The highlight of my stay was the charming couple who run the place. Anna and Julian are very good hosts. Their organic oÄșive oil was one the best I have tasted. The property feels remote yet very close and has easy access to Fllorence
Relaxing week, convenient location. Peaceful. Julian and Anna were lovely people. They were helpful and available whenever needed. Thank you. We miss Puppy â€ïž
My wife and I stayed Podere Vigliano Vecchio for 7 days during our honeymoon as a base to explore the region. After being flummoxed by the crowds in Florence itself Julian and Anna recommended some smaller towns and local restaurants to visit which retained much more of the Italian charm we were after. Anna kindly even organised tickets for us to see the main galleries during our stay. Florence was only a short trip by car (10min) and then tram (20min) and yet you arrive back at the farmhouse in quiet and idyllic surroundings and I found myself stranded in the hammock for many an hour during the heat of the day enjoying the rolling olive groves stretching from the terrace. Loved it. Only tip would be to bring some mosquito spray!
We flew into Rome and took a rental car for 11 days to relax and tour Tuscany and see Florence and get a feel of an area of Italy we had never visited. Directions were perfect and we got great advise from Julian asnd Anna. The accommodation was as described with a fully equipped kitchen for self-catering. The apartment is situated on the ground floor and the high ceilings and direction made the apartment cool and shaded even though the weather was hot for most of our stay. We ate outside overlooking the fields and hills surrounding the house. The location was ideal for us. Both in the middle of nowhere, quiet and peaceful, but also 10 minutes by car from the Florence tram line and Ring Road for easy access to everywhere. We recommend days in San Gimignano and Volterra to the south and Lucca and Cinque Terre to the north. We visited Florence twice. The tram line is convenient and?
great and costs near to nothing. If you want somewhere quiet and off the beaten track, beautiful and good value for money, this is typical Tuscany.
We made Julian & Annaâs vrbo our home base for visiting Florence, Sienna, Lucca, Pisa, & Volterra. It was our first time in Tuscany.
First, our hosts are âsalt of the earthâ good people who are authentic & caring. They shared some vegetables from their garden with us, gave us good advise, and were wonderful to talk to about Italy & life. We truly enjoyed seeing them & talking to them every day.
Next, the apartment we were in had all we needed for our stay. It has a half size refrigerator and freezer that work well, gas stove, sharp knives, pots, pans etc. We lacked nothing. The beds were comfortable & we made use of the two fans they supplied us.
The showers both worked well as did the clothes washer. Our clothes dried quickly on the drying rack.
There is a new COOP about 10 minutes from the place. It has everything, including wine, prosecco, liquor, beer.
It is just a 10 minute drive to the tram parking lot called âVilla Costanza Statione.â Here you can park for free, and buy an Urban Ticket (only 1.50 Euro) to Florence (Firenze). The parking lot is often full, but we waited for the next tram to arrive & kindly asked if people were leaving. The trans run every 4-5 minutes.
We also purchased some jams, olives, & organic olive oil from Julian & Anna from their farm.
Five Stars if you want a country experience & good humans as hosts!
We had the recent pleasure of spending just over a month at L?Acetaia. We visit Florence at least a couple of times each year, generally staying in the centre of town for shorter visits. Visiting Italy for longer gave us the opportunity instead to try a different approach: and we weren?t disappointed.
L?Acetaia is a welcome antidote to the hot, busy and often stifling centre, and a far more authentic way of experiencing what it is to be in Tuscany. Swap crowds of tourists for the beautiful views of the Florentine hills, with their tranquility and birdsong. And yet here you?re not isolated: head back down the hill to the new tram stop in Scandicci (free parking) and 20 minutes later you?re in the centre of Florence. It was lovely to nip into town for lunch and a little light shopping, knowing that (not without some relief) the peace of L?Acetaia awaited our return.
Alternatively, instead of an over-priced tourist pizza, head for the local bar (and deli) in San Martino alla Palma, deceptively sleepy, until you go inside and find the Gucci crowd from their local headquarters down the road.
L?Acetaia is a charming cottage, authentically restored from the old vinegar barn which abuts the owners? farmhouse, and is comfortable and well-equipped. Of particular note is the large private terrace, with lovely Tuscan views of Cyprus trees, olives groves and vineyards across the adjacent valley. Julian and Anna, the owners, are so welcoming: nothing is too much trouble. On a number of occasions we returned from our travels to find a jar of homemade marmalade or chutney, a bowl of plums (picked that morning from one of their fruit trees) or some fresh courgettes from the vegetable patch next to the terrace. It is little touches like this that make a stay here so special, and so different from an otherwise anonymous B&B.
A lovely space ... And convenient .. a short drive to the local tram stop and you are in Florence so easily.
Terrific.
Wonderful view from the bedroom and garden.
Anna was a wonderful hostess. Some great suggestions for restaurants. Thank you Anna

