Serena was brilliant and her house was perfect for our week in Provence. We were met by a lady who explained everything and the whole experience was wonderful. More than enough space for our extended family of 10 people, Iâd highly recommend this beautiful home.
We thoroughly enjoyed our week at La Roque. The house is set in a wonderful, peaceful location. The house itself is beautiful and comfortable, with enough space for privacy and convivial living. The children, and therefore we, couldn't get enough of the pool and outdoor area.
Yes, we are thinking of going back next year.
Really wonderful and special place, a place to make one think of dropping everything and moving to Provence. The notes provided on things to do and see are just great. Very helpful.
La Roque is every bit as nice as the pictures. Serenaâs communication and notes made it practically like having a tour guide at hand. Everything we wanted or needed in the House was right there. Excellent library in English. Do note that thereâs a walkable restaurant but no shops or bakeries (as indicated in a previous review). Perfect location to enjoy all of Provence and then retreat to the pool. Loved it.
We had the most wonderful week at La Roque - a really lovely, well equipped, comfortable home with glorious views. Thanks to Serena's superbly comprehensive notes about all we could see and do in the area, we covered a good amount of ground and visited markets, some beautiful villages, saw amazing scenery and managed a game of tennis on the local courts. Shame we ran out of time to go cycling as this is the area in which to do it! Most afternoons were spent by or in the lovely pool relaxing - impressed by the superior poolside furniture which sometimes lets a property down! All in all, a five star holiday home in a five star location!
Nous avons passe de tres bonnes vacances a Blauvac. La maison est tres pratique et bien equipee. La vue est magnifique. Beaucoup d activites dans les envorons.
Spacious villa with luxury in natural surroundings
Go! If you aim to stay in the heart of the Vaucluse region try to book this large villa. We were here last week with two families. The villa(clean, safe) does have four spacious bedrooms with annex bathrooms and an extra gite which is comfortable for two persons. On the ground floor you also find a lovely fireplace sitting room and a separate room to watch your favorite movies. The modern kitchen enables you to cook your own provence meals. There is also a professional gas bbq positioned on the terrace. The best part is the garden with heated pool and a panoramic view you will never forget. The location is rural but not too remote. Only few(5-20) kilometers to the boulangerie in Mazan and the touristic places like bedoin, venasque, avignon, carpentras, ilse sur sorgues, gordes, luberon nature park and mont ventoux. Take with you your bikes(paradise) and explore the area. The English owners and monsieur Hubert do everything to make your stay unforgettable. Oh and I should not forget to mention the restaurants la calade(blauvac) and les remparts (venasque). You won't regret.
Recommended by heavy users of French holiday houses.
Blauvac is a hilltop village with stunning views north to the Mont Ventoux; and wooded hills and vineyards all around. The upstairs bedroom and its terrace has spectacular views - to be fought over. Beautiful views over the garden and pool and far beyond. The property is cared for by the obliging Hubert; though you have to get used to his Provencal accent.
The interior is spacious, very clean and comfortable with elegant furniture and decor. There is the full range of domestic equipment, including no less than 3 fridges. The listing descriptions were accurate; and Serena and Simon were most helpful if we had any queries while there.
Within easy range are fascinating places to visit - the large weekly market at Bedoin, the Nesque gorge with Monnieux at its head, with a nice restaurant, the hill town of Venasque with its excellent restaurant, Les Remparts, the stately hill town of Gordes, the mediaeval town of Pernes les Fontaines, the peaceful monastery of Senanque and much else.
There are convenient shops and services at nearby Mazan. Blauvac has its own small restaurant within walking distance, La Calade, with a good new chef. You don't need to drive back afterwards.
We spent so much time enjoying ourselves that we never unpacked our jigsaw puzzles. A wonderful stay. We would warmly recommend La Roque.
We had the most amazing holiday at La Roque. We were three different generations so it worked brilliantly as my parents could have their own separate area up the main staircase whilst the rest of the family were in rooms on the other side of the house. My teenage kids were delighted to have a completely separate space in the gite.
The views from the house and pool completely blew us away. The terrace, with its stunning Mulberry tree providing loads of shade, was where we ate all our meals and is conveniently located right next to the kitchen. There are sliding picture windows in the kitchen which means the inside and outside merge together seemlessly and makes catering for a large number very easy. There is a large gas BBQ which we made good use of. As well as a large sitting out area with a U-shaped sofa.
