Family friendly, lovely location, well thought out cottage and great additional games room. Lovely touches with milk, cake and lemonade welcome pack, along with dishwasher/ washing machine tablets. Does need a deep clean but didnt spoil the stay. We will return....
This was the perfect setting and house for our three generational holiday. There was plenty of space to sit, eat and chat together but also to enable people to have their own space. My granddaughters especially enjoyed playing pool.We hiked locally and afar, cycled and visited Hawes Creamery, Gayle Mill, Forbidden Corner and Middleton Castle. The Saddle Room.was an excellent choice for a farewell meal together.Rebecca proved to be one of the most supportive and attentive hosts I have ever encountered and that was very much appreciated. Thank you, Rebecca.
We're a family of five from the United States, and we spent a portion of our family vacation here in the Dales. We had absolutely stunning weather for our visit, and often spent time on the front patio at the picnic bench watching the local traffic go past and admiring the views as the sun moved across the sky. We found the accommodations to be clean, comfortable, and spacious, and the kids appreciated being able to spread out a bit. We went grocery shopping at the local Leyburn market, and used the kitchen for most of our meals. We appreciated having two full bathrooms for the large family. We used Google Maps to find the property as the written directions were a bit confusing to us. Also, in case it is confusing to you as well, the rental property includes most of the two pictured buildings connected by a 2nd floor walkway. We weren't quite sure which building was ours, but the answer is "both."
Lovely big house with plenty of space & amazing views
The house is absolutely gorgeous but could do with a really good clean. The views from the house & the garden are stunning & we could happily move there to live permanently. The weather was hot & we could have done with fans in each of thr bedrooms but none were supplied.Downstairs is dog friendly, which consists of kitchen, toilet, living room (which dogs have obviously been sitting on & smells doggy) & the dining room. Upstairs are the bedrooms & a lovely clean comfortable living room with pool table. Dogs are not permitted upstairs & shut off by stair gates. Guests need to be aware that despite the house being dog friendly the garden isnt secure at all so pets cannot be let off the lead for a wee.We had a special meal at the Foresters Arms just down the road which was limited fine dining & beautiful. We would recommend both the house & local area.
We are 7 who used to live and work together - had an amazing reunion at your lovely house. We loved the upstairs room, sat catching up, loads of laughter and chatter. Lovely walks, lovely setting, all we have needed was here, thank you!
Great property, lovely scenic views, good facilities. Great outside space. Literally in the middle of nowhere, great for walkers. Would definitely visit again. Only niggle was on the surface looked clean but was very dusty and lots of cobwebs which appreciate can be quickly spun however not the amount about. As it is dog friendly would have liked an enclosed area for them. No negative just feedback. Photo is view from the front door.
This is our 3rd stay and we have booked again for next year. Its perfect for our family. Lots of space, well laid out and all the things inside that we needs. Lovely area for peace and quiet!
We had a lovely few days at the property, much bigger than we expected. Upstairs lounge/Tv/Snooker table was really well used. Everything you need is there. Great location and wonderful dog walks. Would definitely recommend.
We had a wonderful time staying here with friends over new year. The upstairs living space was fantastic for the two families of four to hang out in (children aged 12, 13 and 14). The views are wonderful and we managed a great walk. The kitchen was well equipped and the owners were really helpful when we needed to get in touch. Would highly recommend staying here as a group.
Our family had a wonderful stay in this well-appointed house. Plenty of space to move about, relax and explore. Great check in and check out and such a beautiful part of the world - we were spoilt for choice!
The property was spacious and set in a stunning, quiet location. The view from the patio was breathtaking. It was very well equipped with everything you may need and more. The pool table was a bonus. We visited Bolton Castle and Forbidden Corner. Both were great family fun days out. We even travelled on the North Yorkshire Moors steam Railway and visited Aysgarth Falls. The owner was very helpful and answered our queries promptly. They kindly left chocolate and wine for us to celebrate my husbandâs 70th. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and look forward to returning.
Another amazing stay in the house. Perfect size for all of us, with everything we need. Kids love it, and the peace and quiet is fab. Booked again for next year!
The property is spacious, with the addition of an upstairs lounge with a pool table (great for teenagers). All the beds comfortable and its very quiet at night.
The kitchen is rather small in comparison, and the only space for food is a warm? larder cupboard.
The other quirky thing is the lighting system, two way switches which are baffling when you first arrive and a buzzy light fixture. Also there were several defunct bulbs, but the caretakers did come and sort that out. All in all, a good place to stay.
Mile House East is a cottage that has been in our family for nearly 50 years. It is a home from home to my brother and I and our families. The children adore it..
Mile House East is a cottage that has been in our family for nearly 50 years and is currently owned by brothers Peter and Andy McKinlay. We have been able to refurbish and upgrade the property but retain the original features in this lovely old house. Last year we were able to extend the first floor into the old barn and create a large second living space as well as a fifth bedroom and second bathroom. Our families regularly use the cottage ourselves and we now have plenty of space. With three growing children in each family every corner of the dales becomes our adventure playground.
Wonderful countryside at your front door. Close to both Leyburn - a thriving market town where you can pick up anything you need for your stay. Community owned pub - The Foresters Arms - witin walking distance. Forbidden Corner - voted Best Family Day out 2012 - a few miles away.