We were fortunate to have chosen to stay in LâAcetaia. Originally a building from the 1400âs in which vinegar was stored, Julian and Anna have converted it to a comfortable apartment with every amenity. It exceeded our expectations. From the time of our arrival, we were treated as family. They offered advice on tours, places to visit, shop and dine. They are both very knowledgeable about the history of the area and we appreciated the time they spent with us.
We rented a car in Florence and had no problem finding the property. As you drive in, park, then walk through the gates, you enter a world where you can escape and leave your hectic lifestyle behind. It is centrally located, a short drive to Florence and a good starting point to explore all Tuscany has to offer.
Julian and Anna put their heart and soul into their property and it shows! We are thankful we had the opportunity to share in it and spend a wonderful week there.
We only stayed for three nights, but we really thoroughly enjoyed this home away from home Julian and Anna offered us. We had a nice private terrace, the sleepingroom was cosy and in the appartment everything needed, was available. Florence was within reach with the tramvia. The house is in a valley in between cypresses and olive trees and the dogs Poppy and Alma were very friendly. We certainly do come back!

A pleasant home in a great location and the finest hosts!
L'Acetaia is a charming farmland setting and offers amazing views across the valley. Watching the sunrise against the beautiful backdrop of the hills is definitely worth an early rise. The secluded village location offers a perfect retreat whether you want to retire peacefully after a busy day or prefer to be laid back and spend the day relishing its idyllic setting.
The tram station at Villa Costanza is just 10 minutesâ drive. There is frequent train services that will take you into central Florence in 20 minutes. Our Florence Card plus purchase was worth the investment as it covered the tram fare and kids access to attractions. We managed to visit several famous museums and cathedrals over the three days we spent in the historic city.
Other major attractions like Sienna, Val DâOrcia, San Gimignano, Volterra etc. are also at easy reach by car.
The self-contained unit has all the comforts and conveniences that you would require to be âat homeâ. With two full shower rooms and a fully equipped kitchen, getting ready for the dayâs outing was always smooth.
The real highlight of our stay was our kind, charming and lovable hosts Julian & Anna. Had it not been for them, we would have been stranded for hours during night when our rented car broke down during our journey from the airport and we couldnât even get past the emergency helplineâs automated system. Without sharing further details, we can confidently say that anyone who signs up with Julian and Anna are guaranteed to be in safe and knowledgeable hands. Our only regret is that we werenât able to join them for the olive gathering and pressing as we were pressed for time. The time we spent together with Julian and Anna will remain close to our heart and we look forward to meeting them again.
Very nice place for holidays - sehr nettes Haus fĂŒr erholsamen Urlaub.
Julian and Anna were gracious hosts. Fantastic directions to their place as well as getting to the tram. Tha view from the apt was absolutely breathtaking! Would definitely stay here again
We stayed in L'Aceteia. L'Aceteia is furnished to a very basic standard. The living room photo shows a TV and the inventory mentions DVD's etc, but none of these were in evidence. We didn't care about this particularly, but it is an example of a small measure of mis-representation in the details.
It was cool and wet when we were there so we asked for some heating. The owner turned this on and it did take the damp chill off. We used it for a couple of days, but while we were out the owners turned it off, exclaiming how expensive it was to use. Nowhere in the details we looked at did it mention a charge for heating, but we were presented with a quite hefty bill for gas as we left. So please please ensure you get this clear when you book, especially if going in spring or autumn.
It is a long way from any cafe or restaurant. The drive is very rough indeed. We used the trams to get into Florence and these were brilliant.
Our stay in La vista was beyond all expectations...the location made Florence exceptionally accessible thanks to the proximity of the new tram system. Again the central location of the podere is ideal for further excursions eg. Sienna, Barga, Lucca, Piza etc. The owners , Julian and Anna could not have been more welcoming and helpful...ideal hosts. The directions given were excellent especially the GPS coordinates. We would highly recommend this well appointed appartment for those who wish to visit Firenze and surrounding area without the high costs and stress of living in the city its self. We will certainly return.

Qui vous reçoit ?
Vous ĂȘtes reçu par Julian & Anna
My wife(Anna) and I (Julian) are British citizens, but both have some Italian blood and have lived on this property since we got married. I am essentially an extra virgin olive oil producer, but I also enjoy organizing wine tours. My wife is an English teacher in Italian schools, but her presence is fundamental for running this business. Anna is also an excellent cook and therefore has decided, if anyone wishes, to give a few cooking lessons (on the premises). Anna and I love living in the country and enjoy having guests who appreciate this beautiful Tuscan hamlet on top of a hill, but at the same time we are literally a stone's throw from Florence, where we wish to enrich our cultural and social needs !
This property is part of a hamlet which was bought by my parents in the late 50's. We decided to come away from Milan and live here, permanently, in 1971. We produced some of the best Chianti wine and an excellent oil, which was exported all around Europe, the US and Canada. I feel very attached to the place, for its approaches, the exclusive, magnificent views, the peace and quiet which makes it quite special and unique, right in the middle of the typical Tuscan countryside, but also very close to civilization!
The property is quite unique for its logistical position. Close to all the main roads leading to all the main Tuscan towns, close to the town centre, close to all the main supermarkets, small village shops and restaurants. A 800m private track road (1/2 mile) leading up to the property on a hill (belonging to the hamlet), avoids any potential traffic passing by thus adding a big plus note to this small paradise! Excellent for walks and birdwatching.