The rooms are beautifully decorated. There was everything we needed including hairdryers. The master bedroom has its own beautiful terrace looking over the view and swimming pool.
We loved the area - loads to do. Lots of markets, cycling, sight-seeing and wine tasting. Everything you could wish for in a provencal holiday. We could not recommend La Roque more highly.
This was a perfect holiday spot. Perched on the edge of the village - but totally private, and with incredible views over the mountain & valley opposite. The pool was perfection - we all managed to switch off & totally relax by it, plus lots of shade & comfortable sunbeds.
The house itself is gorgeous; beautifully done, comfortable, clean & elegant. We had wonderful lunches & dinners under the shade of the mulberry tree, and beautiful sunsets over the valley. Location was lovely - the village is charming but also very close drive to amazing markets, hilltop towns and places to eat & drink
Overall, peaceful & beautiful
Serena was a fantastic host - lots of communication, answered all our questions quickly and helped us to find somewhere to stay on the drive over from the UK
We look forward to staying in this part of the world again and would love to return to Serena's house
The house was very welcoming with all the items you would find at home. Great views from the house and a pool to cool down in. The area around had lots to see and the house book was excellent in detailing both the house, local restaurants ( the one in the village we visited twice because of the welcome and quality of the food), walks and comments on the various towns and villages to visit. We stayed as a group of four couples and with all four rooms having en -suites there was no queueing for the bathrooms!! An excellent choice of house.
This villa in the hills of Provence is even more beautiful than the pictures. It is a peaceful sanctuary filled with everything you need to create an outstanding vacation for a family retreat or a gathering of friends. The villa is quite large and has a wonderfully equipped kitchen overlooking the beautiful mountains as a backdrop. The pool is a delight, especially after a day traveling to explore the area. The bedrooms and multiple baths are spacious and modern and allow a family to share the facilities with plenty of room for privacy.
Serena ensured a perfectly seamless transition to our home in France. She took time to email answers to any questions and responded to questions about the region which helped us plan our trip. Additionally, she left folders with information about markets, sites, and restaurants that assisted us. We used this information as a guide.
The location is perfect for seeing the many sites as well as exploring the markets. The town itself is very small-a delightful restaurant, a church and some homes as well as outstanding views, but its location to other areas of interest allows it to be a perfect place for a Provencal vacation. Additionally, it is only 10 minutes from a small town with grocery stores, restaurants and bakeries.
Serena ensured we had a local couple available in the event we had questions or needed anything done at the villa. They were absolutely delightful and despite our poor French speaking skills, we communicated with them and enjoyed the local experience.
I have used home exchanges in the past. Each has been a wonderful experience, but this home is one I would return to again and again. I would recommend this villa very highly. You will not be disappointed with any aspect of your France vacation by choosing the villa. In fact, the memories you create at La Roque will last a lifetime!! Enjoy your stay!
Having been back a couple of weeks , we have not stopped talking about our stay. The House is as good , if not better than the photos and with a view to die for. Lots of places to visit within easy reach and Serena's information pack was extremely fulsome , certainly worth visiting Les Ramparts restaurant , excellent food and views , especially lovely on the Terrace ( do book it gets busy). If you do want to have a drink and do not want to drive , try the restaurant 200 yds up the road ( not open every day ) , food excellent but wine a bit pricey. The house had all the facilities you could wish for and my wife and I and my family would recommend the house to anyone----Brilliant !
The property is really beautiful, very nicely decorated, great kitchen and wunderful Garden with terrasses and swimmingpool. The surrounding is excellent for Bike-riding, walking and there are lots of lovely markets to visit and great restaurants. The owners are very hospital. We had a wunderful vacation.
Ideal home for two families. Spacious rooms with a bathroom each. Cozy living room with fireplace, practical kitchen with large dining table and beautiful view. Very well located for exploring the region. And, very important, especially sympathetic homeowner who helps you with any questions. It's like you feel at home ! We celebrated New Year,It was a excellent start for 2016 !!

I've been going to this village for the last 40 years. My parents have a house at the other end of the village and in 2010 I had the opportunity to buy the house that I used to go and pick cherries and apricots at when I was a child. I am a publisher of restaurant guides and have always loved food and cooking and there is nowhere like provence for finding the freshest ingredients at anytime of year. I also love cycling and this is a cyclists paradise. Where you want a short half an hour or a more challenging stage of the Tour de France - they are both on your doorstep. Wine lovers will also be in heaven - and those looking for antique or flea markets, you have come to the right place!
