertised, more spacious and comfortable even than the photos suggest. The bedrooms are downstairs and remain cool even when it's hot outside, and there is abundant and peaceful outdoor space for lounging around reading under the shade of olive trees, enjoying the exotic landscape of cactae and bbqs in the evening. The village of Visicari has an interesting history, left to ruin after the war and then renovated by a hippy community in the 60s. Today the little enclave is home to a few holiday homes, some of them cave houses set into the hillside. The otherworldly feel is accentuated by the possibility of collecting drinking water from a nearby spring and navigating through local goat herds to access the village. A car is essential, but nothing is too far and there are many small coves and beaches to explore nearby. We loved Mazzo di Sciacca with its clear water for snorkelling and jumping rocks, as well as the pretty pebbled bay of Guidaloca. We stayed pretty close to home, but still enjoyed visits to nearby temple ruins at Segesta and the stunning medieval hilltop village of Erice. There is a supermarket on the way into Scopello, full of local and gourmet treats, which is more than enough to meet shopping needs, and the nearest conventional supermarket is located some 20 minutes away at Castellamare. Scopello is lovely for an evening wander with little craft stalls and has a couple of good restaurants, gelateria and terraces. We especially enjoyed the informal atmosphere and wonderful local pasta dishes and wood-fired pizzas at Trattoria Peppe e Nino's in nearby Busato Pallizolo. Thank you Rosalba and Fabio for a wonderful two weeks!
A memorable holiday withutterly lovely people
The setting, the garden and the incredible history and culture around were all great....but what really made this holiday for us was the quality of the hosts. Living next door they were not too present...but when we needed help (and we did!) they were fantastic.
Views, food, swimming in the sea...all was great. We would return to this spot...thank you
secluded, quiet, perfect peace with wonderful view
Such an amazing island. The property was lovely, beautiful gardens with secluded areas in the shade for those hot days. I loved sitting in the comfy outside armchairs or on the sun lounger area just listening to the wind in the trees and taking in the smells. Beautiful area ith lovely beaches and coves. Clear waters with an abundance of fish. Segesta, Monreale andErice are a must see. We loved the local market shop and fruit and veg shop and you can get water at the spring down the road. The food was amazing, we enjoyed local pizza, sea food and wild boar along with lovely Sicilian wine and beer. Rosalba , Fabio and their two girls were wonderful and the children spent lots of time playing together, our two girls did not want to come home. Neither did we, we were utterly enchanted by the place and would love to come back.
